That's actually an extremely good question. I'm unfortunately very bad at putting things into words, but the gist of my answer would be that comedy and fucked-up things go together surprisingly well. Humor in general is very good for taking the edge off of serious situations. And black comedy, of course, works by using those serious situations as subject matter. Serial killers and comedy thus have a fantastic symbiotic relationship!... in fiction. It doesn't work quite so well when you try to apply this philosophy to real-life murderers.

🐍 As a person/individual who is diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder I can confirm that switching/coming out like genocide syo isn’t as easy as it seems. Actually, it can be quite confusing and hurt your brain. I haven’t really met nor seen anyone who changes by sneezing but fukawa’s design/character improvement is quite mesmerizing to watch! I was shocked when I first saw the animation, mentioning that fukawa had this disorder. It’s just so uncommon and so fascinating to see that people are finally recognizing it a little bit more considering it’s not common and most people don’t really believe if you say you have it if you don’t show them doctors papers. Though I’m just clearing up a few things and since I kinda wanted to get this out I decided to type it up here. I don’t mean to offend anyone or anything!
