One thing I did for my pantry and other cabinets was to go get the plastic shoe boxes with lids that are usually $1 and different size baskets and small totes. Makes it so easy to stack/store and easily see what’s where. The shoe box size is great for things like canned tuna, chicken or ham. I have one that’s just gravy, seasoning mixes like chili, taco ; ranch mix etc. I have totes a little larger that shoe boxes that I use… one for spaghetti, one for other pastas etc. I have open bins from dollar tree , one for soups, one for condiments, one for baking items I don’t use often like sprinkles , icing etc. and so on.
Great minds think alike. That is part of my system. I got clear plastic bins and labeled them. I can get an idea of what I need to purchase at a glance. A thief got his hands on part of my food storage and went after my canned meat. So I had to shift my storage to all one location and locked up. I have to recalculate what I have and what I need to purchase.
I am a crazy label girl! Label everything! I am doing the January challenge! My husband actually agreed! He spends way too much time in the grocery stores! He does all the shopping & errands! Yes, he’ll go anywhere or do anything! Lucky….kind of…..but he buys stuff we don’t need! I’m a stay at home person! We are retired, I’m better at it than he is! Either in the kitchen or craft room! I’m new to canning & dehydrating (67 yo) I love it! I can’t seem to stop! My family thinks I’m a little crazy! Whatever! Thank you for pushing me to do an inventory! My husband put in 3 new standing shelves for my new hobby! Beautiful! I’ve been wanting to do this! I have a list of things I want to can or dehydrate. Now I can put my inventory & my wanna does all in this binder! I just cleaned out my kitchen pantry yesterday. Been cleaning out the freezer little by little! I love having plenty of food on hand! Maybe because I’m old but it makes me feel good! Security, especially now! Love all your videos! Binge watching a lot! Next I’m going to try to garden some next year! Warning husband, who mows everything down! Getting raised beds for sure! Thanks!
Your cabinet clearing exercise brought a giggle and a smile to my face....😄 You are just SO good with this kind of thing....your entertainment skills - priceless!! Love you to bits!! Love and blessings from a kitchen in Cape Town. 😘♥️🇿🇦
Maybe not food related so much but this week marks the anniversary of our total loss house fire over 10 years ago. There are a few things I feel I need to share..: We were terribly underinsured. We had had our policy several years so it didn’t keep up with cost of living increases. We had a local agent whose father had been my parents agent. We thought someone local meant someone we could trust …. Nope… Our policy had like $90k to cover staying in a motel or rent but had nothing for debris removal. Let me tell you…whatever is left of your house after a natural disaster is considered hazardous material and it is very very expensive to have removed. I had pictures and videos in a “fireproof “ safe but they’re only good up to a certain temp for like an hour. Never even found it in the rubble. The hydrants weren’t working so it was awful. Take pics or videos of your house , closets drawers etc and email to yourself. Make copies of those special family photos and recipes and store them at a friends or email to yourself. Take a little bit of time and go over your policy and ask your agent questions… stay safe and warm y’all Linda cline
I’m so sorry that happened to you, but I really appreciate your advice! Backup, Backup, Backup! I’m going to make this my goal this year to do what you said!
Good luck and good job everyone! I don't think I can possibly get down on the ground to research my canned goods but my caregiver should be able to. Looks easy enough. And I honestly don't remember what's down there now. I'll probably have to get rid of a lot of it. I also have some new food in a hallway closet I've turned into my pantry. I didn't have a lot of money to work with so it was taking forever to build it up. Then one day I called my Bishop and he and another woman were able to get me a ton of food! I just need some help getting it organized now.
Hopefully you understand that “best by dates” are not expired on dates. I store food in many different places, with the items to use first in the kitchen pantry. The hardest to reach places hold items best by 2024 and later. It is organized more by dates than by what it is, but I’m flexible about what I eat.
You can come do my pantry next lol 😆 🤣 😂 I swear I have a gremlin living in there because it is so packed that every time I open the door that little gremlin throws things at me lol 😆 😅 😂
I love the Unidentified Jar. So many times we think "of course I will remember/be able to identify what's in this jar". NO! STOP! LABEL THE JAR! I have a roll of skinny masking tape and a sharpie in my kitchen at all times.
I wrote down on a piece of paper what's in the cabinet and tape it to the inside of the door. Works well with my dehydrated foods ( I keep in mason jars) and spices. Can open up and look at list to see what's inside without digging through everything.
