For those hot dogs, cut up about 6, put in the bottom of a 9x9 pan, top with chili beans, then top that with cornbread batter. Bake in a 350 oven for about 25 minutes. One pot meal..YUM!

This actually sounds delicious. When my oldest was young he even remembers we used to slice hot dogs diagonal and that's what we put on pizza when we didn't have other meat we wanted to use. My son said he was talking to a coworker the other day and apparently this coworker grew up was sliced hot dogs on their Pizza as well. I thought I was the only one trying to do it in a Frugal way. But your dish sounds amazing

Tip: peel and smash your bananas in a ziplock before freezing (mark how many are in your bag). It’s easier and faster to defrost and use and you don’t have to peel a frozen banana!

Can't you make dog food from the freezer burnt stuff? Your local animal shelter might be interested - when my MIL passed I got to clean out her freezer - 4 large turkeys, bought on sale, not premium quality to start with, but the animal shelter was VERY grateful to get them. Let's face it, they are not well funded to start with, and these days it's just going to get worse. Sadly, one man's ceiling is another man's floor.

It is probably too late now but consider making some shrimp stock out of the shrimp that are probably not freezer burned to the point of being flavor changed. Thaw and smell plus squeeze first to determine if usable.
Take that steak and also thaw it in the fridge. Feel it for stickiness and also smell (especially the fat) before determining it must be tossed. Slow cook it with plenty of flavors be it caramelized inthe oven, crockpot, or stock in a pot. Keep the Temps less than 250 F but ideally between 200 and 225 to keep from further drying it out during cooking.
If freezer burnt veggies haven't begun to actually turn rancid, you can make a crock pot stock/ soup base out of them by cooking on low to draw as much goodness out of them as possible then strain the actual veggies out.

I just found a TON of walnuts when doing one of my freezers. I turned it into the maple walnut syrup in the Ball book 😋 its so yummy! I'm watching this while cleaning out my own freezers tonight! Glad it's not just me spending the last days of the year doing inventory on "all the things"! ❤ I just recently found a rack of ribs from the beginning of 2020. There was not a bit of freezer burn on them. I cooked them up for my son's birthday, and they were delicious! The quality of some foods can change over time the longer it sits in the freezer but USDA claims anything frozen is safe to eat indefinitely. Loving these videos. They are motivational!

My refrigerator freezer is much more of an in-out, quicker use storage. It is also where spills of one type or another are much more likely to occur; sometimes Mr Nobody visits more often. Items coming out of the remote freezers often move into the fridge freezer before being used; especially the "use first" items. Often items to be put in a remote freezer end up in the refrigerator freezer before being trundled off. The fridge freezer is where ill put the about to go bad produce I dice, slice, mash, and shred to hold then use quickly. Its where the small portions of or portioned left overs go to for short term storage, the dry goods beans I cook then freeze for use, and anything else ill be using in the short term of 0 to 3 months. I also use it to freeze cubed mellons to extend the value of a sale into an additional week(s, but it seems despite how much gets frozen it often doesn't last weeks in the fridge freezer). Between using it for short term storage and spills, the refrigerator freezer gets emptied and cleaned at least twice a year and I am NOT a happy camper if a cleaning doesn't last a month or two. - I use bread bags to help coral smaller units of items in the freezers.

Those kitchen freezers are blackholes! I have recently tacked it by doing the following.... Smoothie ingredients and ice pops in one drawer; opened things in the other- like parts of veg bags, frozen garlic, tomato paste blobs, frozen herb butter, frozen herbs blobs, frozen chic broth blobs, frozen orange and lemon blob, etc. - anything that I would use as an addition to a recipe, soup, etc while cooking. This has acutally made the freezer much more useable since it saves me time going to the big freezers.

I inventoried/cleaned my freezer today, too. It was great and also frustrating. I had two packs of macadamia nuts from 2016. Many packages of freezer burned chicken, ham, flank steak, garlic breads, etc... Not again, I told myself. So much energy/money/resources sunk into buying them and then just not using them, makes me disappointed with myself. However, I will grant myself grace, because there is nothing I can do about it now, but do better in the future. I really appreciate the pantry challenges on youtube, for this very reason. I use that top drawer for mostly canning jars full of toasted nuts, toasted oatmeal, SAF yeast, raw cashews, raw almonds, almond flour, backup seasonings, etc. I put a plastic grid-sided bin in the right third of that drawer for things like bacon and sausage and hotdogs and small bags of veg so that I can find it all. Does your top drawer fit quart canning jars? So handy for storying stuff. If the food doesn't come up to the top, or as I use it, I crumple up wax paper or plastic wrap to fill up the air space. Oh, and I put cold packs in the top drawer because the kind I have fits exactly standing up behind the bin.

