- No License Required Moped SMASHES HILLS and DISTANCE! Eskuta SX-250
This is the SX-250 an ebike that's built like a moped from Eskuta. It's an amazing machine and I did a first ride review on it a few months back. Ahead of the full review it returns for a Hill Climb and Range Test.
And let me tell you this Electric Moped bike thingy does really well. But how fast did it get up Sandy Lane?

Yes I've waited ages for this hill test for the Eskuta. Love your content, you're one of favorite content creators, I love the way you push for personal mobility it's way more fun and sustainable than owning a car.
Ah thanks glad you enjoy it. And you're right, it's so much fun!
Mine should be arriving this Friday, well exited and i now see i can even go and get me some fish and chips on it too! That one certainly sold it to me!
@gswella3294 haha. You'll love it! The best 3 things about it for me are storage, passenger carrying and the abilito ride right up to shops and leave it outside without locking it.
I agree, i wanted one of these to become less reliant on a car, to be fair i barely use my car now anyway only to go and get shopping, that could easily be done on one of these.
🤙🏼⚡🤙🏼
*We need more eBikes/eScooters/Mopeds like this!*
Definitely. Although I wouldn't want to pedal an esk8 😂😂
Amazing video as always. Smashing performance from this bike! 28 miles with hills is pretty decent. I wouldn’t want to ride the battery much below 9% so as not to damage it. Really interesting that pedalling doesn’t really help but is essential to get the motor moving! I’d be having a mental battle the whole time of whether my pedalling is worth the effort 😂😂
Cheers! Yeah it's weird because I automatically pedal fast then I usually remind myself not to especially when passing people who look. Play it cool 😎 😂
The scooter did well going up that hill my 1000w mid-drive loves hills there's a hill in Sheffield that some cars have to drop down to second gear to make it up but the mid-drive smiles going up the same hill it's like a mountain goat 🐐 😊the SX 250W Has got loads of torque I like it a lot I may have to get one myself because its legal
@@tommaguzzi1723 😭
@tommaguzzi1723 that's true, but I do ride safety, and i respect the road users and the pedestrians,so I don't draw attention to myself
I have the same bike with Kuma branding in Ireland, and I have to say I absolutely love using it. Only snag is the really distinct battery enclosure shape that doesn't seem to be available to get on its own. I want a higher capacity battery than the ones available in UK/Ireland, but I don't want to have to learn to build one totally from scratch or jury rig something that only sort-of fits the battery space. If anybody has come across a generic higher cap battery I can buy off the shelf and pop in, I'd love to know.
I've had my eskuta for almost two months and where I live I've got quite hills I'm managing the hill with no problems one I thought I wouldn't get up and I did at 6/7 mph..... I was pulled over by the police in my second week of riding and all they were interested in was how it works cost ect and I weigh 13 st five I'm extremely happy with the eskuta
Haha awesome. I was so surprised by how well it does.
Seen loads of these around Torquay being used by nurses\ carers with actual NHS branding on them. Having done a vid in brixham you know torquay is a bloody hilly place too
Oh absolutely... way more than in this video. I take it they can do the hills? Slowly but surely 😂😂
Ive seen alot of ebike the around the same price. But this e bike offers so much more in terms of specs
Yep plus storage and ability to rock up and leave it outside shops with the alarm/immobiliser on 😃
You may like to try the sheep walk in Kinver...that's real steep great views at the top...
Brilliant video!! Need to do some hill tests around high wycombe. What camera equipment are you using please. Hope all is well, take care
Thanks very much! The 360.is an insta360 x2 which is usually much better though I'd like to upgrade to the x3 as it does proper hdr. My chest cam and face cam for some parts is a gopro hero 9. Great camera but the battery drains fast.
Those are mere pimples of hills, come to the Brecon Beacons!
I just got a specialised turbo Vado 5.0 it's easier to go up hill (probo steep) than flat!
😂😂
Would be interesting to see tracked GPS for some of this. I know you won't want to give away home location but some of the inclines would be good to see
Walsall, north of Birmingham
I say the street names and im near Wolverhampton. Maybe you can look them up?
Around how long do you think it can keep riding in normal conditions (no massive hills and such, just around the city centre) before running out of power?
Hi mate just ordered mine should be with me in a couple weeks just wanted to say thanks for the review of the sx250 just wanted to ask you about de risticting it off road use only of course
Haha no problem and off road of course 😉. There's a video on it's really ssimple just a wire hidden under the battery that you unplug. Thing is it's obviously not meant to run derestricted I reckon the range is about 6-7 miles derestricted. It runs down FAST. However, it has a speed switch 1-3. 1 is 15.5, 2 about 19, 3 about 23 for me at least. If it were derestricted you could keep it on setting 1 - legal setting. Then if you need a quick boost - to get away from thieves or on a hairy road you could temporarily boost to 2/3. However it does make the bike kind of pointless then as you're simply riding a moped without legal stuff. They need to hide the speed switch lol. Anyway, enjoy it's a fantastic machine 👍
Wicked thanks for your reply be nice to meet up and go for a ride lol I'm in Bromsgrove not too far away 😉
Engwe t14 takes a farily decent crap on that but a very good channel and always good reviews.
Haha thanks. I have the t14 but yet to review it. You like it?