I have a recipe that Phill may like for his pistachio pudding. Bake a white cake in a 9x13 While still warm, poke holes 1 inch apart with a fork. Mix 1 lg. box of lime jello and pour over the cake. Refrigerate to set. Prepare instant pistachio pudding according to package and spread over cake. Refrigerate to set. Top with cool whip. This one is very popular with my coworkers.😊
Thanks for being so brutally honest with your pantry! Yours is mild, compared to mine! As you were going through yours, I was thinking of meals in my head! I have pretty much all the same things and it’s a mess! Thanks for all this inspiration , so I can clean and organize mine! It helps to know your not the only one! I got so many good ideas in the comments of this one, so I can get organized better and there are some good recipes too!
You have a lot of dead space above the items on each shelf. You could get wire baskets to attach to the inside of your cabinet doors toward the top for all of your food in "envelope packaging" or your spices/sprinkles. That would free up more shelf space and also utilize your dead space.
I label my jars with a piece of scotch tape, one end folded over (for easy removal) and sharpie marker. Saved me more than once! Always think I'll remember; never do!
I must say that the pantry inventory has been so helpful for me. I can’t tell y’all how many times I have referred to it to see if I have an item (esp spices). I keep it in a notebook in my kitchen. This is one habit I will try to keep doing. Thanks!
I feel you! I just did this as well. Thank you for your raw and everyday view. I feel so much better knowing my cabinets aren't alone in their disarray!
Oh look…your cabinets look like mine😂.. I was going to get that done last week but I got a miserable cold, hope to get that job done next week. Great reminder for us all! 😻❤️
Wow your cabinets are just like mine!!! Thank you Leisa for all that you do to encourage people to do all the things!! I'm very grateful for you and all I have learned from you.👩🌾✌🏼🏡😊
I have a couple of "catch all cabinets"! I go through and "organize" about twice each year...usually they collect things while I am working (or clearing countertops as someone unannounced pops in ..) generally odds & ends that may not have its own space (lots of unmarked, unlabeled schtuff that if I die would get tossed because only I know the contents) THIS IS most certainly, most definitely a task that I, too, must tackle within the week (and so not looking forward to it) Mr. Phil has coffee extract! Mine is under my bathroom basin (shhh🤫) along with my other homemade extracts
I dread inventorying because that also means organizing. I dread this task because I my family will undo everything I did making it look pretty. So this year, I am making them help me; whether it's organizing or cleaning. I hope they'll gain a little respect for all the efforts Momma puts into making their tummy's full 😀
I’m so interested in the coffee “ liquor “ ! I love to make honey cake with that! I just finished organizing my dry goods. Thank you for all the inspiration to organize! I found a bunch of dried fruit and made a fruitcake….putting brandy on it now
OMG,laughed thru all this.Loved the look on your face with what’s this? Or the oh that’s where that’s been!Maybe Phil could install sliding shelves for you.Always label your containers, great reminder.
That is the first thing I do in January is clean out my fridges, and kitchen pantry. I keep all my canning supplies in the storage area with all my Forjars flats.
Ok I've subscribed! Been watching your canning vids. Trying to learn. My grandma canned, but I only watched. I remember some things. I miss my grandparents. Thankyou so much for being my teacher now! Much love,Take care, & yes you are a HOOT to watch 🤣🇺🇲❤🇺🇲
My husband and I were out doing some shopping this afternoon and I said I could eat some broccoli cheese soup, I wonder if I have any. He said you should inventory your stuff better and put it on your phone so you know what you have. So tonight while I am canning turkey, I inventoried the bucket with flavored mashed potatoes and the bucket with the Bear Creek items...AND I took pictures of the lists. Thanks for being an inspiration. :)
I'm reorganizing my pantry and getting organized. The pantryntry challenge is going to help with this. Plus, putting together meals for quick dinners and how to use my thrive items and canned goods.
Thank you for this video. I am doing an inventory on my pantry while listening! Needing the motivation to get this done for a pantry tour. I will be looking into Thrive Life after this video.
We have stuff/food stores everywhere because we're in a mobile home. So yup. I have a mess! And I'm sure I don't remember half the stuff we've put away.
Your binky and the blue sparkles in your hair really make a cute presentation. Coffee extract ie.. Kahlua. Dried apricots in alcohol could be apricot brandy. Southern tradition is black eyed peas, cabbage, and ham and cornbread for New Years. Guarantees good luck.
I started with my pantry room yesterday got halfway through and gave up. I’ll start again Friday. Today I did errands and tomorrow I’m keeping my almost 6 month old granddaughter. ❤
Placed an order for 2 more shelving units. While waiting for them, I cleaned out the fridge & top freezer. Got tons to do next week, but still chipping away at smaller tasks. Need to put this el cheapo cabinet together to replace the one that's falling apart - then inventory, organize (and toss some?) of the spices and baking goods I keep in there.
