Thanks for the memories! Spent countless hours in our 5088 moldboard plowing with a 710 IH 5 18" back in the day. Bought the tractor new the fall of 81 and still have it working to this day. It's still my favorite tractor to this day!

Love the 88's Mike ! Really a nice surprise to see one on your videos! Hopefully you can find some classic Deutz , maybe a 100-06 or 130-06 possibly even some 80's models.

Top class footage once again Mike. That farmer had those boards well set. All the stubble was being buried very well.

White/Oliver plows do the absolute best job out of any plow I’ve ever seen, John Deere may have invented it but Oliver perfected it, take care

Thanks for sharing. He's doing a good job and he's not running too fast letting the plow do a good job and it's staying in the ground. He runs his like us when we plow we don't wind up the engine just let it pull and get the job done. I have a 5088 and I like it. Take care.

Glad to see the grass waterway maintained. It doesn't take much of a slope to run a lot of water during a downpour!!!

It’s nice that he didn’t go full throttle while plowing… gotta let it lug some… I feel that’s how you get your best power. Great video… love the moldboard plowing videos

My dad bought a 5088 back in the 90’s and we still have it today. Unfortunately, it caught on fire in the cornfield while my dad was picking corn on January 12, 2019 and is a complete loss. Very sad day, but fortunately my dad got out the cab without being injured. We sure do miss running that good old tractor!! Thanks for sharing this video.

I believe those are M&W curved colters on that plow. We ran them back when I was a kid on our old F145 5 bottom. They were tricky to get set just right but once you got them right they really worked great.

"Normal" tractors like this size are part of the farming solution.. Hiring more workers as well as less Soil Compaction... Easier to transport & maintain.. Gets stuck less & easier to retrieve...
Just large enough to support a front pto & front loader.. I have as yet to ever see a 3-point backhoe attachment...
There are some small Tractors/Excavators that are too small that I would be faster digging by hand.. but jackhammer on small excavator kind of makes sense...
Thx 4 uploading, great quality video & drone shots.. mesmerizing like watching a campfire.. 👍

Growing up, I did tons of plowing with a Case 830 & an Oliver 3 x 16 plow. I then migrated to my Dad's MF 1135 & a White 6x16 plow. I plowed 1000s of acres over those teenage years. We still do some plowing (hay field > corn) due to our soil type in Wisconsin.

Great to see another plowing video . I used to do acres of custom plowing in my area. Does anyone ever have an On - Land hitch on their plow . That's what we always had . I ran am 856 IH with a 6 - 14" bottom the other two were 7-16" . Great & interesting video as always . Thanks

I am an apprentice farmer so, go easy on me. But, isn't that tractor setup light for that kind of plowing work? I guess it has fluid in the tires but no wheel weights or suitcase weights? Doesn't look like she is lacking in power just seems light. The ground does look good after a pass.

Looks like a little side draft on the tractor. We had an Oliver 568 plow with those coulters and it would pull with a sidedraft.

I'm glad that field is still there instead of being developed. Here in Pennsylvania they're in a big hurry to turn all the fields into housing developments and I don't doubt it's that way in Ohio as well. Fun fact: America has the 3rd highest population in the world behind China and India.

In my area we don't need to worry about water ways. We work and seed every acre we can. We welcome that kind of rain if it would. Typical rain fall here is about 4 to 5 on a good year if your really lucky 6 inches a year. Wind erosion was the worst problem but everyone continues seeding now so erosion is a very small problem. A cloud burst is about an inch in an hour. A perfect rain is an inch in a day here.

As I watch the 5088 work, I see that the tractor has these side panels which hides the engine. I can't help but wonder why this idea was not on tractors back in both the Seventies and Sixties. The other thing I notice is that all the newer tractors have road gears that appear to go twice as fast as the old ones. How come tractors from the Sixties and Seventies had slow road gears in comparison to the newer ones? In any case, thanks for showing a good video.

that last series of IH had some issues like the air intake on the hood which would plug up fairly often and the fan shaft that went through the radiator berrings let lose it wreck the radiator on your plowing videos and general field work be nice to know the tractor speed and or what gear they are using and on the plow the size of the molboards also I have never seen colters that are concave like on that plow

    • @brianzybura8633
      @brianzybura8633 Год назад +2

With moldboard ploughing you plough under a lot of weeds, weed seeds, and volunteer corn or beans. You also plough under some fungi. This reduces the amount of herbicides and pesticides that you use.
