About Reina del Cid:
Reina del Cid is a singer songwriter and leader of the eponymous folk rock band based in Minnesota. Her song-a-week video series, Sunday Mornings with Reina del Cid, has amassed a devoted and diverse following made up of everyone from jamheads to college students to white-haired intelligentsia. In 2011 she began collaborating with Toni Lindgren, who is the lead guitarist on all three of Del Cid’s albums, as well as a frequent and much beloved guest on the Sunday Morning videos. The Sunday Morning videos also feature a rotating cast of bandmates, special guests, and occasional random bystanders. Their album Morse Code came out on October 4, 2019.
I love seeing female musicians KILL IT!!! They offer something us males just can't duplicate.
I think you guys would get millions of hits if Toni did a tutorial on the how to do the lead for this song on acoustic. There's tonnes of tutorials for electric, but you have to bend the strings way beyond what most could pull off on an acoustic.
Absolutely spectacular
Holy Campfire Music, Batman! I wonder how many forgotten burned-off marshmallows would be lost if those two were playing around our campfire?!! I don't think S'Mores would ever forgive us for letting those two have guitars while marshmallows were being poked onto sticks. WOW "Do you smell something burning?" Yeah... those guitar-fingers!
Hard to believe an acoustic cover of "Just What I Needed" could be so good. Ric Ocasek, RIP.
best acoustic version we have heard---kudo's !!
Toni is so good, you don’t notice JUST how good she is. And I LOVE Reina’s voice.
Just chiming in and echoing so many other comments. What a cool duo they are - amazing strengths that each has!
Reina and Toni - just what we needed.
The girl on the left is one helluva guitar player. Very formidable cover with an acoustic twist. Thanks ladies
Just a BIG WOW WOW for U both great song and U both playing your guitars.........Graeme
Toni’s playing is flawless - as usual.
Theses two young ladies are fantastic musicians whose talents are equally amazing, their eclectic music is what makes them shine.
Fantastic show tonight at the Rainbow Bistro in Ottawa. So glad you included this in your set!
OMG they actually open their eyes and engage their audience instead of closing them all the way through. How refreshing!
Glad you tow are back.
Reina and Toni just keep getting better. Rest in peace Ric Ocasek
Jerry Brownell indeed RIP Ric Ocasek but there was another founding member of the Cars that passed away many years before Ric. Benjamin Orr the bassist wrote and sang this song.
Yes, and rest in peace Benjamin Orr who sang this song.
@@flukyreview9128 Ric Ocasek wrote the song-he was the primary songwriter for the Cars, but Ben Orr could sing the phone book and a crowd would gather. RIP Ric & Benjamin
That was just what I need. Thank you 🙂
That Toni lady will light up any song with her skillful playing! I just love watching her play! Outstanding!
Yes! She has her own RUclips channel.
Toni always looks like she’s having a blast.
Yup. Toni just keeps getting better and better -- in her particular case, she keeps on redefining perfection. Funny thing is, I never really liked this song... until.... NOW!
Great version. Love it. Awesome. Look forward to more.
The acoustic tones of power chords sounds so amazing, not to mention the overall performance, one of the best covers on you tube
I Love The Cars. So Beautiful. Thank so much!
Excellent.
Toni's guitar work here is so inspiring
Just what I needed on a Sunday morning. Thanks.
That smile that comes across Toni's face when the song starts kicking in was awesome. Really nice rendition of a classic
i agree totally just what i needed 😀
Oh, that bewitching neck twirl at 1.10 .... Toni is beyond words
what a fine tribute to my Ohio natives, Ric Ocasek & Benjamin Orr!!! if someone asked me who my top 5 bands are ,i wold say (in no particular order)" stones, zeppelin, beatles, van morrison,&reina del cid! you gals are in some good company in my ears!!great originals & great covers!! wish you would stop near cleveland, OH THIS FALL TOUR!?!?
Toni is a killer on the guitar, just AWESOME
The synth melody line totally works on the acoustic guitar!!!
Reina: Your voice is custom made for that “close to the mic, no reverb” sound. Toni: Once again you brought the fire! 🔥
Really nice job both of you!
Very nice. A pleasure to watch on my lazy Saturday morning.
I work by myself in a windowless hallway alcove. People walk by my desk all day and wave hello. Today i also got a few funny looks because I’ve been listening to Sunday mornings all day and singing along with my earbuds in.
SO FEW people play the descending inversion on the pre-chorus properly- best bit of the song! Great cover :)
This song brings back great memories ... when I was 15 years old ... then I was studying like a beast devouring countless books to enter the most prestigious university in my country ... I listened to this music loudly on my radio ... AND I danced it on Saturdays at nightclubs ... I never thought that my destiny was to travel all over my country knowing my roots: 32 pre-Inca cultures, synthesized in the dazzling pre-Inca culture. Greetings from Peru.
perfect Playing. I was 19 years old as I listen the first time this song. You grabbed the right feeling and understand - 45 years later. Amazing
best cover of that song ever.. very good.
