We met him about 10 yrs ago in Valencia at Wood Ranch restaurant. My wife was sitting next to him at the bar f(his wife next to him) and I didn't tell her who he was. He talked to her while we were all watching a ballgame on tv. He was nice to her and I was thrilled to be seeing him in person. One of the biggest baseball stars on earth. Driving home I told my wife who he was and she was so surprised. lol He should be in the hall of fame absolutely. That committee sucks. We will always remember that night. Thank you Pete Rose.

It shouldn’t have never been a lifetime ban. He was a HOF player without a doubt. Can’t have the all time hits leader out of the HOF. And when comes to steroids it shouldn’t prevent you from HOF status. In the NFL, NBA, you get suspended 2-4 times before they actually kick you out of the league. Those leagues aren’t going to destroy the legacy of their all time greats that make them money 💰. Sweep it under the rug and keep it moving

This is one of the few times I agree with Rob Parker on anything. Rose should have gotten it right. He should have come clean and apologized. Would Bart Giomatti have handed down a lifetime ban?? I Don't know, but I think that Giamotti would have handed down a punishment where, along with the apology, Rose would be still be hall of fame eligible and he would have been in the Hall a long time ago. HE was said to have had encyclopedic knowledge of the game, so he must have known about the White Sox Scandal and how then Commissioner Landis gave the 8 Sox players, including legend Joe Jackson, lifetime bans for betting on baseball, even though they were acquitted in the trial.

I think that Pete Rose should have been inducted into the Hall of Fame based on his accomplishments as a player. If I recall, Pete betted on the games as a manager, not as a player. So I think the two should have been separated. I agree Pete should have been penalized for betting but not a lifetime ban from the Hall of Fame. His accomplishments as player far outweighed his wrongdoing as a manager. That's my take.

  • @DannyDornail

At first I thought Rose was being screwed for being declared ineligible for the HOF, but after things came to light like him being involved with underworld people and using his position as a manager to learn from other managers about who would be playing or not ahead of time that other people gambling on games would not be privy to, I changed my mind. Great player, but he f-ed up. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
