    Hyrule Warriors is a good example. Good amount of content at release, loads of FREE improvements to the game, and DLC that's actually worth something.
    Not to be a fanboy, but Nintendo is actually really good about DLC.

      JGamer king But they do the exact same things everyone else does. Whenever people talk about dlc and say Nintendo is the only company doing it right, it makes me a little salty. To play devils advocate, a lot of companies do it right as its extra content regardless. Racing game releases dlc maps, people complain. Mario Kart does the same thing, people praise it. If people get mad at one company doing it, they should do the same to other companies and not have double standards. Sorry if that was overblown, I just kinda go on a tangent whenever I hear that.

      ***** onw a side note, About the status effects? the one that terrifies me sometimes is Petrification, like in Jade cocoon. It slowly makes you slower and less able to do anything until... you're a statue. you die. Fortunately the game hs a relic that keeps you from dying, but STILL.

    • @deathpyre42
      @deathpyre42 9 лет назад

      Christopher Middelveen I personally loathe the miasma status effect in smite. It turns any heal that affects you into a stun instead, and some casters have wide area hot effects, which combines with sloppy teammates into a horrible cycle of stuns and poke damage.

    • @AnthonyMtheGamerArtist
      @AnthonyMtheGamerArtist 9 лет назад

      +deathpyre42 The only game I play nowadays with status effects is Paper Mario: TTYD. I usually try to end a battle quickly if I have a bad status ailment like burn, dizzy, or poison. If freeze, sleep, or immobilization, I hope I survive the onslaught, as I can't block. (Sleep isn't as hard to deal with)

    • @rpglover5955
      @rpglover5955 9 лет назад

      +Christopher Middelveen Petrification do suck yes, especially when it comes so early you don't have items to cure it (im looking at you cockatrice from FF1). also i don't appreciate when the game throws in status effects you *can't* equip yourself vs. Charm in BD is especially painful early on as the two bosses that use them comes early enough that you can't buy the accessory before AFTER you are done with the chapter (Rusalka chapter 2 is seriously painful if he should get the clones up, a possible quad charm is pretty much insta death, good thing special attacks are kinda broken so the fight can be ended before he ever gets there). As for unequipable status effect in that game, berserk can only be guarded with by using fairy ward.

    A comment on No.5: A way difficulty spikes can actually be well implemented is demonstrated by Fire Emblem Awakening. There's a moment after chapter 11 where things jump slightly in difficulty, but this is also where you gain access to important items to power up (i.e master seals) and begin to get higher support levels. It also serves to help you see the progress you've made from earlier chapters due to YOUR hard work and planning.

    7 I don't realy have a problem with that. But I agree, ennemy should have problem moving around too.
    6 Oh, those bosses...
    5 Most of the time, yes. However, for certain games, I like these. Well, mainly the Souls games, which are famous for their difficulties, so I guess it is kinda irrelevent here. Oh, and I also disagree about SNK bosses.
    4 Oh yeah, this.
    3 For FF3, it's intended.
    2 Seriously ? Auto scrolling ?

    - Well, why couldn't ennemy heal themselves ?

    • @AnthonyMtheGamerArtist
      @AnthonyMtheGamerArtist 9 лет назад +1

      +thetimmon I see your point. To me, microtransactions are *paying real money for consumable items.* This is like PvZ 2's Coins or Gems. DLC is *paying once for an unlimited usage of an item, whether it be day-one or not.* This is like Smash 4's Mii Fighter costumes and DLC fighters, PvZ 2's premium plants (and to an extent, Gem-iums), or even Angry Birds's Mighty Eagle powerup or Bad Piggies's Field of Dreams sandbox level.)
      DLC is the better of the two practices.

    • @thetimmon
      @thetimmon 9 лет назад

      AnthonyM the Gamer Artist! yea, i see what you mean, i think as long as it doesn't affect gameplay much, or is mainly cosmetic (keep in mind, i classify "microtransactions" as being little things in the game that are being sold for at most 5 dollars, and DLC is typically more than that, and you get more with DLC.)
      there are games that don't do DLC very well, a very obvious example being call of duty, where in the latest game one of the DLC weapons is really powerful, and is probably the Best LMG in the game, unlike previous the previous two games where the guns were mediocre at best, and you felt penalized trying to use them.
      well, I'm excluding the ripper from cod ghosts, because let's be honest, cod ghosts was the biggest flop the series ever saw.

