I am nearly 40, have dry to very dry skin and love this foundation. I used to have oily skin and tried this foundation then and I hated it. it was soo shiny after a couple of hours. my skin has now changed and I thought I would try this foundation again and it works brilliantly now. I think it probably works best with dry skin such as mine. I put it on at 7am and take it off after 10pm and it still looks very good. I touch up maybe once during the day. I do however blend it onto my face with Sigma F80 which seems to work best I think.

I know this video is three years old. But I just have to tell you that I appreciate your videos. Especially your foundation tests. I’m only 33, but I have my fair share of wrinkles and skin problems. I very much appreciate your authenticity. Nobody on RUclips shows close ups the way you do. Even when they claim to be foundation tests for mature skin. They filter and filter and we have no real idea of what things look like! Anyway. I love your channel! Also your eye looks are always beautiful. Thank you for what you do!!!!

Saved me some money as I got a 40% off this foundation in my email today, was going to try but my pores are huge! Glad I watched... 2years later... lol. 👌

I had such high hopes when I saw this foundation and bought it immediately. Ended up returning it 2 days later. I'm 22 and it settled into fine lines and wrinkles I don't even really have! And I have a normal to slightly oily skin type which is generally perfect for foundations. Definitely a dud for me.

This is an older video obviously. I'm in your demo, a bit older- but with dry skin. You're so lucky you have natural oils. I hear it helps with aging, even though at one time I was slightly oily and now normal to dry in winter- lots of light chemical exfoliation here. This goes on smooth as silk for me, but my skin is virtually without visible pores, thanks Mom. Love your vids. xo

Talk about Your Mileage May Vary- I had a very different experience with this foundation! I am going to be 53 next week. My skin is on the drier side, and my biggest issue is redness, and some enlarged pores on my cheeks. I have very few wrinkles, as I 'suffer' from RBF (resting bitch face 😉). I apply this foundation with my fingers, while my (SPF) moisturizer is still damp, to keep it from catching on my dry patches. I get medium to full coverage, and only set it with powder to help my bronzer and blush apply more evenly on top. If I'm using cream products on top, I can skip the powder and just use setting spray. For me, this is the best foundation I've tried in YEARS. I would encourage anyone with normal to dry skin to go ahead and get a sample; you may be pleasantly surprised.

Denise Brauner Thank u so much for posting this. I have hope that this will work for me. I will sample before I buy to be sure. I do have a lot of hyper-pigmentation so I'm not sure if it will be enough coverage.

felinekj I just heard that Charlotte Tilbury has a new foundation coming out in the fall. I think it's called Magic Foundation. It's supposed to be design to cover hyper-pigmentation and melasma! I can't wait to try it as my melasma drives me nuts!

this is MY *holy grail foundation* :) I'm 47, have plenty of age spots, dry skin & fine lines all over. The key is to moisturize the skin very well, then apply a primer (honestly all of my primers work with this foundation, but I love it with the VDL luminious Primer. Very damp beauty sponge is the ONLY way to apply Born This Way. Any other way is like someone swapped the foundation with something else LOLLLL.
I have foundations from Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder, Stila, It Cosmetics, Armani, Shiseido...doesn't matter! I always reach for my Born this Way when I want to look flawless & I have the time to actually apply it the right way. When I'm in a hurry, I reach for the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation b/c it applies great with the fingers & it doesn't seem to need a primer.

I am turning 44 at the end of the month, and in the past have had the same issues as you have been having. I really appreciate the in-depth review, as I now realize this foundation is NOT for me! when I started having adult acne, I switched over to Avene Cleanance toner and wash. They have been my holy grail face saver!! I recently purchased Algenist Genius Ultimate anti-aging face cream and it's not too over moisturizing, and keeps my skin looking balanced and hydrated.
As for foundations, I've been enjoying IT CC + illumination, Bobby Brown Skin Foundation stick, YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat, and most recently, Estee Lauder Double Wear and UD Naked foundation. The Bobby Brown duo-concealer has been nice, plus it comes with an amazing setting powder as well.
I hope my suggestions help, I love women networking!!! Thanks again for the review :)

I am so glad I found you! I am 46 and get so tired of watching foundation reviews from 20-somethings that do NOT have any of the same concerns that we do! They think most foundations are full coverage and on me, they are light to medium at best. I have rosacea, large pores and broken capillaries with oily skin. Only foundations that work are long wearing ones, but always need concealer to do the real work. I would suggest Kat Von D Lock-it foundation mixed with something like Color Stay or Infallible to get great coverage, set with BE Mineral Veil on a puff. I wish someone would make a highly pigmented product that is thin in consistency! Great review & good luck with the wisdom teeth!

