It wasn't 48 hours after Toni got her upright bass that I heard her figuring out the bass part for "Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin, so I called up my friend Shane Akers on dobro and we figured out a little acoustic trio arrangement. Hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed making it! Oh, and shout out to the owner of the business that appears behind us: Wet Paint, an arts supply store in St. Paul, MN. He heard music coming from the alley behind his store, so he came out to see what we were doing, and instead of telling us to pack up and leave, he welcomed us with open arms and stuck around to watch the filming of this video. This is why we love small businesses! :)

Toni and I, as well as our friends Josh Turner and Carson McKee (The Other Favorites), are traveling all over Europe as I write this message. We've played our first shows of the tour this week and they have been amazing (and sold out!), so if you live across the pond and plan to join us, make sure and grab your tickets soon! reinadelcid.com/#shows

Hope you guys enjoy our Zep cover! Also... any Lord of the Rings fans in the house? How about that third verse? I don't think I ever caught the Middle Earth references in this song before we sat down to learn it. :D
I'm 61 years old and have been a Led Zep fan for more years than I can remember. All I can say is, you nailed it! Smashed it, crushed it and not only that; you did an amazing job of it. Way to go!! I remember being a teenager, listening to the song, and wondering what the heck a Mordor was and who the heck Gullum was. I thought it must be a reference from literature but it was some years later before I read Tolkien and connected the dots. I love your music girl...please carry on.
Reina del Cid - I read “The Hobbit” as part of 7th grade English Literature in 1980. Went on to read “The Trilogy” immediately after because I was so hooked by The Hobbit. Was very into Led Zep at the time because I was a child/product in the 70’s (John Bonham had just died). Knew the lyrics to the song long before reading Tolkien and figuring out what it meant. Anyway you girls ROCK!!! When are you touring the East Coast of the United States. Would love to see a live show!
Yep, they refer or may refer to LOTR in several songs. The Battle of Evermore is obviously one, as is this, and some say "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Over the Hills and Far Away" are as well, at least in the titles. I had already read LOTR and was a ringophile when Zep started, so I was pleased to hear the references. Great rendition.
In the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair. Then Golem, the evil one, crept up and slipped away with her her, her her, her yeah!
Cool, huh? Love Zeppelin! And love Reina del Cid! Tap on my profile picture and check out my original songs. Playlist titled MountainMan has 12 originals and 1 Jimi Hendrix cover. All acoustic, no FX, 1 take, warts and all. I have been leaving you guys comments for over a year now, hoping you would listen to my music. You might like it! And it would make my year to know that you actually saw this and listened, or commented about my songs. Seriously, I really respect your musicianship, and would love to hear what you think. Tell the truth. Thanks!🙂
We want more.
I think this is Reina’s best performance. The song is perfect for her voice!
Women have better luck with Robert Plant than guys. Not being funny. He had a distinct kind of voice.
@@Jeff-jg7jh My thoughts 💭 exactly. Plant’s alto/tenor is definitely unique. Even he can’t hit those notes any more.
Reina looks like she is really feeling the music, in the moment and enjoying it!
Not really - needs a powerhouse singer for this song. e.g. ruclips.net/video/-7fMOAdKYaI/видео.html
@@danb135 I think that is EXACTLY why I enjoy their performances so much, they all always seem to be feeling it, pure love of the craft!
Reina nailed the strum pattern. The collaboration is what makes it magical. I love when musicians play different instruments or fill different roles to be a part of something wonderful. True musicianship.!!!!
Toni was working that bass & the harmonies. Two talented young beautiful girls with old souls. Stellar performance of one of my favorites.
Toni is the queen of all my dreams.
Yes she is!
Never fails to amaze!!
We often feel that we understand beauty when it is presented to us in a form we appreciate. But then an artist says listen or look from a different perspective and feel the beauty I feel. Nothing from the heart can be more selflessly given than the gift of kindness expressed through shared beauty.
I love how you guys cover a song of any genre, capture the original feel of the song, and make it with your own unique sound. So Good!
I've watched this at least 50 times. So much to take in. The guitar is unbelievable considering you are singing. Then the vocals, Toni on the bass. The dobro...the freaking dobro! Absolutely fantastic arrangement.
This is so well done. What a great version of the song.
