8:03 Trial 6's debate was clearly what this mini-game was designed for. Seeing Keebo argue with two other people while his friends stay silent--their spirits broken--is such a powerful image. It's a great use of that split screen, and is really is soul crushing.
I love these moments when a minigame feature is used in a clever way like this (the only other moment like this I recall was when Kokichi triggered the sword minigame, just so he can have a split screen with Gonta while explaining his "Killing game busters" thingy. Oh, and also the whole switching protagonist thing, the pink lights slowly fading for Kaede and turning blue for Shuichi was a masterpiece)

EVERYTHING about the 4th class trial debate is perfect. The way the camera rotates, and you see Gonta's tears, Tsumugi's and Kaito's anger, Keebo's confliction and Himiko's worry, and especially Kokichi's malicious smirk. The fact that all the debates before were protecting themselves, yet this one was for protecting someone else made me love it so much more than any other, and just made me LOVE Kaito even more. The fact that he was so vocal to defend someone, just shows how awesome he is. And it's so heartbreaking to see Gonta crying all over the place as they speak over themselves to solely defend him. And even Shuichi's comment after the entire thing says "but it's the truth". Hdhhfhfhfnf I love this game
Yessss and another thing I'd like to add are how Shuichi and Kaito's bodies are facing different directions, symbolising how they're both at odds at this point in the trial
I wish the MPD we're used more often because I really like the concept of them and it makes the trials more realistic as I can actually see multiple people arguing over each other at once.
I can't imagine any more than like... 2-3 per trial. Otherwise, it would probably get old. Same thing with Debate Scrums. The only thing I can feasibly see wouldn't get old would be Perjuries

[Inspired by a comment] I love how in the first mass panic debate, the voices are quiet because Kaede has good hearing as a ultimate pianist In the second, third, fourth, and fifth, the voices are loud because shuichi probably has okayish hearing (can’t really describe that but yknow) And for the last one, it seem’s like Keebo only purposely heard the word despair so he could refute it, because it seem’s like everytime there’s a “despair” statement, it’s way louder
these debates we're definitely my favorite addition to the class trials. mass panic debates really would be happening in a setting such as this so i'm really glad they knocked it out of the park with the concept.
Literally my favorite mechanic in Daganronpa, it’s been a year since I’ve finished the game and this minigame still sticks with me. These would’ve been mental in DR2.

Random fun facts: (Spoilers) -Maki has appeared in every Mass Panic Debate. -Ryoma doesn’t appear in any MPD. -Korekiyo and Kirumi appear in the lowest number of MPDs, at one each. -Korekiyo has the least amount of lines, at only 2. Second least is Miu ironically, at 4. -Keebo has appeared in the highest number of split frames, unless you count Junko!Tsumugi and “normal” Tsumugi seperately, in which case they tie, at 7. -Exisal!Kokichi and Gonta are the only two students with more than one Loud Voice, and Exisal!Kokichi is the only student with two in the same trial and the same frame. Otherwise out of all the non-students, Monokuma has them all beat. -Chapter 3 is the only MPD where a Loud Voice doesn’t obscure the argue spot needed to proceed in any way. -None of the MPDs have 3 Loud Voices.