I don't think I am ever going to buy another product without checking with your reviews first.... I bought this a couple weeks ago because everyone on RUclips loved it! I tried it several days, in several ways and wasn't impressed. I think my Revlon foundation is just as good, if not better. I also picked up Maybelline better skin yesterday to try out, and I thought that was even better! I'm 36, and think if you're 20 maybe this would be great, but not for older skin....

My experience with this was exactly like yours. I had high hopes due to all the hype but was disappointed how it accentuated pores/wrinkles and made my skin look drier, rougher and older, even with primer and extra moisturizer, etc. I really appreciate your honest reviews! I vote for a Cover FX Mineral Powder review next. Wishing you and your daughter quick recovery from the dental work!

I don't know if you go back to old videos, to see if there are any new comments, but I wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your over fifties " show and tell " vids. I'm 75 years old with a tiny bit younger looking skin. Small pores, few wrinkles and dry skin. I also have hooded eyes ( born this way ), deep nasolabial folds ( ditto ), and with age - baggy dark undereye circles. I have no facial scars or wisdom spots - just a fair, Irish complexion. Years back I had great success with Mary Kay makeup, and of course huge changes were made and I quit! I've gradually found satisfactory substitutes for the foundation and undereye color corrector, but alas I'm still on the hunt for a cream blush that lasrs. The one thing I miss most is their eyeshadow wet to dry quads. Through mixing different colors ( on the heel of my hand ) I was able to show the tiniest bit of different colors on the 1/8th" skin above the skinniest grey liner. Would you consider doing a few minutes on wet to dry?

I just watched it applied with a brush by Tati on her channel and it looked like it gave a better coverage. She also did like a 12 hour check in and it still looked like it did when she first put it on. Although she is much younger than us 50 gals. That is probably the difference.

I sincerely appreciate how you put this review together. it was such a detailed and thoughtful review. You offered so many angles of perspective (if that makes sense) on this product and I feel it was a total 360 review. Loved it! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am pushing 40 and looking for a complementing foundation. For now, I've settled for loreal infallible pro matte after moving on from lorac foundations. going to watch your other foundation videos now, many of which have some high end names I've been very curious about.

I've always wanted to hear what gals think about Jane Iredale so I will look forward to that review. I was going to try M4E until I saw your review. So instead I tried the Becca Ultimate coverage. It is very thick, super pigmented. I really didn't like it. My skin used to be combo even a little oily. So Bare Minerals powder was my choice for years. Now in my 50s my skin is quite dry and using Retin A makes it even drier. My go to foundation right now is Estee Lauder double wear. Thank you for your thorough reviews. I use many of the products you recommend.

Hi Angie, I just can't wait for your Foundation Friday videos to post. I really like the way you explain the product and give us the close up views. I know it has saved me some money from buying into the hype of some foundations. I still love my it cosmetics probably the best. In the winter I can use other brands. I would love to try the Becca since it works on your skin so nice. I am just waiting to see if you find one better than that before I buy another foundation. Thanks again for an informative video for the 50+ gals.

Over 40 also has a problem with it.. I bougt it.. this past spring & at 1st I was completely disappointed in it .. & found that if I used a little bit of moisturizer before it was somewhat better.. but then I started using a primer & it looked a lot better.. also I got the shade nude which I think for me was the completely wrong shade & even undertone shade . So I think if I had the right color it may work better.. thanks for your care & concern for us over 40 & 50's ...

Thank you for the great and thorough video! I have this foundation and I agree with everything you said. 👌 💖It definitely has a more dewy finish on its own, light to med. It can accentuate pores when I use the wrong primer (dewy/hydrating). Without primer it’s perfect, looks like my skin.
However, if I want a more coverage/longer lasting look, I like to use it with the Benefit primer and it lasts all day. I only use powder on t-zone and pore areas. No need to touch up. This combination has worked wonders for me, even when I’m peeling/dry from tretinoin.
Also, I’d like to add that when I first purchased this I tried 3 different shade samples. The darker shade, vanilla, gave me a more full coverage look, even though it wasn’t that much darker. Warm nude was too dark, more of a tanned look and also looked full coverage/cakey. I ended up choosing porcelain and it gives me a natural light-med coverage glow. Shade is key yet so many ppl struggle with that.

