I love moldboard plowing. I love the seedbed it makes if you plow in the fall and run a field cultivator over it once in the spring. Comes out perfect.
It's very relaxing to watch large farm equipment at work. I love the many viewing angles and drone work in your footage. It's amazing how modern agriculture has freed the vast majority of the population from farm work. The equipment is far more powerful and more comfortable than ever before.
It really got me that one person said it was too wet while another said it was too dry. 😂 But I’m with you, better to have too much tractor than too much implement.
Looks good to me! So many people today have never plowed and don’t understand what they’re talking about. Most tractors today will never be hooked to a plow. Used to be that when you bought a new tractor that you almost automatically bought a new plow to go with it. Plowing is the second most fun you can have with your clothes on…, chopping corn is the first, most fun you can have 😜!
I’m glad someone thinks it was fun! As a young teen I thought opening a quarter section took forever with a 4020 and 5 bottom mounted plow! I’d have died at that age without the simple pleasures of an umbrella shade and fender mounted radio! 😂😂😂 (Edit: synchro range, 3rd gear, 4mph, open station)
Having plowed thousands of acres myself, I wouldn't be happy with job it's doing. Plow improvements have come a long way, perhaps it's an old plow, but it's not completely turning the furrow over, particularly where he's trying to turn it up hill.
Hi Mike! I think the plowing is appropriate for sod. Usually sod is only 1 /12" to 2" thick. So at 3" he is getting most of the sod roots up preventing a large regrowth of it later. I worked on a golf course building it from the start. We hauled 2" rolled sod for the 16 greens. I did that going through college and damn! it was very hard work and heavy stuff. But after the sod was taken the farmer just disced up the ground for a grain crop. And each type of engine makes there own unique sound due to how it was manufactured and the number of cylinders. I do not think the tractor is falling apart lol. I do know that there will be a lot of sod clumps in the field after the discing so they will gradually break down. Keep up the good work!
Mike love it bro I plowed back in the old days when everybody went no till Monsanto brain washing . I left filter strips and had better weed control . I would plow every 2 years and chisel with spike points between . Cheaper and no chem
People just can't go without complaining about anything and everything! You do awesome work and bring us awesome content full of information and it's very helpful and appreciated for sure! We can't let a few sour people ruin it for the rest
Love the old school moldboard plowing video Mike, we're old school too, even thought it's only food plots it's still fun tractor time, keep em videos coming
I heard that audio was added with a dragster or a tractor pull added in dubbing. Just in case if you were looking for comments. Diversity in farming techniques is your specialty. That's why I like Mike 👍. Happy subscriber 😊!
I raked hay once with a John Deere 4850 MFWD with rear duals pulling a New Holland 258 Rolabar rake. All the other tractors were tied up and our raking tractor broke down. I've also seen a neighbor pull a Deere 956 MoCo with a Deere 8650 to mow hay in a pinch. Gotta do what you can to get the work done. Personally, I'd love to plow with a 9620R! Our 9520 gets it done with the 12 bottom Wil-Rich plows though. Great video Mike- thanks for keeping all the armchair farmers in check 😂
I heard your commentary Mike and it made me smile. I’m in England but just want to say that tractor /plough looked like a good setup to me. It was a pleasure to watch.
People just want to get under your skin man. Forget the bad remember the good comments. Those that want to post things like that.We JUST WILL EVER KNOW. Great coverage & videos man keep it up.❤️❤️
Definitely more than 3 inches deep! I plowed like this, then planted beans. Took 2.5 weeks longer for my beans to emerge than the neighbors on the other side of the fence to come up!
And it took a week to plow a decent sized field but hey gotta work with what you have! Always wanted to get into ag but most of the farms close to me won’t hire outside help
