When I was at my strongest I played the Nimzowitsch defense for a year at a high level. I was surprised that it gave me the highest percentage score of any black opening I had used prior. However, in many games I had to find a non-obvious only move to avoid drifting into a lost position (Nh6 instead of Nf6, for example). In one game I refuted OTB Raymond Keene's recommended line against it. I intended to play it until I had a horrible loss, but it never happened.

Being the coach of Magnus, i feel proud that he played well and did justice to my coaching. 👍👍👍

Assuming you are the real deal - CONGRATULATIONS at being where you are at this point in history! :) Is there any strategy or form you can imagine for Magnus to reach 2900 in a way which honors the goal without succumbing to the inertia that seems to exist in the current situation? Also - did you coach him to use this Nimzowitsch defense?

In the position at 7:14 (after Rh8 & the black king escapes the pin by Kd7) could not Magnus have been crushed with fxe6+! because if kxe6, black has the killer B-f5+ (forcing K-d5) then the skewer Rd1 wins black’s Queen. If earlier black king does not take on e6 and instead runs to c8 then white wins a rook for free with e6xRf7. Very hard to believe both players & the commentator would miss these ideas; Am I missing something here?

@@account2198 he qualified for the candidates had a strong first half then just a bad 2nd half. Washed may be premature. It could just be a very bad stretch.

Right after Agadmator says Kg7 not allowing anymore tricks, whit has Rxe5 and if Qxe5 Bd4 pins The back Queen. 14:33 of the video.

Time stamp should be 10:49 and from what I quickly worked out, if Rxe5 Qxc2+, Qxc2, Bxc2, Kxc2, then f2 and Magnus either wins back the bishop and is up 2 pawns or gets another queen

This is actually a rare game where you see Magnus's king is kinda sus but he of course finds a way out ..

The difference between 5 and 10 is 6.8 compared with a difference of 6.9 between 10 and 11. (Not even going to mention 1 and 2...)
