- This video was filmed just before all the craziness of this pandemic started, and I probably wouldn't have done this if I'd known how hectic it would be to try to get groceries at the end of this week! But here's our what's for dinner this week, using up almost everything in our fridge, and trying to be creative with what's in our pantry and fridge.
Hi everyone! My name is Julie, and I'm a mama to FIVE! My kids are 9, 8, 6, 4, and 1. I post videos every Monday that are either mommy tips, favourites, homeschool curriculum reviews, birth/postpartum tips, hauls, or some other kind of 'mommy' video! I remember growing up and looking in an almost empty fridge and wondering how my mom can make such delicious dinners when she hadn’t went grocery shopping in about a week or two. Haha looking back now I know how she did it because of pantry cooking! Thank you for sharing these meal ideas ☺️👍🏼
I always get so many ideas from looking at other pantries, fridges and freezers. I never thought to put cheese in a plastic tub to keep it fresh and I had no idea that you can freeze hummus. Great video, Julie!
Yay! Love giving ideas 😁 if I remember, I pull the hummus out 1-2 days early and stick it in the fridge. Otherwise I just leave it on the counter for half a day til we eat it. I would say the consistency isn’t quite as smooth, but still so good! 😊
All church services have been suspended here (Alabama) and though stores aren’t, shelves can be a bit bare. Our Costco and other stores let us seniors go early (when stores open) for the first hour. We have to show ID. My husband and I don’t get out much except to do outside chores. It’s different but we know who is in control. Thanks for sharing your pantry as well as those kiddos. Great job as always!

Thanks for sharing your family's pantry/freezer status. Tip for your deep freezer -- use those big cloth/plastic re-usable shopping bags to store your breads and meats -- they have long handles, so it makes pulling stuff out from the bottom much easier. If you put a piece of cardboard on the bottom of the bags, it will help with stacking them.
Our Walmart Grocery pickup has been suspended with the outbreak can't wait for life to get back to normal! Love the video with the ideas!

It's so interesting how when those few perishables are running low we feel like we have no food! If we're down to a dozen eggs, I immediately figure out when I can swing by the store! Same for pretty much all dairy items 😅
Umm yes! We have so much food still, just not the basics we eat on the daily!

I hate to sound dumb, but I never thought of mixing in leftover oatmeal. The current amount of oatmeal I usually make has often been not enough some mornings. Now I feel good about making extra. Great idea!!
You have to work a bit to get the lumps out, but as long as you do that, you can’t notice the difference! I hate to waste food 😆
When we have leftover chili we make pasta and heat up the chili and mix.

Defo enjoyed video, this especially for a time of cutting back and with everything that going on right now. We are paying a little more so we can shop closer to home and take advantage of my husbands employees only shop time. :)

Wow! You did great! When we are trying to eat through our food we usually end up with only a few carrots and maybe limp celery for our veggie supply. I hope you are doing well with all that's going on. Are things shut down up in Canada? I'm from Washington State. We have a mandatory stay home in place. Our grocery stores and gas stations and all essential places are still running and open though. It's been hardest on my 2 teens.
Only essential businesses are open here now. Everything is shut down. We’re doing really well, just missing all our family and friends!
The ultimate freezer/pantry challenge has started. 😁 I'm posting a what I eat in a week video today! Yes, I don't like running out of dairy or eggs either! I'm rationing my cream for my coffee to make it last! Do you cook your pierogies in anything? I made a batch yesterday

Wow never seen bagged milk before, although heard it’s a thing in Canada? I’m in Australia. Do you just pour it into a jug to use it? How do you pour it without it spilling everywhere? So intrigued!!! 😆
Haha! 😁 We put the bag in a pitcher specifically made for it, and just cut a small corner of the bag and pour. 😊
