Eating Like A Kid Спорт
In the 70's Grandad used to break into Kona, in the 90's dad ripped a bone out of his leg on the tombstone, and since a kid I've skated here, I love this park. Even got my first board from here in like 2003.
What a family history. Goals.
Mad respect for anyone that drops in on the tombstone. I never had the guts. I’ve since moved away from Jax, but Kona provided me with some of the best 80's memories ever.
I never thought of this but after seeing this I did it! Super sketch but super sick!!!
This looks like a dream. This is the kind of skating I love. Just getting some speed and riding on concrete. No tricks needed, no stairs or rails. Just your wheels surfing concrete. Looks like such a blast!
You're more of a Stacy Peralta type skater
I spent every summer skating at KONA from 1986 - 1990 and months in between. Grew up in the Arlingtion neighborhood (Arlingwood) just across the expressway. Damn I wish I could re-live those years. God bless the Ramos family.
I found this video while playing as Rodney Mullen on Kona on THPS4. Thats cool :)
Ive been there in real life its huge
I'm a lifer. Been skating Kona since 86-87. I'll never forget the mindblowing experience when I walked out of the pro-shop door for the first time. Anticipation, exhilaration, elation... I still get those same feelings to this very day.
I skateboarded Kona in 1980 for 2 or 3 days on a weekend pass while in Army basic training in South Carolina and Georgia. I reside in Hawaii and it was my dream to skateboard a concrete skatepark! I rode everything! The halfpipes, pool, snake run. and main bowl.
Kona is the best park ive ever been to. Its in the middle of nowhere but its gotta be the biggest skatepark ive ever been to. I didnt realize it was this historic
THE SNAKE IS IMPOSSIBLE! Ive seen so many people bust on it.
Brings back memories. Best park I went to as a kid. Nothing like it in Canada at that time.
This was my local skatepark. Will remember it forever!
I went there a few times back in the 80s & 90s and had a pure blast..I wish it was closer..I'd prolly still be riding there.
KONA is such a huge part of skating history. Thanks for making a part of this series.
I've been wishing and hoping for a web-series like this for a LONG time! Going through the most famous skatespots around the world, serious respect!
You can play in there in THPS4
This is my new favorite feature of the RideChannel. Thumbs up for old school!
wow, ride channel you are killing it, loving the skate history. Respect!
love for Kona from Colombia!
Mr. Ramos you Rock Awesomeness !!!!
This was really excellent. Well shot, great interviews, beautiful colors. I didn't know anything about Kona apart from the name and that it was in florida, nor most of those skateboarders. Really hoping you keep the series going. I'd buy a DVD for sure.
Kona is the SHIT. Love the place. I travel from Minnesota to Florida twice a year to spend a few days there. The first session will scare the crap out of you. The second session will kick your ass. Once you figure out the million lines through the park it's super fucking fun. There's nothing easy about Kona. The freestyle area and the snake run are my favorite parts. The people that run it are super cool too.
Last time i went it was rough.. They need a little renovation and i'd skate it again for sure.
This is awesome.
I love this
AWESOME** Must see!!!!!!!!!!!!
dam must've been a awesum region to live in & growup much luv to kona jacksonville, fl.. from the 505 NM
grrrrrrreat series!!!
AWESOME!!!
Really, really cool.

so sick!
wow ! sick !!
I inline skated there from 94 to 2006. Mrs ramos was an awesome person. She used to be like a nurse to us. Every time you got banged up or hurt ms Ramos was there.
well that place looks like endless fun.
I live like 30 minutes from this skatepark, so fun!
Making my first trip down there July 2023. I am excited.
You're gonna have fun dude. Word of advice, it's fucking scary at first. First time I skated it I was super intimidated. You'll have fun though.
@@mikeluostari5196 wife and I swing by there and it was 95 degrees and million percent humidity. With 2 hours let to go in the drive I had to pass on this opportunity. However my daughter goes to school just 2 hours away so there will definitely be a dedicated trip when it cools down.
Keep this up!
I live in Jacksonville and I go to kona all the time it is amazing
Someday I'll go to skate there..., I promise!
fully inspired!!!
I still play it and it's still a great game :D
Nice!
god bless ramos for saving skating
Dude i skated there in the early 90's the hill out side down the road was something else
@@jasonmann1742 Back in the day that hill was longer when the bridge at the bottom was tiny. There were no lights all the way down and it was pitch black at night and we would bomb the hell out of it, blind.
I wish we had this in Hawaii
we need pt 2!!!!
he didnt invent the drop in but he dropped in on something crazy in front of everyone
Cool
inspiring
always wanted to skate there
dude sick im also doind that in about a week from now :P
How about some UK skate spots? I would love to see stuff about Southbank, Harrow or Neasden secretpool!
I go there alot
I've been one time and it was the best day of my life when i got there i went strait to the snake run did it twice then i got really scared but did it again and loved it i wanto live there in sted of moving to austrailia
YES, thank god no dislikes finally, keep it up
for anyone wondering they re-did all the ramps so now its a skate heaven i should know i live next door to it
i wish i lived in that generation
I grew up skating Kona but man .. it was a rough ass park loads of fun .. but rough as hell
Kona is SCARY at first. There's not an easy line anywhere in that park. Even the shallow bowl is intimidating.
I need to go to KONA
i live so close to this park
Make KONA famous!
reminds me of kevin kowalski's backside boneless transfer over the extension
Wow I've been there, didn't know it was the oldest skatepark in the states
the definition of a skate park...

I’ve lived in the same neighborhood and grew up two streets down.

time for KONA 2012!
that generation new how to skate!!
Kicking myself lived in Jax for a few months back in 2009 but never got a chance to skate here.
Make Kona famous 2012
OMG
Kinda reminds me of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland with their story line. With the Snake run that had to be dug up and everything like that. I wouldn't be shocked if that game was based off of this.
same :D
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland has to be inspired by this place, even the snake run looks similar, even Tony Alva was in that game too damn
Is on thps4
Hrd place to skate
Its crazy that i skate here at least once a week ahha
proud to say ive skated Kona atleast 10 times in the 90s. best skatepark ever. the snake transfer is AMAZING!

3:36 blazers? nice!