My
A classic, Toni is magnificent with her double bass, and yet her charming smile!
The rhythmatic flow. Is something much different. And suits the song as nicely as LED ZEPPELIN brought to us.
Uh... no.
I just love your wide range of music choices.Happy Sunday to you all. Thank you for sharing with us
Reina is truly the Goddess Queen of artful rhythm guitar with stellar vocals
Love how Reina kina squints out the lyrics with her quirky mona lisa smirk when she's really into it. Keep on keepin' on.
That "quirky smirk" is *so* endearing. ❤️
Agreed I just love her!!
One of my favorite Zeppelin songs back in the day. Often wondered if any of those songs could be done acoustically. Now I know. Great job.
This cover of Ramble On just goes to show it can be played in any genre. This group does a wonderful job.
I think it shows the opposite. Although all genres can be mixed, it would be ridiculous to think otherwise. However, this was executed well -- I'm assuming -- but incredibly boring: harmony was mediocre, the dobro lead was flat over and over again. Plus, I find singers of this nature to be a dime a dozen -- no big deal.
@@matthewhorizon6050 You are assuming it was well executed? So your not sure. To tell the truth, I was a little disappointed with the dobro...at first. But, is was perfect for this version. Vocals were perfect. Matt, maybe the next time you hear this you will have a different point of view depending on your position on music.
I think it again proves that female voices cover Led Zeppelin the best
Double that about the dobro. The first milisconds I was shocked and disappointed. Got over that real fast.
Just reviewing this vid; I was about three seconds into the dobro and was; Oh, man, I hate slide.. for about three seconds. Then like you, heard it for what it was. As close to the real thing as you can get. This is one of the tunes that I play often by Miss Cordova and friends.
I'm glad you kept the vocal phrasing true to plant because it doesn't get any better! Excellent cover by all you guys.
Oh my you did this so good!!!! That bass is spot on!!!!! It's all spot on!!!!!!
have no words to say how it's great ! thank you guys for these intense vibrations!
I got on a kick looking for covers of Ramble on and this is my favorite that I’ve found by far!
Loved it!!! Another great arrangement. You, and all the other great, young musicians you play with, (Toni, Josh, Carson) make me truly believe that all of you "get it", whether it's Patsy Cline, The Beatles, Tracy Chapman, or LED ZEPPELIN (imitates Jack Black), I am grateful that all of you share it with us. Your originals rock, and represent the future of singer/songwriters, in an era of stale, corporate produced, "stars". I subscribed to all of your channels awhile ago, and like many have said, I look forward to your posts,, and I can't recall ever being disappointed. Thank you all!!!
Absolutely the best cover of this song I have ever heard. Wonderful!
Have been listening to your videos for a while and become sort of addicted to them. Your talent, your sheer musicality and your soulfulness really grabs me. And now you've nailed me! Reina your voice is really coming from inside of you. Toni you are not just playing music, you ARE music. A legendary song has been given a new life. And the way you do it!!! You two make the world a better place.
So refreshing to hear someone who is not screaming and hollering and pretending, just singing and doing a dang good job of it 👌
Toni is seriously amazing and so talented.
Wow!!! Reina, Toni & Team! I love everything you guys do, but this tops the best. Love the arrangement, instrumentation and Reina’s understated vocals. The slide lead and bass are awesome too.
I get most of my enjoyment from y’all’s covers because of how much it looks like y’all are having fun playing together. Ramble on...
Probably my fav. Watching people love what they do. Your intensity is my joy
That's a terribly hard song to perform ...and you nailed it. Very nice, thank you!
That was a pleasant surprise! I've been a fan since the "girl with the blue guitar" days, but opened this with apprehensive curiosity. This song didn't seem like something that would fit well with you and Toni's style. I was dead wrong. Not only did you pull this off, it may be in your top 10 of covers. The addition of Shane on this was brilliant. GREAT JOB!! Cheers \=/ \=/
You guys are wonderful. I never cease to be amazed by your incredible range of music genres.
I love that you're using different instruments and having fun. One of the reasons I listen to classical music.
RdC, you rock my life. Keep setting higher standards. Don't know anyone who appears to enjoy his/her music any more than Toni. Reina, with your musical talent and extraordinary good looks, potential seems unlimited.