How about the gigabite groove? Had a 500 watt motor
The little bike that could😁
😊😊
Excellent for a teenager to get to work on 😮❤🤣💯🙏🤟🤠
Absolutely!
Hi love the video, i need your help please, i brought an electric bike with a s866 controller when i tryed the bike for the 1st time pedal assist worked fine, then i messed with the settings on the s866, and now i can not get pedal assist to work iv tryed everything watched all the youtube videos but can not get pedal assist to work, as i told you b4 i live in pendeford wolves, can you look at the bike for me please, i need help.
Any experience of loading one of these into the back of a car or onto a suitable car rack at all please?
Bring it to Halifax Yorkshire
There is a place not too far that's got crazy steep hills. I considered taking it there but I was near the end of my battery
I see a few People riding it in Bradford, someone smoked past me riding my dualtron mini at 20mph on the path so I think he's deristricted it or something
Actually I'm wondering that where you park your Eskuta when you back home...
I suppose you can't carry it up to a flat. But it could be stored like a motorbike unless you had a lift.
Hi I would like to ask what height of rider is this suited to
So how does this bike do hils like this . But others fail on a normal e bike
What about dual motor e bikes and e scooters, do you have plans to try some out on your hill climb test? 😊
Indeed. Trying to source one 👍
@@e-VRC 👍🏻
Now imagine doing the climbs without the motor?
In the USA we can go faster this bike is watered down for us to bad cause it’s a cool looking bike. But I can be moving around doing 15-20 max 250 watt motor lol 😂😂 killing me I’ll get it for my 6 year old if I had one
Hey I got my eskuta bike and how do I fit my s24 ultra on to holder
I seem to remember the Eskuta phone holder being quite small? You may need another one.
Needs a different bms
But the legal maximum weight is 40kg , how is this legal?
I haven't heard of a weight limit. Got a link?
they removed weight limit
why haven't you derestricted it yet? as far as I'm aware there's a wire you can unplug on the controller and possibly also a throttle connection.
Who said I hadn't?
Forgot wink face 😉
@@e-VRC do a video of you riding it in England America 😜:)
@JudeTheRUclipsPoopersubscribe haha. I might talk about it in the review. Tbh I re-restricted it for the hill climb. The battery runs down FAST when de-restricted.
@@e-VRC how fast does it go and is there a place to plug in a throttle?. The second version had it idk if they changed this one.
When you say you're helping the bike, what do you mean?
At 15+ mph when you pedal it's hard to help push the wheels around like you would on a normal bike. However, when you're going slow up a hill, when you pedal you can help push the wheels around and help the motor.
I've just seen a sx 250D on ebay for £1,100 new
Thinking about it?
You was mainly going downhill mate lol
Personally, I would put a 5,000 watt motor and a 52 volt battery on it. 250 watts might cut the mustard on your little slopes, but the hills around here in Huddersfield, Yorkshire are real ones, REALLY steep ones. I have a full bike licence and would feel insulted riding around on something this puny and weak.
If I passed my full bike license and someone gave me a 250w scooter you have to pedal I'd feel insulted too. But if I passed my pilots licence and they gave me a motorbike I'd feel the same. Horses for courses.
mate i'm on an A1 license and yeah i wouldn't ride this thing, too weak haha. my ebike does 1500w of power and my little 125cc scooters engine is 9300w apparently max power lol.
The thing I don't like about this one is catching the pedals around a corner. Seems dangerous to me.
I think it's more annoying than dangerous tbh.
@@e-VRC I nearly come off with it doing that mate
Sadly the Eskuta sx250 is NOT street legal…its 48volt battery exceeds the regulations max 36v and an over zealous copper COULD get you prosecuted just on that. You really should be more honest about that mate, or correct me if I am wrong! Side view the sx250 shows chain connected crank and rear cogs of about the same size….so peddle effort should be even less than first gear on a normal bike. Which is why anything over about 5mph is effortless ‘Ghost peddling’ that just activates the motor. Unfortunately there seem to be no ‘cool’ genuinely street legal electrically assisted peddle cycles available…and none that could cope with a 120 Kg+ heavy rider up hills. The law is stupid, prejudicial and it stinks.😢 But TY for making this video.
I thought the voltage doesn't matter it's only based on wattage? Am I incorrect in thinking that?
An EAPC must have pedals that can be used to propel it.
It must show either:
the power output
the manufacturer of the motor
It must also show either:
the battery’s voltage
the maximum speed of the bike
Its electric motor:
must have a maximum power output of 250 watts
should not be able to propel the bike when it’s travelling more than 15.5mph
An EAPC can have more than 2 wheels (for example, a tricycle).
This is from goverment website. No mention about battery max voltage, no mention about "ghost pedalling" (same rule apply if You brake a chain in e-bike and comming back only by the hub motor pedalling "in the air"). So it is NOT illegal.
Every time someone says 48v is illegal, I ask for a link and they never reply.
There is no law against a 48v battery and no law against ghost pedalling on a cadence sensor. you could pair a 72v battery and use a very high amp controller with a 250w motor and it would still be legal on uk roads.
Hmmm yes, a british ebike company that supply's these bikes to Just Eat, one of the biggest food delivery partners in the UK, would make an illegal EBike
This bike has far more power than 250W they are lying that it has only 250W.
I think there may be loopholes 😉
You buy an Ezkuta and then they don’t have parts in case the bike needs fixing
Don’t buy Ezkuta guys