From a British point of view , - Impressive Tractor & Ploughing . Visited Canada a few years back and paid a visit to a John Deere Dealer - Yard as big as Hampshire ! LOL . Thanks for sharing
Another great video, thanks for this! This setup is very nice and it’s always a pleasure to watch a good mouldboard plowing video. Keep on, Mike! I’ll be there! Greetings from northeastern France!
Hard to comprehend that you'd get such negative comments for the great footage that you post. As for the comment 'too much tractor for the plough', I think the fact that he covered that large an area in an hour tells its own story. Unlike we Europeans, American farmers appear to favour higher speed with a smaller implement, rather than dragging a tractor to its knees by loading it with an implement size that continually keeps the tractor near or on its limit. The evidence would suggest that it's an approach that works. Great drone footage as always, interesting commentary and little in the way of overly intrusive music - the machines provide their own soundtrack 😊
SOME PEOPLE JUST THINK THEY KNOW IT ALL !!! AND ARE PROBABLY JUST JEALOUS OF THIS GUY AND HIS EQUIPMENT!!! JUST IGNORE THOSE KNOW IT ALL PEOPLE!! I REALLY ENJOYED WATCHING THIS VIDEO KEEP THEM COMING!!
Always liked plowing. Lot bigger than the old 4020 I used to run. Lol. Really nice lookin setup anyways. The ISX and X15 engines do sound different. You can notice it in the road semis as well.
Most of the comments on how it should or shouldn't be done are by young guys, typically in their teens or very early 20's that learned one way from dad or grandpa and think that it is the only way because they were told it was. I don't listen to any of that noise. I just watch and enjoy.
Regarding the comments about the size of the tractor. For me it would be a pleasure to plow with an oversize tractor. I grew up plowing and it seemed like we were always struggling to get the most out of the traction and power we had to pull the biggest plow we could. 5-16's on a 4020 in heavy clay was no picnic.
I agree. When I started on the farm in the 1970’s ploughing was a real struggle. The tractors could never cope. We even ploughed with two tractors chained together at times. Nowadays you’re sitting there in comfort, listening to the stereo and letting Mr Autosteer worry about keeping a straight furrow. It’s not even like work anymore!
Nice video I like seeing the moldboard plow in use. Not trying to be negative like most just an opinion that I have never been overly happy with a John Deere Moldboard. I dont think they turn the sod under well at all. I own a Kvernland now but like the white or IH 720 as well. I try not to plow much at all but when I do my Kvernland turns that sod right over. Thanks for the video like to see how others work their ground.
White always had a good plow. A few years ago I was at a farm auction and there was a 5 Bottom Deere Plow and a 5 Bottom White Plow. Both in good shape and with the auto resets. The White brought twice as much money as the Deere and I was always told the White did a better job. Kvernland is not a plow we really see around here and of course not many folks moldboard around here anymore.
I did tons of plowing as a kid first with a Case 830 & Oliver 3x16" plow, then a MF 1135 & White 6x16". Due to our soil types, we still plow under our sod. Now we use our Fendt 1050 & Kverneland 6300 S 8x14-21" reversible plow.
I have heavy clay in my area, I plow my 100’x60’ garden to help dry out the soil quicker. Learned that quick after a cover crop experiment that went terribly wrong. My sandbox got bigger with age, my JD 40 Standard and a single bottom Deere plow is my happy place.
Yeah, there are some people who are just miserable, and they want everybody else to be as miserable as they are. Don`t pay any attention to them, they will go somewhere else when no one takes the bait. There is just something relaxing about watching tractors plowing fields, especially black dirt and at least half a dozen or more, bottom plows cutting deep furrows and throwing over big dirt. The only thing better, is being there. Thanks for the video.
The only thing missing is the smell of the plowed field. Awesome!
I love moldboard plowing. I love the seedbed it makes if you plow in the fall and run a field cultivator over it once in the spring. Comes out perfect.
What beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your videos.