Sunday Mornings... definitely one of my favourite corners on the internet. Just brilliant.
Glad , the younger generation enjoying real Rock N Roll 70s and 80s . My favorite part of Rock.
My grandkids told me about these two . They are undeniably great . Toni is a freaking rock star ! She could definitely be in my hand . She makes me want to unretire .
Holy crap Toni, you pulled that solo straight out of 1978
Ha!
Truman Sharp She's a very good guitarist for sure. Yes, she pulled that solo straight out of 78!
You did Ellliot Easton very proud on those solos! Wonderful playing, both of you.
and on an acoustic guitar too
They are my go to, to get into a great attitude before heading into work.
Toni’s vocals really stood out on this one 👍 soooo smooth 👍
You two are awsome and you have brittend my sunday thank you
Two things I learned about this summer: the two of you and that my wife of 36 years has breast cancer. I am thankful that I have had your music as a positive offset to a very difficult time. I can't watch your "Harvest Moon" cover with dry eyes - I hope you will play it for us in Harrisonburg on November 20 and I hope that my wife is able to attend. She purchased the tickets for my birthday but the show will be two days after her first chemo. Keep up the good work - you are both amazing human beings! Don't forget that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Hey best wishes. I hope your wife and you will triumph.
I will keep you and your wife in my prayers.
Love her with all your heart🙏🏼
Lifting up prayers for you and your wife. So sorry this has happened to you two Ben. Love and prayers from Arkansas.
🥺
In this crazy world we living in right now, this was just what I needed.
Agreed. Listening to this brought back memories of high school, and I was grateful to enjoy a bit of nostalgia in these very disturbing times. (Don’t get me wrong, high school certainly had its share of challenges for me, but still seems like easier times, looking back from now.)
That was so beautiful, I had to watch it twice.
That song is just as cool as those playing and singing it here!!! I grew up with The Cars in the 70s. VERY VERY COOL Reina and Toni!!!
I remember first time I heard this in 78! Well done!!!!
Reina and Toni are so good together. They play like a well oiled machine.Love their vocals as well
Sunday funday just got better.great job!
Absolutely not what I expected....and loved every minute of it....just what I needed....well done!
You smoked it ladies!! Man I love you two! Rock on!
Just what we all needed
And it wasn't cheesy at all, at all...
Steven Lykowski Maybe a little...the right amount of cheese I would say
@@abesapien9930 it's a tad bit too cheesy... A Gouda kind of cheese
Cheesus is just alright with me.
If I told you what I needed and why, you’d be wrong in calling me delusional like all the other’s, I really need to Meet and talk to My Biological Daughter Jewel from Alaska originally yes Jewel Kilcher is My Biological Daughter and her songs Foolish Games and Enter from the East are about Me !!!!!
Nice way to start the week! Thanks. Love it! ❤️
Je vous trouve extra, car vous vous complétez à merveille ! Reina au chant, guitare 1, et Toni, Guitare 2, qui excelle dans ces petits soli intermédiaires, c' est super ! Félicitations de France...
That Reina and Toni are awesome. Congratulations from France.🕊🌻♥️🌻🕊
Best,Perfect constructed guitar solo.. ever!
Y'all have a rare talent for staying true to the covers songs but still putting your own wonderful marks on them.
Beautifully gentle, yet with an undertone of subtle passion.
Loved it!
Made my Sunday morning 🥰!
RIP Mr. Ocasek 😔.
You guys crushed that.
Nice! I clicked because I didn't think it could sound good in acoustic form, but you have blown me away...very cool.
Fab. Great arrangement.
I love how Reina and Toni take overproduced hits from the '70s and find their simple essence by playing them on acoustic instruments.
The essence of synth-pop was in it's over-production.
Overproduced...enough to make millions and millions of dollars.
The original is clearly better.
Thanks, you guys are great. Great early morning wake up.
What a cool take on a Cars classic.... Great musicianship all around. Great Job!!
Nice phrasing of the lyrics! Thanks for taking me to a happier place. Clean chords~
This is perfection! Toni and Reina! It just doesn’t get any better than these two!
Great job. Awesome job Toni. Sound so good.
I love how you two make me hear the words of songs I thought I already knew.
Shoot. Just made me smile instantly 👍 Thank you

These ladies are singing a song from a great album!
Yo she fucking nailed that solo. Love this cover guys.
God this is one of my favorite songs ever, so simple and yet eloquent... and oh this is so what I needed :) thank you guys for all the beautiful music
We Cars fans enjoyed this excellent acoustic version of a great song. Thanks.
You both are a treat to watch and listen to. You're young and have fun, seems like you two don't take yourselfs too serious but obviously you both have enormous talent. There dosent seem too be egos involved and its just so cool too watch you guys bring your talent for us to see and feel. I'm astonished at how it seems so simple but it really takes great talent and respect for each other.
This was GREAT!
Wow great choice of song. Love it.
Nice job on the solo Toni !