What you call backstrap we've always referred to as loin. A rose by any other name, right? So, my favorite venison recipe came from a guy at a game dinner years ago. Venison in Currant Jelly: Slice the meat about 1/4", dredge in flour with salt and pepper. As it cooks in a large, deep pan in a bit of butter, (deep pan, you'll need to stir this later on), keep removing pieces to a plate as they are done cooking. When all are cooked through, scrape all of that good stuff on the bottom up and add red currant jelly and red cooking wine. This is off of the top of my head...it's about a third to a half cup of the wine, and the small jar of currant jelly. Jelly melts, mixes with the wine and scrapings and makes a sauce. Put meat back in until warmed through again. Serve with mashed potatoes - very good. Family favorite. I can't remember the ratio of jelly to wine, but you're experienced, you'll feel it out for a nice thick sauce. :) I've doubled the wine and jelly before because this is so good on mashed potatoes. :)

CRANBERRIES….make juice…. So so easy. Rinse and pick any stems Fill jars about 1/3 full. Make a simple syrup or you can add sugar to jar. Water bath or steam can.
I actually ordered the steam canner you showed on your channel but haven’t tried it yet. We didn’t see many cranberries here before thanksgiving so finding any marked down after Christmas was a no go.
Thankfully a friend has a restaurant and is ordering me some from his supplier. We like it just as much as our homemade Concord grape juice. Usually the cranberry cocktail juice is less than 14% juice. The thru cranberry juice only here is about $15 a qt.

My kitchen freezer is my staging freezer. Things we use frequently from the freezer - liquor, flour, cornmeal, rice, frozen veg that I use for dinner, chicken and hamburger that I use from frozen, and my extra sammich meat. We don't have a walmart here so once a month I make a run and buy a months worth of meat for our lunches and freeze all but 1 weeks worth. And the freezer packs for our lunches. My deep freezes are what I need to go through the most. I discovered 3 bags, 1 is labeled chicken bones for broth but the other two, I'm guessing were pork... but may end up in trashcan camp. I forgot abt a bag of dehydrated cherries I'd made for my husband last yr and found them under a bag of catfish today. I got a vacuum sealer for Christmas so I'm going to thaw them and bag them up in smaller portions for hubs to take to work. He LOVES dehydrated cherries to snack on.

OMG - We are fully defrosting, cleaning, and repacking our small chest freezer. Even though its small, it is deeper than an arm's reach and things do get lost down there. I knew we had some butter at the bottom, we've gone sparingly with the butter on top for some time now, and we resisted buying more at almost $4 to almost $5 per pound. There was a whole CASE of 18 pounds total at the bottom of that freezer; no wonder there was a nice flat spot to pack things on top of! This was butter we came across at $2/ lb and as the sell by date drew near it dropped to $1/ lb. We are in butter heaven right now.

I thought I had a good knowledge of what was in my cupboards, but I found all sorts of things, including a few out-of-date that I will now use first. Best of all, I noted down where and what and used my new Sharpie to write dates on various items to make those more visible. It was a very satisfying experience. Now this morning I've thrown lettuce, Swiss chard, spinach, beet, chives, and other seeds into a part of the garden that hubby prepared yesterday. We have rain forecast, and that awful cold is gone, so I think we're ready to start the New Year. Freezer was done last week. THANK you for this encouragement.

With the little smokies, wrap in 1/2 or 1/4 trip of bacon(depending on bacon size) and bake at 400 for 20-30 minutes as a low carb option that is yummy. Sprinkle a little brown sugar or swerve brown sugar for a candy meat option. 🤤,

I wish my fridge freezer looked like your before lol. I need to get out a couple of big coolers and get on organizing them. I know what's in them for the most part because we are creatures of habit. but far to often lately I end up changing dinner plans because I can't easily put my hands on what I want to set out to thaw. I learned a long time ago to never put un vac sealed meat in the freezer, not even if it was for later in the week.

Last year I bought my girls Food Savers for Xmas. They r still thanking me. Last week I went thru my frig freezer - to my surprise it only needed re-adjusting. NOW I MUST do my chest freezer. I know there are "pitchable unknowns" at the bottom. I only want too do this on garbage night, because most of my freezer stuff are meats. Thanx Leisa for taking us on this "reminder" journey. Great video, as usual...

Those Lil smokies are good in the crackpot with a barbecue / grape jelly sauce. I've made mini pigs and blankets with them. My husband used to love them cooked in saukraut over mashed potatoes or with fried potatoes, green peppers and onions. I like them with fried cabbage best I think.