Love this! The instrumentation is simple but super effective. Great job 👍🏻👍🏻❤️
The enjoyment you have performing shines through....bravo to you all...
I loved the swinging of Toni in this clip. She brought more energy for all the context of this song. Thank you. Hugs from south Brazil.
One of my favorite songs of all time! Great job!
Show some love even for the guy on the lap steel who kills it
Certainly 100%. 👍
Absolut
Absolutely fabulous!
WOW! This blows me away! What a great job with this. LOVE the dobro!
Outstanding, as usual! Love the Dobro! Great work guys!
You all are so talented! This is my fav- love it
Hell yeah
Brilliant as usual,,never fail to impress, x
My favorite Led Zeppelin song! You guys kill it in your own unique way. Love it!
my absolute favourite of all your covers and I keep coming back to it. You guys look as if you are having such a blast playing this, especially Toni on that double bass
Best cover I've ever seen of this song you guys are awesome
Wow. What a great acoustic version. Lot of talent there.
Amazing performance! You guys never let us down! I just sit here and listen with a big smile on my face.
You girls just rock! I love the unique style you bring to everything you play and this is no exception. You are a such an inspiration for me in my playing. Brilliant!
you are great together!!! Congratulations for Tony and her new bass(!)>>wonderful player
Absolutely incredible cover. You guys are great.
One of my favourite songs ever. Very well done to all of you.
WOW!!!!! Amazing!!! You all made this one work real well. Thank you.
Just love this acoustic version. Jimmy must be jealous. Reina’s powerful vocals combined with Toni’s bass.....exquisite
Ell, formally known as Reina. A little play on X
What a coincidence for me. I’ve been going back to this song!!! Beautiful version that you put your signature on instead of recreating it.
Wow. Probably my favourite Led Zep song absolutely nailed in a brilliant style. Absolutely loved this - brilliant job everyone. Have a soft spot for Toni and her guitar work but she nails the upright here too! Talented bunch of people.
This a a really magical performance. Y’know the kind where you realize your jaw has been agape the last couple of minutes. Wow.
Came back to this because you guys are so good . Real talent and I would definitely come see you if your in the UK again.
Love it...awesome job.. one of my favorites
Perfect song for Reina. Best one I ever heard her do by a mile.
You guys are absolutely fantastic. I love your energy, your spirit, and the fun you have making music. Everyone on your vids are so talented. Your circle of musician friends who periodically join you or collaborate with you seem to be able to play anything and any instrument. Your arrangements and interpretations of songs are honest and sincere. You truly do rock. Please keep it up. Please keep sharing the obvious joy in what you do, and making people like me smile.
This song sounds great with the Dobro, love the arrangements
You guys continue to blow me away. Bluegrass Zep. Never imagined how good it could sound. Bravo! Now just bring that bass up in the mix a teensy bit more. 😎
Wow, one of my favorite Led Zep songs, you guys did it beautifully. Rock and roll is in your blood.
Absolutely killing it. Love this!
Leaves are falling all around
It's time I was on my way
Thanks to you I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay
But now it's time for me to go
The autumn moon lights my way
now I smell the rain
And with it pain
And it's headed my way
Ramble on
And now's the time, the time is now
To sing my song
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl
On my way
I've been this way ten years to the day
Ramble on
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams
Got no time for spreadin' roots
The time has come to be gone
And thoough our health we drank a thousand times
It's time to ramble on
Ramble on
And now's the time, the time is now
To sing my song
I got to find my girl
On my way
I've been this way ten years to the day
I gotta ramble on
I gotta find the queen of all my dreams
I ain't tellin' no lie
Mine's a tale that can't be told
My freedom I hold dear
How years ago in days of old
When magic filled the air
'T was in the darkest depths of Mordor
I met a girl so fair
But Gollum, and the evil one
Crept up and slipped away with her
Her, her, yeah
Ain't nothing I can do, no
I guess I keep on rambling
Ramble on
And now's the time, the time is now
To sing my song
I got to find my girl
On my way
I've been this way ten years to the day
I gotta ramble on
I gotta find the queen of all my dreams
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, my baby
Doo, doo, doo, doo
Doodoo doodoo doodoo doodoo doodoo
I gotta keep searching for my baby
(Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby)
I gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby
(My, my, my, my, my, my, my baby)
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
I can't find my bluebird
I listen to my bluebird sing
I can't find my bluebird
I keep rambling, baby
I keep rambling, baby
So cool for us, doing this! I hope you don't mind me telling you that!