Great job! Lasy night and this morning I have been vacuum sealing the last packages of rice, beans, flour and tea bags that have been sitting in the kitchen. Now to see if the totes that I have are big enough. I may need to go and buy some more. As for my pantry, it is in fairly good shape. I went through it last month and dated cans that weren't already. I keep those closest to their BBD (and past) in the kitchen. The rest are stored wherever I can find a place for them. I really need to start dehydrating some of the canned veggies. to make space. I haven't thought about writing down inventory. I do, however, write down when I use something. After it adds up to a flat, I buy that. I did take advantage of (several times) Walmart's Roll back prices on the broth, soups and veggies. The savings there offset the $6.89 I had to pay for 18 eggs! Thanks for the inspiration!
I have been working on my pantry shelf at a time, organizing and arranging never had wrote anything down but after watching you yes ma’am, I’m gonna write it down
"yes, I'm that age", lol, yep, I'm that old too! hint; you could soak and make a spiced jam with the old apricots, and old dates and prunes are great for stewing and making tarts or filled bars/cookies. really enjoied the video, thanks
Great Job, My mom and I inventoried all the canning items yesterday. Tomorrow will be all the store bought items that are down in the pantry. Plus we inventoried all the food grade buckets. My goal for January is to only replace items that I use. If it is something that I canned I have a list on the refrig that will show that.
I just did this to my pantry cabinet just the other day. I hate doing it, but it looks so good when you are done. Lets get really its not hard, not even time consuming. Just don't like to get started sometimes.
Love your channel & your ease of talking & educating people. Thx for showing cabinet as mine get messy as it just happens when u live with someone like a hubby
I keep blank labels with a sharpie pen in a kitchen cupboard just so I can slap a lable on jars I add things too. Other wise they are a mystery to me too. Hugs I have to do this for sure.
Ah!!……I got those long skinny cupboards too. I don’t like mine at all!! Even when I organize, things get lost. No, no, no……I put cookbooks in them, and chip bags, boxes, anything but cans.
I am doing the challenge again this year but what’s different is I just started my own channel beginning of December so I will get to film my progress with you. I am so excited. I just all my tours last week for 4 freezers, dry goods and spices. I am going as long as I can the plan is for definitely Jan-Feb seeing if I can go longer. Only thing I will be buying is milk for my kids. I will not deny them milk they are huge milk drinkers.
I use permanent marker right on the glass of glass jars. Most brands work if there is no oil or soap film on the glass. Many hand washing dish soaps will take it off. Else rubbing alcohol or acetone based nail polish remover. You can see the labeling without removing the jar and the unmarked lids are more readily used again.
Been sick for the past week so I have not been organizing much, but I am down in the basement. Everytime I go downstairs I am oganizing my jars. having fun making dinners with jars I have
I don’t post videos but I do video myself like you do, talking to myself though, so I can go back and write all of it down on a list. Works great with freezers
I have a recipe for Phil also Pistachio Pudding Salad 1 package instant pistachio pudding (3.4 oz.) 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, reserve the juice 16 oz cottage 8 oz. coolwhip, thawed optional 1/2 cup chopped pecans 1-2 cups mini-marshmallows also optional In a large bowl mix the dry pistachio pudding with the drained pineapple. Mix in the cottage cheese then fold in the coolwhip. Add in 2 tablespoons of pineapple juce and add more if too dry. Mix in pecans and mini-marshmallows if desired. Can also add coconut if desired.Chill at least 1 hour. Enjoy
That’s a great pantry space to have in your kitchen!! I think it’s fun to go through and clean out the old stuff that we don’t use!! I just never have enough space 😩😩😩! I love that cabinet!! I’m going to tackle my bread/snack/protein shake/keto sweetener/gluten free one now that you have inspired me!! Have a great day Leisa!! Next is the spice cabinet by my stove! Oh my!! It contains so much stuff…including thrive life onions, jalapeños, spinach, gravy mix and garlic granules!! I just can’t do without those…but the containers are BIG!! 🥰😘
In the kitchen “pantry” I keep all of my not normal foods and one backup for regularly replenished stuff. Separate cabinet for baking stuff. Everything else goes in my backup pantry downstairs.
I have just gone through a “pantry challenge” and now I have space for new stuff. I’m going to the Asian grocery first for Thai ingredients, then searching for sauerkraut, tikka masala, kalamata olives, and so on. My cupboards were full of pretty basic and low cost food, but I can do better.