    • @randomstuff-qu7sh
      @randomstuff-qu7sh 8 лет назад

      The biggest problem I see with random is when you get same char over and over again. Often, the "random" odds are rigged so that the biggest fan favorites are the most rare drop. Some games are nice and give you an auction house or a market to allow you to exchange the useless extras. Some are bigger cash drains by allowing you to make them more powerful by obtaining multiple copies and fusing together...

    #10, stone/petrify and doom are the worst of them all.
    #9, couple that with the fact you waste 1 of 4 move slots for flash in pokemon and you have to get an npc to remove it later on
    #8, there's been moments when this has been done real bad, that being when the limit is cutthroat, gives you no breathing room and for what? so you can complete the game faster when the only consequence of running out of time is your character commiting suicide.
    #7, why is this a thing in platformers, it always screws me over... and down the cliff i go... AGAIN!
    #6, if the damage sponge is an optional superboss that adds an extra challenge for those that weren't satisfied with the final boss, fine by me to an extent, however ff12 managed to screw that up.
    #5, shin megami tensei nocturne in a nutshell
    #4, looks like i got this in the ba... wait what the hell happened?
    #3, hmm, there's a door up ahead and no save point, it can't possibly be the boss now can it? it's the boss... I WASN'T PREPARED FOR THIS!!!!
    #2, now we are going to force you to pan to the right without a good reason to... but i want to get the hidden reward in the level... too bad, you missed it, play the level from the start!

    No knockback damage? It is one of the worst things i had ever come across next to crappy bosses! There are points where you are either at a high area or a area with bottomless pits and is filled with tons of enemies! What's worse is that you will take knockback damage if you come into contact! It can lead to an insta-kill or force you to do all that climbing all over again! The worst offender would be the hard as balls "La-Mulana"! In this game, every single monster you fight, including the rats and bats, do knockback damage!

      @@axlexe8639 The Lantern is great in Minish Cap; you don't get it it until halfway through instead of early on like in most Zeldas it's in, and it turns out to be for damn good reason: the TMC Lantern functions less like tossing matches on the ground in front of you and more like a *flame shield* that fries enemies when you walk into them with it out, even killing the powerful Wizzrobes in one hit!

    4: Yeah, reading AI can be a jerk, especially Killer Instinct 2013 Skynet- er, I mean, Kyle difficulty. And rubberband isn't too big of a deal, but still problematic at times. And we all remember Parace... ADAM WILL DEFEAT YOU, YOU PAIN IN THE JACKALOPE! And Snake too.

    dragon ball z budokai 3 is a HUGE victim of that. i am litterally yet to pull off a SINGLE full dragon rush on z3 opponents. where as they do it all the time. for people who don't know, the dragon rush is where the attacker picks a button and the defender needs to pick the same button. this goes on for 3 rounds and can do a ton of damage if the attacker is successful. neither player can see the other one's button presses.....except in the case of Z3 FUCKING OPPONENTS!!!! i mean i get that it's the hardest difficulty and all, but that's no excuse to make the AI aytomaticly superior to any human because they can see through your controller.

    Micro transactions i notice always affect mostly the rpgs and the puzzle games on the phone sense for rpgs or build a team rpgs you have to spend cash just to make sure your team is full of legionaries and all the best monsters or units. while with puzzle games they just make you have a small amount of turns or gives you you very difficult requirement that takes alot of thinking. At worst they would put both together pretty much making it that you have to spend cash if you don't want to start from the beginning

      ***** Another dishonorable mention is those playing as ninjas instead of another important character in the Final Fantasy series. For example, Edge Geraldine in Final Fantasy IV and Shadow in Final Fantasy VI. I'd rather play as Golbez in Final Fantasy IV and General Leo in Final Fantasy VI. The players didn't like having another more important character die too early, sacrifice its life, or not become playable at all. I'd rather have ninjas as either guest characters or a non playable character from the start and have a more important character become playable instead. It may have not made this list for a dishonorable mention but it's definitely a thing many people hate in video games especially the Final Fantasy series.