Wow, I'm 64 yrs old, I was there in the day, this is an incredible cover, I recently found you and enjoy everything IV listened too, you are so young and I'm happy you keep my era alive and aging like a fine wine, Thank you
Well said..am also an old fart and these girls do it all!
There is hope!

I guess she has quite a few of us Elders as fans 😁. ( I’m 58).
📻🙂
Love it! It's a treat to hear this Zeppelin-song this way.Well done!
Love everything about this!!! The compliation, the rendition -- even the colors in the background!!! Spot on perfect!!!!!!!
Of all the covers, Elle looks the most relaxed & groovy here. We listen to this often!
she looks pissed off actually
Simply delightful, both to watch and listen to.
Best cover I’ve ever heard of that classic. Thank you!
Great cover of a great classic song. What also made this so enjoyable was seeing how much fun you were having doing it
Ramble on !
I have listened to this like 10x on Patreon already because YOU GUYS! Wow! Jeff was at a car show and I texted him that he was gonna shit when he heard this. Location, dobro (Hi Shane!), Toni jammin’ bass, and Reina - your vocals were absolutely amazing!
That’s a nice take on the song, faithful to the original but with your own touch, well done.
By far, best cover I’ve ever heard on this song, great job
Never thought of Ramble On acoustic…Until now! So much fun and so well done!
Thanks Reina and Toni,, kinda miss Sunday Morning greeting with coffee cheers from you guys :D
Best regards from Jakarta - Indonesia
Really digging this version. I'm noodling around to the bass line. Pretty spectacular, as any JPJ cover should be.
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands covered by another favorite band. Love it ladies and gentlemen!! Awesome!!
Much better than I thought it would be. Not because you all are not talented musicians and singers--you re!--but because it's not really your type of song. But rambled this song on down to excellence!
VERY, VERY WELL DONE!!!!! I ENJOYED THIS!!! :-)
Reina, this is a great rendition of this song and it was perfect for your voice. Also, it's a bit of a tricky rhythm, especially when you have to sing at the same time. Personally, I am not sure I could play it and sing it at the same time, so great job. I actually like this much better than the original version. Toni is great as usual, as well as the guy on dobro.
I knew from the first bass note I was going to love this. Excellent, absolutely fabulous. Thanks for my smile this Sunday morning .
Well that rocked! Been listening to that song since the 70s. Excellent take!
Excellent arrangement surprisingly true to the original Led Zepplin!
A fantastic cover of a very difficult song to emulate.
It is so wonderful how you captured the essence of this song in such a different vibe. Well done!
I come back over and over again! This is crazy good!
Reina - I haven’t seen all your videos but have seen quite a few... don’t remember you playing Toni’s guitar before. It sounds great.
Btw - this seems like a really tough song to play rhythm and sing lead together. Nicely done!
Perfect, perfect vibe all around Reina! And Toni... you are totally ROCKIN that Base!!! Totally love that business owner too! How Cool!
You guys killed it !!
Rock it Reina !! Love your vocals.
This is one of your best ever, Toni’s so in love with music makes me feel happy too.
Happy troubadours! Keep singing and making music.
Excelente versión de un tema difícil de tocar
Felicitaciones
Excelent cover of a dificult song
Congratulations
The "best" covers create something new while maintaining the integrity of the original artist and song...nice job!
I play several instruments, I have a good ear for music through those skills. Whenever I hear great music I get goose bumps on my arms. This is a total body goose bump viewing!
I love what ya’ll are doin’.
This is so good. I mean, of course Led Zeppelin is magic, but not only wearing out my vinyl, but wearing out literally three other media formats in these 50 years, it's like a breath of fresh air to hear literally the first good cover of it.
Thank you so much.
This is my new favorite cover. Love your stuff!!!
love you girls to pieces!!! been a fan now for over two years. discovered you on you tube & been rockin with you ever since. oh & hats off to all the others that help you put your music out there! keep uo the great work & ill be waiting for next sundays tune.
