The 1206 brings back 70s memories. The sound of a 1206 is like no other tractor. A smooth sound with no clatter that you get from most diesel engines. Changing gears could be a little tricky when you came to the turnrow to change direction.......still a great tractor. Dad had two 1206s that were used mostly for 6 row cultivating, plowing, and other equipment that required a tractor with more pulling power at the time.
I had one ( 1206 ) with a cab, I spent many a night harrowing many a day planting corn, chopping corn silage. That was back in the late 80's early 90's. Men as young boys loved it, still ask about it today. They thought it was the coolest tractor and still do today. I had a JD 5010 at the same time, they both worked like hell, both great tractors.
Love old equipment, we had a 1256 with a Chrome Straight Pipe, that was an Awesome Tractor. I've heard about that deal in Rantoul, il would like to attend one of these years. I'm over south side of Indianapolis, in. Thanks for the videos.
I got to hear that beautiful sound again as I did when I was much younger. Nothing in the world better than that 1206 engine rolling coal on a moldboard plow.
That was a great thing to see. Almost need 2 of those going for occasions like that. I know that if I start farming even in small scale I'm going to get a plow for just in case.
@@WesFarms I agree I love em. It's my dream to have from the 656 to the 1206. Ever since an old family friend sold us the 656 ive been hooked. Anywho have a great day.
I like these videos Wes! I'll say one thing, your dad looks strong enough to rip your arm off and beat you with it! LOL! Looks to me like the farming life style is one hell of a gym! And I'll have to say, listening to that old tractor pull hard with that turbocharger is really really neat! And I didn't realize that you guys didn't do that anymore the moldboard plow thing, but just pretty cool to watch!
That tractor looks and sounds real good, appears to have been well maintained, the plow is set up properly and operator is plowing nicely, some guys turn plowing into a race, which I believe is unnecessary, going to fast,is a good way to break something, is rough on the operator and equipment plus it often makes a mess of the field, anyway job well done and nice video, (got to see the whole tractor, not just the hood and exhaust pipe, and no goofy music)cheers
Hey Wes I have alot of dt407 engine parts brand new injectors a fully rebuilt head and roosa master fuel pump then engine sent a rod through the block but everything else is good oil pump cool water pump and so on
After what I just saw someone treat a 1206 + his $350 Dually driving through fields w-the 06 in tow.. It IS SOO FITTING to see the 'Ol '06 yank those 5 bottoms through that Beautiful Soil! I Have not seen soil like that since I was a boy in VT @ the 'Ol Cedar Ridge Farm......
My Dad used to pull his 5-bottom IH plow with his 706 that had a blower added. He said the 706 did alright except in clay where it'd struggle. He traded the 706 for an 856 that pulled the same plow effortlessly and it didn't have a blower. Just that 15 extra HP made a big difference. By chance those aren't White Park cattle are they?
If that monitor for the air seeder is like our grain planter. You should be able to set your seed size and info into the monitor to get your population more accurate
A little surprised that you plowed into your fence rather than leaving the dead furrow alongside of the fence. Perhaps the last time it was plowed the dead furrow was next to the fence.
Wouldn’t you be able to calculate the actual rate by how much seed to planted (in that first load) over X number of acres? Then dial it back to what your target is?
Only took 14:24 to get to the title of the video. 😩 First and last I'll be watching. It used to be that these types of videos were about the equipment. Now everyone wants to endlessly flap their gums in hopes of becoming youtube famous.
I will argue about the 1206 Turbo - I think it is the best IH as far as looks go, but the JD 4840 is the best looking tractor in the field. I know I am wrong, but it feels right to me.
Why not use modern tillage equipment that doesn't create a hard pan? A disk ripper would have left some soil residue and gave some protection against erosion.

Spent many of hours on the seat of a 1206. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Plowing is so mesmerizing to watch. Please do more clips on that...

