This is classic song in Latina America. You hear and FEEL his passion, his pain. It's the default song for all funerals for moms, grandmas. There was a soap opera about Juan's life. He had a very horrible childhood. He was abandoned by his mother in an orphanage up until he ran away at the age of 15. He made his way to his mother's home, but eventually left and lived on the streets as his mother never really showed him love though he yearned for it. Juan made sure she was financially taken care of when he became famous. Despite how she treated him, Juan loved her dearly.

Juan Gabriel was the youngest of 5 children ( I believe). He was put into adoption by his mother and felt abandoned by his mom. She would make promises of coming by and visiting him, but never did. She wasn’t very affectionate. After many disappointments and mishaps in life he made it as a composer and singer. He always tried to find a place in his mom’s heart, but she just wasn’t a good mom. He even bought her a home and she would prefer to not become involved in his life. Once you know about his sad childhood and teenager years, you can appreciate the song even better.
I'm watching this video and just crying my ass off. Today is mother's day and I'm missing my moms it's been six years since she passed. This is the best song to remember someone who you love so much. ❤

This song makes me feel so sad, but is a beautiful song.
What a great reaction. I saw him twice in his prime and he was all talent. Each concert was over 3 hours long, no intermission, with his songs, his music, his voice and talent in full display. No backup singers, no backup dancers, just him, his Mariachis and his band. From the first song, everyone would stand, sing and dance for the whole concert. No one compared to him. From the 60’s I’ve seen every genre of concerts and no one came close, NO ONE!
From 4:39 to about 5:50 in his video it’s Juan Gabriel COMPLETELY improvising those lyrics! Those are not in the original song, which again is proof of him being one of the greatest performers, lyricist and singers of ALL TIME and not just of Mexico!
There isn’t a Mexican in this world that doesn’t know and at least love one of his thousands of songs!

In Mexico people often get a mariachi to sing this song on their loved ones' funerals. When Kobe died, mariachis went to the staple center in los angeles and played that song for him.
I agreed, at the end of the song is is not singing to the people, he is singing to somebody else. You can feel the pain in his voice and face.
We had mariachis singing this song at my dad's funeral 6 months ago. I couldn't help my tears from falling 😭😭😭😭. My dad loved this song sooo much 😭😭😭

There is not a song in this world that can describe better the pain of grieving a parent. Although my mom is still alive, when I lost my dad this song says exactly how I felt and how I still feel for not having him here with me.

Amor eterno is eternal love and you know when he sings those words its with pure emotion and love. Your mother is your mother no matter what problems you might or may of had. Thank you. A mini series was made about his life they did an awesome job portraying him and telling his life story,about his struggles. It does have subtitles, I highly recommend it. He was a musical genius, he wrote ,and composed over 1,800 songs. He helped some now famous people get their careers off the ground. This song here was also sung by Rocio Durcal it became one of her biggest hits. You should watch her perform this song.