Thanks for the review. This foundation looks like it is quite sheer on the skin, and I prefer more coverage. I no longer break out, but I have redness on one side of my face due to facial nerve damage, so I suspect I would have difficulty covering that. I saw you in Women's Day magazine; congratulations on your new job with them! Good luck with your wisdom teeth removal. I am a retired nurse who worked for two different oral surgeons, as well, over the years ,so I saw a lot of wisdom teeth being extracted! The medications can often make you weepy,so do not be concerned if that happens. They will insert gauze in your mouth right after the procedure, for you to bite down on to stop the bleeding, and it can usually be removed within 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, and discarded. If you see any bleeding return, they usually give you additional gauze to dampen, and reinsert, for another 1/2 hour,or you can use the tannic acid on a moistened tea bag to help with bleeding by biting down on that for the same amount of time.If the bleeding is excessive,or it does not stop, call your oral surgeon, or go to the local Emergency Department. We always encouraged our patients to have their medication scripts filled on the way home, and to take some pain medication as soon as possible, so that it has a chance to work before the freezing the oral surgeon gave you, begins to wear off completely. It is usually ordered to take every 4-6 hours, and for the first few days, you will probably need to take it fairly regularly. No using straws, rinsing the mouth, or blowing your nose for 24 hours (it can dislodge the blood clot formed at the surgical site) , and we found the best ice packs were bags of frozen peas, or corn, wrapped in a damp facecloth, applied for 15 minutes on,and then 15 minutes off, during the first few days. The oral surgeon should give you a syringe so you can begin to flush the operative sites when recommended; that helps to decrease the incidence of getting a 'dry socket'. A dry socket is when the blood clot gets dislodged prematurely from the tooth socket, and the symptoms of pain at the surgical site, and even pain to the ear, may occur 2-7 days following surgery. If this happens, contact your oral surgeon's office. You can also begin rinsing your mouth the following day, 5-6 times a day, especially after eating, with warm water and salt. The corners of your mouth are stretched during surgery so, they may dry out and crack; your lips can be kept moist with over the counter lip balm. Usually the sutures that are used will dissolve on their own within a week, although sometimes one may come out on its own prior to that; don't be alarmed. It sounds like you are stocked up on high calorie, and high protein soft foods that help to provide the nutrients that promote healing post operatively. Drink from a glass the first day, and stay hydrated by increasing your fluid intake to compensate for eating less food initially. Swelling and some bruising is to be expected, and may not reach its peak for up to three days. It may take a few weeks for bruising to resolve, so concealer is your friend! Things should run smoothly, but if you do have significant bleeding, an increase in temperature, or excessive nausea and vomiting, give your oral surgeon a call for instructions on what to do. Good luck to you and your daughter, and we will see you 'on the flip side'! Take care, Sherrey in Southern Ontario❤ P.S Canada's own, Cover FX review when you can, please! I use their loose powder to set my make up, and it is wonderful.Their contour palette was far too orange on me, unfortunately.

Timothy Sherrey Ehler Thanks for the instructions! Those were more detailed than the OS's!! My extraction was super easy, no pain, just local anesthetic, but oh, my poor baby girl! She's in such pain and her face is all swollen and bruised. We're following doctors orders so hopefully she'll be feeling much better in a couple days (we had it done on wednesday) and she's just starting to eat some eggs and mashed potatoes. xo ~angie

Great review Angie! Truly appreciate your wonder efforts with this foundation venture!! I'm a Dental Hygienist and if I may, make a couple of suggestions with your and your daughters up coming procedure.... The oral surgeon will give you post op care instructions. Use lots of ice the first 24 hrs and get pain meds on board before the anesthetic wears off! Too many people wait to see how bad it's going to be after things wear off and then they are in a lot of pain. Take advantage of the anesthetic so the pain meds will work better! Wish both of you all the best!

Dry skin foundations are nice for me. Dr. Denese Hydroshield ingredients compared to hyaluronic acid is what I would like you to look into, Angie. Hope all the wisdom teeth removal goes well and that you and your daughter heal quickly. Thank you for the review!

I have been following you forever and really respect your opinions. Approaching my 70th b-day and having trouble finding the perfect foundation has been a real problem---until my purchase! Burberry Velvet Foundation. I have only worn it twice but so far so good. After watching your review I felt the need to share the info. Also, I just got voluma (spelling) after you gave it high marks. You are beautiful! Keep those videos coming!

Teenage daughters with super vision powers are amazing, aren't they? My daughter always says I have Dalmatian dots on my nose if my foundation is not great. She is 13 so she tells me I should just hang it up already, but at 48, I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel and give up completely! I am not a fan of the new Too Faced foundation, and your review confirmed my thoughts on it, as well. Good foundation, but not an HG for me.

Try mixing L'Oreal pro matte foundation with Rimmel radiance BB cream. Set with NYX banana pressed finishing powder. My skin looks airbrushed! I used Mario Badescu roe water mist as a primer, works great!!

Could I suggest that you try the new Stilla perfectly pore less putty perfector and do a demo on that?

Have tried different mineral/powder foundations and couldn't get any to work. They seem to just make everything worse and not last as long as my HG liquid with mattifying powder. So either would work for me, as I enjoy all of your reviews. I really look forward to them. Great review on the Too Faced. Hope all goes well w/you girls. Take care, Angie!