I have 2 cabinets in my kitchen for food/ spices. Other 2 for dishes, glasses type stuff.... house is old, kitchen is small. I keep only 1 of each item in kitchen like cornstarch, rest go into pantry area, which was a small bedroom off kitchen. I empty it in kitchen take 1 out of pantry, put it on shopping list on fridge. I keep a roll off painter's tape n a sharpie in drawer in kitchen, before I fill jar, label goes on.... I am not what anyone would say is organized to the average person. It looks like chaos, but it is organized chaos, I know where everything is and how much. Works for me.....Pinterest doesn't live in my house nor house beautiful!!!! LOL! We live in it!! Leisa, jar you pulled out out your tossing maybe baking soda, lol. You had baking powder, but I didn't see baking soda! I could be wrong!!
I store a lot of my pantry items in quart & 1/2 gallon jars. Haven’t thought of putting cereal in them… duh lol 🤪 so simple but that is for the reminder 🤗
I think, if it’s not moldy, it’s good cut up and added to cookies and nut breads. I saw a video from a famous Italian chef, Lydia Bastianich, who used dried apricots, reconstituted them and cooked with a turkey breast, then made a sauce to serve with the carved meat. It looked so delicious!
My hubby loves pistachio pudding too!! Add the ranch powder yo mashed potatoes 🥔 makes it amazingly zingy! 2 peas in a pod! Haha 😄 Excited to start doing this challenge with you! #Canuary and #pantrychallenge Subscribe to see my videos coming up! 🤪
Love to watch other people get organized since I need all the inspiration I can get.

I think you are my “ditto” sister. Only difference is I am 65. LOL
You are a lucky lady to have a husband that works with you so well!! Mine doesn’t!😩
Have fun together!! ❤
I feel so much better after watching you! I'm not the only one with unknown jars!
Nope, it happens to everyone!
I was going through my cupboard & yes, there are a few mystery jars also. 🤔
Amen.
I am always surprised to find something in my pantry I forgot. I multitask like you.
Your cabinet clearing exercise brought a giggle and a smile to my face....😄 You are just SO good with this kind of thing....your entertainment skills - priceless!! Love you to bits!! Love and blessings from a kitchen in Cape Town. 😘♥️🇿🇦
I just love her too!🥰
The 2x4s are an awesome idea!
Thanks!! Custom fit without the custom price
Maybe not food related so much but this week marks the anniversary of our total loss house fire over 10 years ago. There are a few things I feel I need to share..:
We were terribly underinsured. We had had our policy several years so it didn’t keep up with cost of living increases. We had a local agent whose father had been my parents agent. We thought someone local meant someone we could trust …. Nope…
Our policy had like $90k to cover staying in a motel or rent but had nothing for debris removal.
Take a little bit of time and go over your policy and ask your agent questions… stay safe and warm y’all

I’m so sorry all that happened to you. It must have been awful and so life changing. 💔
I’m so sorry that happened to you, but I really appreciate your advice! Backup, Backup, Backup! I’m going to make this my goal this year to do what you said!
Oh that is so helpful to know, thank you!
We all have working kitchens and have our own messes. So it looks perfectly normal to me.
RIGHT?!!! Some of us have “spare ooms” & it’s horrid to look at. That looks much better than mine!!! 🤣
I use a black sharpy on labeling my glass jars. It scrubs off easy when empty. I use canning jars store everything.
If the marker is stubborn to get off I use purell hand sanitizer. Also good for sticky labels too
If the marker is stubborn to get off I use purell hand sanitizer. Also good for sticky labels too
😂😂😂😂 I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE that has a cabinet like this!! Now, it is time for me to go through mine and organize it.

I just did this last week with all of my cupboards, freezers and pantry. I "clean" and organize in December and May.
I do it quarterly to try to keep the chaos to a minimum
I label my jars with a piece of scotch tape, one end folded over (for easy removal) and sharpie marker. Saved me more than once! Always think I'll remember; never do!
Yes I do that too with scotch tape & paper label made from
Index cards
I love all of the storage space you have. My home have very little storage. I end up storing food under beds and in clothes closets.
So enjoyed this! It was like Mary Poppin's bag!
I must say that the pantry inventory has been so helpful for me. I can’t tell y’all how many times I have referred to it to see if I have an item (esp spices). I keep it in a notebook in my kitchen. This is one habit I will try to keep doing. Thanks!

Great job. I've been re organising and decluttering aswell.
Creamed corn, green chili's, onion & a jiffy mix = Mexican cornbread, cheese if you like it. Boom! Dinner😊
I have a couple of "catch all cabinets"!