Now that is plowing. I love seeing a moldboard plow turning over the dirt. Great video, mike
There's something about mould bord ploughing that's lovely to watch thanks Mike
It really got me that one person said it was too wet while another said it was too dry. 😂 But I’m with you, better to have too much tractor than too much implement.
One of them was having a giggle I'm sure
What makes me upset is that I wasn't there to see it in person and maybe bribe the operator in to letting me plow a round. Oh well my loss
Not too wet or dry, the roots of the grass is holding the dirt together. They'll need to run a disc over the field asap to help chop it up.
The way you present your content is professional and easy to understand. This video is really worth sharing with everyone.

It's very satisfying seeing the very clear progress !
I’m glad someone thinks it was fun! As a young teen I thought opening a quarter section took forever with a 4020 and 5 bottom mounted plow! I’d have died at that age without the simple pleasures of an umbrella shade and fender mounted radio! 😂😂😂

Plough!
Another great video. You can never have too much power on the farm.
Yep, overkill is underrated 😉
I love mowboard plowing thanks Mike.

You can never ever go wrong with moldboard plowing… although it’s getting to be a lost art.. awesome video
Thanks for sharing this beautiful video.
People just can't go without complaining about anything and everything! You do awesome work and bring us awesome content full of information and it's very helpful and appreciated for sure! We can't let a few sour people ruin it for the rest
Awesome video of a century old practice that has gone by the wayside, using modern equipment! Beautiful outfit. Thank you for bringing it to us.
Moldboarding sod is so satisfying. Love the video!!
As long as you continue to produce great farming videos, we will get along just fine! Thanks!
Don't listen to some keyboard farmers, I enjoy seeing the field turning from green to brown😃👍
Nice video again Mike👍👍
Mike, you just make me smile !! Yes farming can be fun.
Like your videos. Screw negative comments. Everyone has an opinion they have to share with everyone. Even unsolicited.
Love the old school
moldboard plowing video Mike, we're old school too, even thought it's only food plots it's still fun tractor time, keep em videos coming
Nothing wrong with old school farming.

I heard that audio was added with a dragster or a tractor pull added in dubbing. Just in case if you were looking for comments.
Diversity in farming techniques is your specialty. That's why I like Mike 👍. Happy subscriber 😊!
great video - watching from Oregon. Retired grass seed farmer - we had all the large John Deere's - this makes me smile to watch it!
Lol people are funny I smile jokers are always jokers keep up with the great content
Thanks Mike, great video as always.
Nice to see they kept the trees and brush from taking it over while it was in grass!
To me this is how it’s done I remember my dad running a big case plow an tractor years ago brings back memories
I raked hay once with a John Deere 4850 MFWD with rear duals pulling a New Holland 258 Rolabar rake. All the other tractors were tied up and our raking tractor broke down. Like to see people still plowing, nice looking tractor and plow.
Love your moldboard ploughing videos. In Ireland, its what farmers still do for primary tillage. Minimum till still hasn't taken off yet.
This is one of the most satisfying plow videos. That plow is set perfectly making ribbons from one end to the other.
I just love seeing the plowing videos, so cool!!
People just want to get under your skin man. Forget the bad remember the good comments. Those that want to post things like that.We JUST WILL EVER KNOW. Great coverage & videos man keep it up.❤️❤️
Sweet tractor and coolvideo.
Definitely more than 3 inches deep! I plowed like this, then planted beans. Took 2.5 weeks longer for my beans to emerge than the neighbors on the other side of the fence to come up!
Looks like it's doing a pretty good job to me.
Mike, another good clear video and thanks for it.
Great plowing video Mike.
Back in the day a Farmall Super C and a 2 bottom plow was all we had some people don't have a clue what I'm talking about 😂 great video
And it took a week to plow a decent sized field but hey gotta work with what you have! Always wanted to get into ag but most of the farms close to me won’t hire outside help
Enjoy your videos Mike!
Keep up the good work Mike, I enjoy it

This setup is very nice and it’s always a pleasure to watch a good mouldboard plowing video.

Thanks Mike. Nothing like looking at heavy sod being turned over with plenty of horsepower. Cudos once again.

You will get all kinds of comments. You make great videos. Keep up the good work. 😀
Great video, as usual!!!

Thanks Mike for your videos I grow up ploughing but it is not so popular now days
Hello from Collinwood Tennessee great video 👍👍👍🙏🏻
great video! really enjoyed it thanks
Back in the 70s and 80s when plowing was the more standard tillage I loved the smell of fresh plowed ground.
Arwsome video Mike, it's always pleasing to watch a plowing video, Great work.
Amazing, the longer since I farmed, the better I was!!!
I enjoy ure videos
I love your input sir! 😂 And the content. That’s all I wanted to see. You know what they say about opinions… subscribed.

Great video Mike very nice tractor and plow set up well plenty of horse power doing great work
Plowing videos aren’t that common. Ignore the negative comments you do an awesome job with your videos!!
I love John deere tractors and equipment in action.
A lot of Monday morning quarterbacks out there!
I need this guy to rip some very hard CRP acers full of huge ant mounds that comes out of the program this fall!
Nice job and the tractor sound great👍
1:20 is such a nice wallpaper material or a picture for a calendar.😊

Never too much power especially when you have the means and ability to do that in agriculture.
Good job guys
Another awesome plowin video 👍👍