Hi Angie, This is my first comment, which coincidently coincides with the week of my first hot flash (on Monday night just gone) so I now feel 'officially' qualified to comment. Love these videos. I am on the search for THE foundation. I am 57 and my skin has changed once again to combo. I have pores, wrinkles, fine lines, and some small dry patches. I have tried so many foundations it's great to watch your reviews and save myself some time and money. Although I have yet to find a powder or mineral foundation that will give me the coverage without looking dry and wrinkled, I would love to see the Cover FX next please. Good luck to you & your daughter.

I think you should compare the 2 fndns by putting half on each side of the face every day, alternating sides of the face each day so if you have more skin issues on 1 side, it gets balanced out.

Wow, you're a busy lady! My DH had the same issue with a wisdom tooth this past Monday. He put off for so long, avoiding the (imagined) pain of extraction. But he finally did it. Later that evening it was business as usual and no pain thereafter. Silly man! Many thanks for your search and results...they're fun & informative to watch. 53 here and have tried countless foundations in every price range. Nothing has beat out my Loreal (original, not Lumi) True Super Blendable foundation. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I still get samples and try various others but nothing has come close. Imho, it does it all! :-)

Hi Angie, great video as usual. This is the other Angie and I am 1 year older than you. I am so excited you are going to do Jane iredale. I have been using for 2-3 years now. My derm used it on me originally and it took a few weeks to get the color right. They send so many samples in cute containers. Mine is warm sienna. LOVE IT. I got the bare minerals and becca but I love this one much more. I use the loose powder. Mind you my face is more on the dry side so this powder is great because it really doesn't give caky look. I now have been using it sparingly over the Laura Mecier moisturizer. LOVE IT. Hope you do too. Thanks for the vids.

People were all over you tube raving about this so I tested it on the back of my hand at ULTA and was not impressed! Still, all the hype made me want to give it a try. Although I am 47, people regularly mistake me as being in my 30's so I'd been weighing if I could pull off a foundation so many of the younger women are loving. I went back to ULTA as they have little sample tubs with lids there. I asked the lady if she could color match me and send a sample home with me. The makeup did on my face just what it did on my hand, just sit there looking flat and unnatural, accentuating wrinkles and doing nothing to enhance my natural skin tone. I had enough sample for 2 tries, so the next time I used my regular moisturizer underneath as well as the IT Cosmetics Anti-aging primer. The makeup did the same thing, looking flat on the skin, settling into lines and creases and just looked about as bad as a product as I've ever used on my combo face. It may be for you but do yourself a favor and get a generous sample to try before shelling out the money just to (most possibly) be disappointed.

Thanks for showing this. I discovered your video AFTER I already ordered it from Ulta. I do think it looks much better with the primer. I'll try it when it gets here and film my application. I still have to learn to use the beauty blender, not very skilled. I've been using a foundation brush, but I see the sponge worked much better.

I was going to say, please return it. I don't like anything that makes my pores look bigger, shows imperfections & settles. & if it doesn't last all day its a no. I'm 45, have fine lines & wrinkles, large pores on the tip of my nose & a few on my cheeks. I have broken capillaries & reddish areas & am dry with occasional dry patches & flakes. In spite of all that, my skin is in good shape but I do have my share of challenges. My favorite foundations are, Make Up Forever Face & Body, that's my Holy Grail foundation applied with a damp beauty blender x2 coats. Make Up Forever Liquid Lift applied with a foundation brush x 1 coat & a damp beauty blender for extra coverage where needed. Ellis Faas skin veil applied with their pen & finger tips. Bobbi Brown serum foundation applied with fingers. Bobbi Brown skin stick applied with either fingers, a brush or damp beauty blender. And Maybelline dream wonder fluid applied with a stippling brush, but its not for dry skin. I'm currently using Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue under foundation & I absolutely love it. My favorite setting powders are Make Up Forever HD pressed & Pro Finish, & MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural. My favorite setting Spray is Loreal Infallible, Bobbi Brown, or Make Up Forever. I've found the Loreal Infallible is equally as good as Urban Decay. I use Bobbi Brown hydrating face cream immediately after cleansing which has some primer properties already in it & I've found it to be sufficient for me. I wait about ten minutes before applying Complexion Rescue, I let it dry & then foundation.

Angie, thanks for the review. I'd like to see the Jane Iredale mineral foundation review first. I may still try the Too Faced Born This Way foundation since I have very dry skin, light redness in cheeks, only small lines under my eyes (I don't put foundation there). If all goes well I'll have to post how it worked for my 50 year old dry skin.

I am 35 and have dry skin and large pores and I love this foundation. I don't put it under my eyes because I don't like to put foundation and concealer and then powder because it's to many layers and brings out my fine lines and wrinkles even more. There are so many new foundations out right now and every time I see I new one I want to try it but my collection is already ridiculous. I think I need a foundation intervention.