I did that today in my kitchen with my new downloaded 2023 Pantry Planner. Thanks for all you do. Such motivation
Wonderful!
I’m going to tackle my spices today and reorganize them. I too like to listen to books on audible while I’m working.
Dollar tree has great bin selections for organizing in your cabinets. I use them for all my pharma preps
That is the first thing I do in January is clean out my fridges, and kitchen pantry. I keep all my canning supplies in the storage area with all my Forjars flats.
Awesome….I just did this in November I’m pleased I’m not alone…
Thanks for sharing!

You need one extra shelf in each one of those cabinets. I always have my husband add extra shelves to make my space all useful
My husband and I were out doing some shopping this afternoon and I said I could eat some broccoli cheese soup, I wonder if I have any. He said you should inventory your stuff better and put it on your phone so you know what you have. For those that don't get the hand, if you ask anyone from Michigan where they're from they will use their hand to point out the area...lol 😆
I am always organizing and changing things up.
Love prunes as they r so good for u. Stocked up on prunes as like candy
Great plan!
Thanks for watching!
You can make muffins out of the pancake mix. If you’re eating smaller, make mini muffins
My winter job is kitchen cupboards and closets.
Good luck! I've been going on a organizing spree too. Those containers are amazing for the pantry. I need to order more of them.
I love this. Now, to get someone to do it for me....😁
I am doing the challenge again this year but what’s different is I just started my own channel beginning of December so I will get to film my progress with you. I am so excited. I just all my tours last week for 4 freezers, dry goods and spices. I am going as long as I can the plan is for definitely Jan-Feb seeing if I can go longer. Only thing I will be buying is milk for my kids. I will not deny them milk they are huge milk drinkers.
Thank you for giving me courage to tackle this. Happy New Year!
You can do it!
You are the BEST!!! thank you Leisa!!
Thank you for sharing . So frustrated and overwhelmed but since starting watching your videos , been working it one are at time
You got this!
Thank you for the inspiration!
No judgment! We all have an item or two and mostly to accommodate guests.
Been sick for the past week so I have not been organizing much, but I am down in the basement. Everytime I go downstairs I am oganizing my jars. having fun making dinners with jars I have
These kind of cabinet's are the kind I go spelunking in! I own 3 as well - different configuration, mine are drawers from hell 🥂
I don’t post videos but I do video myself like you do, talking to myself though, so I can go back and write all of it down on a list. Works great with freezers
I have a recipe for Phil also
Pistachio Pudding Salad
1 package instant pistachio pudding (3.4 oz.)
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, reserve the juice
16 oz cottage
8 oz. coolwhip, thawed
optional 1/2 cup chopped pecans
1-2 cups mini-marshmallows also optional
In a large bowl mix the dry pistachio pudding with the drained pineapple.
I loved this! You are kicking it in gear!
Omg you are hilarious!! I feel just how you do about my cupboards! Thank you for the ideas!
You are so welcome!
Lol!! Your funny ( when you said, “yes I have reached that age,” as your holding the prunes)
"no judgement" 😂😂...ok i wont say what i was really thinking 😅
That coffee extract looks great.
It does!
I love watching videos like this LOL
I have just gone through a “pantry challenge” and now I have space for new stuff. I’m going to the Asian grocery first for Thai ingredients, then searching for sauerkraut, tikka masala, kalamata olives, and so on. My cupboards were full of pretty basic and low cost food, but I can do better.
I only use tall bottles in a shelf like that oils vinegars and liquor in back tall bottles all it good for .
I put a can of cream corn and a can of green chilies along with some shredded cheese in my cornbread.
If I had a nickel for every time I came across something I forgot to mark, I think I would be a very rich woman today!!!! 🤣🤣
LOL The " unknown, still unknown" tickled my funny bone.😂 hehehe
I really need to get into my pantry and get it reorganized so I can tell what I have in there.
Baking soda is in two half gallon jars by my mixer....lol. Mystery still unsolved.
I store a lot of my pantry items in quart & 1/2 gallon jars. Haven’t thought of putting cereal in them… duh lol 🤪 so simple but that is for the reminder 🤗
They look great. I have to do the same. It’s going to take me forever or at least it will seem like it 😂
I need to do this....maybe this weekend!
I would be making apricot jam with the dried fruit. That what I do with old dried fruit. I need to do this too.
Haha 😄
Excited to start doing this challenge with you! #Canuary and #pantrychallenge
Subscribe to see my videos coming up! 🤪
I need to do this
