Yep, since the protagonist typically doesn't really get angry. So when the mastermind triggers their breaking point and they swear like a sailor, it's the most surprising and hilarious thing in the world.
I love the screen effects when the lie bullet is engaged. The shifty eyes seems to be a neat representation of how a person who's about to lie might act all shifty and nervous about it, which also ties into the gradual loss of Influence.

One thing I like is that when Kaede lies you can see her feel kinda guilty when you hit a lie bullet unlike Shuichi who understands that lying will bring a truth behind a lie. And I do understand that kaede also understands this same theory but the fact that she feels guilty for lying to her fellow friends is just so heartwarming

I don't know if I like the Lie bullet branching paths. It seems to make Shuichi seem scummy or like he can't rely on his own deduction using evidence. I only like the lie bullets when there's no other way to get to the truth.

i feel like it would have been better the other way around, with the lies being the main path and the truths being a backroute, especially since they are usually faster than the lies.

Not really, just circumstantial evidence available, so a lie is used to trip the culprit up(and gain confidence from the rest)
