Holy moly! Given all the challenges that day sent your way, Martin performed like a real hero, getting both boats through the locks and all those tight turns. I was very impressed! I hope everything got sorted out with Nikki's boat, and you all were free to get back underway without losing too much time. Have a great week!
Hi Chris, yes Martin did well didn’t he, so glad we were there for Nikki. We still managed to have a good giggle though and all turned out ok in the end. We ended up at Elton for a few days, it’s a beautiful village, we show more of that next week. Thanks Chris xx
Waw! I loved the cows! You’re so fortunate to be this up close to all the wildlife and animals, fab! And i’m pretty sure Nicky treated you guys to a lovely rum after that journey. ❤
lol, those cows were funny, especially the one who could see her reflection in the window! 😂 Aww even though we had to tow Nikki, we all had a good giggle! Thanks Eric! xx
Wow that was a journey. Glad Niki was with you when her boat lost power. The train station was so interesting. Well done Martin on controlling two boats in that wind, brilliant job 👍 thanks for a fab Vlog as always ❤️❤️❤️xxx
Well done Martin. Not easy manoeuvring two boats in those strong winds. Relief will come wen Nikki's boat is fixed. 🤞Lovely reunion wit friends though. Barry
Hi Barry, Martin did really well didn’t he, he did a good job! Nikki got her boat fixed in the end, we’re actually going to meet up with her again at the Crick boat show which will be lovely. Thank you Barry! xx
Hi Julie and Martin! I started watching your videos about 4 months ago and went back to the beginning to watch my way to the current ones. I’m really enjoying your videos, Martin’s hooter 😂 and Julie your laugh! You are both a joy! Anyway I finally had to post on this video because the cow seeing itself in your boat window had me laughing so hard 😂 I started crying! Thanks for the good laughs and the beautiful travels by narrowboat. I’m a landlocked American in the middle of the country so it’s not surprising how much I love to watch the narrowboat vlogs! Keep up the great work!
Hi Tony, yes Elton is a lovely mooring spot, and the village itself is so pretty. Martin and Nikki did a good job with the boats didn’t they 👍 Thank you xx
Thanks for view of Wansford railway. Have been on Nene valley many years ago but not as far as Wansford. Have been to Wansford village lovely pubs over 40 years ago after we were married. Always enjoy your blogs x
Wandsford is beautiful, but i have sat on those trains and watched the boats pass under the bridge, wishing i was on one. your boat was a legend, coping with weather and towing. well done.
Aww thank you Tessa, it was Martin’s first time towing, he did well 😃 Wansford Station mooring is lovely, you get a good view of the trains and they have a lovely cafe there too xx
Greetings all from Sussex. A very unfortunate breakdown. And very fortunate friends to lend a hand. Tragic sunken boat which is a mystery since I presume no sill to catch on with guillotine lock gates. Hope you are all well. Thanks for your time and efforts to produce your volgs Julie and Martin. Safe journey travels all.
Hi David, thank you! xx Yes always sad to see a sunken boat. Apparently they had entered the full lock and tied the rope too loose, so when they started to raise the guillotine to let the water out, the boat travelled forward and the bow of the boat got hooked somehow onto the top of the guillotine gate. So as the water dropped, the stern went down and filled with water. Really sad and would have happened in literally seconds. 😢 Hope that makes sense. Thanks again xx
Great vid guys … love the drone shots ( I have one, but never get time to use it?) seeing the railway, I should shriek and say ‘it reminds of work’ (and switch it off 😮) but I love Canals, Railways and absolutely can not stand Highways.
@@JulieandMartinonRIB I’m a busy man… working in ( and on ) Rail. It requires a lot of time, both in an office or on site…. Been doing a lot of chugging and fitness training recently ( very important to me . ) gotta stay fit for the boat.
Hi Guys, been subscribed for a few weeks love your videos and information about being on the canal, I won't go into personal issues, but a few people have said that I need a narrow boat, I'm thinking why ? , seeing some of your videos and some other boaters I now know why, definitely think it's a future way forward for mental health. 👍👍👍 May I ask does Nikki have a you tube, I'm just trying to get a board vision of what life on a narrow boat is like. Many thanks, Nige.
Hi Nigel, lovely to have you with us, thank you! xx Narrowboat life is a very laid back, relaxing and stress free life (well as stress free as you make it) So long as you look after you boat and engine and keep to the rules of the canal, it’s slow and peaceful. The boating community is amazing, you make friends every day and everyone helps each other, it’s like going back in time when people were nice to each other. 🥰 Nikki doesn’t have a RUclips channel, she has joked with the idea, but hasn’t as yet, but you never know, she may do. Thanks Nigel! xx
Thank you for your feedback so soon, your video towing Nikki was heart warming of old days on the road when people helped each other. I'm 55, so not messing about, touring the country in the slow lane is looking appealing, I've spent many hears hiking and travelling on foot, thinking of slowing down in a few years so looking now at options. If have any other good you tube friends let me know as really interested in the continual travelling, have I got that right? Can I live on a boat and not have a house?
@@nigelgregory7308 hi Nigel, sorry, didn’t see your reply, RUclips doesn’t always let us know lol. Yes, you do have that right, we continuously cruise, with no marina base. You can of course change your mind and go into a marina, or just go into a marina for winter, or even take a CRT winter mooring, there are many choices. We sold our house, so only have the boat and we love it. There are many RUclips narrowboat channels, quite a few are our friends, there’s One Day More Aboard, Narrowboat Life Unlocked, The Narrowboat Pirate, Narrowboat Will (he’s a single-handed boater and quite funny) hope this helps xx
Yes John, we did, there was no way we would leave her, this was last year, she’s all fixed now and funnily enough, we’re cruising with Nikki again this summer too! Hopefully no breakdowns this year eh! 🤞 Thanks John xx
If you would like to support our channel, you can buy us a coffee here,
so kind of you, thank you! ❤️

I’ve always enjoyed the Elton mooring. Stunning sunsets. Getting out of Elton lock breasted up looked pretty tricky. It’s hard enough single handed.

Nikki is very lucky to have had you two with her and well done Martin for doing a grand job of towing another boat!!
Hi Julie, we’re so glad we were there for Nikki. It was a first for Martin towing another boat, he did good didn’t he 😃 Thanks Julie xx
Loved this beautiful journey! I recently found your channel and you two are brilliant! Those cows were little boys! 😂
Hi Rachel, yes we have since realised that lol 😂 Thank you, so glad you’re enjoying our little videos! Lovely to have you with us! xx
Next time you tow have the towed boat forward of the tug boat by 6 ft to allow the prop and rudder of the tug to allow steering
Thanks for the tip 👍 But strangely enough, as Nikki has a bigger rudder than ours, she was able to help with the steering 😃 xx
❤
Thanks David & Ruth xx
Hi!, The Cattle at 31:00 were Bullocks and not Heifer's 🐦's & 🐝's
Lol, yes we did know that, but it’s easier just to say cows haha 😂 thanks Mike xx