Rantoul show is great! You don’t want to miss it!
Gotta love that 1206 laboring away. She’s healthy😁

Brings back memories, mine on a 1466 effortlessly pulling 5 16s
Love the sound
nothing better than watching an old diesel tractor snort
Love the smell of fresh dirt ,my dads plow was red ,it had the automatic reset with the white covers ,boy that will get your attention fast .
Nice soil. Gotta love a perfectly set moldboard plow, no matter what make it is. I miss plowing, it was always my favorite tillage.
Tillage is fun!
❤ YOUR RIGHT IT'S COOL !!! ❤😊😊
Had her sister tractor an 806 that I pulled a 5 bottom with if I didn't have it mounted on the 1066! Great machines!
Brings back the memories had A 1206 AND A 806 back in the day. Worked great then my dad upgraded to the V8 1468.
I could watch that 12 all day long great video keep them coming 👍
That was a great thing to see. Almost need 2 of those going for occasions like that. I know that if I start farming even in small scale I'm going to get a plow for just in case.
what a fantastic sight seeing that ploughing , love it
Man there is nothing better than watching the first pass of newly plowed ground, expect maybe the smell of fresh dirt and diesel.
Love your 1206 !!!!
You're right, that plowing was awesome! Thank you.
The 1206 the best tractor ever built
If it’s old they all look good 👍. Glad you like your air seeder. We reclaimed some acres this year also. Iton weed fiasco lol. Looking good
The 1206 is a beautiful machine but for now I'm happy with my 656. I'm definitely going to try to get a 1206 someday.
I think the 1206 is the sexiest looking tractor ever built!

Plowing with the 1206 starts at 14:30

It hurts my heart what happened to that 12 😫
Here on our New Holland air seeder there is a drive chain that has gears to be flopped for small seeds.
Good sound
No better tractor than a 1206
Greatha will be pissed rolling that coal the old 1206 looks and sounds good
You can argue that if you want..but you're wrong!! Good one!!!
😂

The cattle are shorthorn and shorthorn cross
we had same plow.....pulled it with a ih560 with blower until we blew a head gasket..then bought a ih 806
1206....I believe is 806 with a turbo
Basically
I covered alot of acres with a 1206 and a DMI Hydra Wide plow
Wes. That some good looking soil there. Will you do a soils test before planting ? (corn/beans)
Nope, we will just plant it and test later
God that sounds beautiful
Wow! That's the blackest soil I've ever seen!! Where are all the rocks?
Black sand no rocks
Any tractor that has a turbo decals on it is sexy, even more if you can hear it whistle wile she works love it
👍👍 Love it.

I’ll have to read the book
@@WesFarms yes sir. On ours we set the seed size and count per bag
That ol red paint snorts and does the job just the same as the green paint when it comes to that old tillage.
Agree
Well at least you have two descent peaces of equipment on your farm.
Oh brother 🙄
A little surprised that you plowed into your fence rather than leaving the dead furrow alongside of the fence.

it is about as cool as it gets.. tough 2 beat a 1206 open station!!!
14 minutes before we get to the 1206?
Fast forward I don’t care
Sounds Sweet
Wouldn't mind having those bags that you dumped the stuff out of
What kind of cow was the white and red one on the right
Wouldn’t you be able to calculate the actual rate by how much seed to planted (in that first load) over X number of acres? Then dial it back to what your target is?
That’s what I was doing
Tony Fast Fast Ag Montana good person to reach out to for the smaller grains or even the Welkers
how close are you from your local JD dealership?
15 miles
@@WesFarms wow :)
❤️
What gear was the 1206
Low 3rd
Where from in east central Illinois? I'm in your area
Iroquois County
@@WesFarms Me too,by Milford,Bryce area
Do you all bale your rye?
Nope just cover crops
Look at that black dirt!
Plowing in
Ever wonder why all the old timers are deaf in their left ear?!
WHAAATTT???? 😂
Why didnt he just layoff the whole field?? 😆
What?
Everytime you make a pass, the plow should be in the ground. Thats what im saying..
He wanted to plow it one way, I explained this in the video
Okie dokie. Sure that was pretty.

It was 5 acres and plowing is fun. We don’t do it everywhere
I will say the big bud is the most beautifull. But in your farmall tractor size and hp. Ill still say the massy tops it😂😂
Those are pretty tractors too, but I stand by my statement! Lol
