My father owns a D6-9U I believe it is a 1955. It looks identical to this one. It was the first dozer he ran for a large timber company in New Hampshire building logging roads. 35 years after he ran it he came across it sitting on a flatbed at a gravel pit 75 miles from where she started out. After tracking down the owner he found out she was loaded up for her last ride to the scrap yard. They sold it to my father for scrap price and now it’s sitting in a garage in the process of getting fixed up.
Probably needs some work and an undercarriage, but she’s pretty dang clean and straight for being 60 years old give or take. Seen new stuff that doesn’t look that good.
How many of us miss the old bench seats? I never saw a cat skinner that was not seated sideways (myself included although I would never call myself a real cat skinner,) so they could see to back up easier. Humbug on "progress." 😉 And a hula blade to boot!
had to take a double take, the extra plates on the blade look almost exactly like the one I sold recently... it was fun to drive buy hell to get started and too big for what I need.
From the left, if memory serves... winch direction, winch clutch/brake, tractor clutch(cams over DO NOT FEATHER IT) left track clutch, right track clutch throttle (forward on dash), tractor direction front=reverse back=forward? (drugs?), Tractor speed ( too fast, and faster) and the final one on the far right blade control Made a video I think about it? for the d6,8u anyway, the 9u has a regular shifter in between the track clutches.

Holy cow my Bud would give me KaKa if I left the track frame dirty and dint shovel it out.
Wasted pads but running, I'd take it!!!
Only D6 I ever ran was one of the high horse power ones.
Thank you Skadill!!
My dad ran the d8 version of that machine in the late 50s clearing the hydro right of way between Qualicum and Comox Valley.
Built to put in a full life’s work then come right back for more.
Nice machine
Definitely something ua going guys couldn't run
Hey I'm a research assistant working on a project about forestry films. Please shoot me an email when you see this. Email is in my bio.
Where is that located? Do you know where i can get a carb for the pup?
I got the.same vintage 6 given to me
This thing is old , I never seen a d6 like that .
That's a nice 9U. Nice looking Cat for a BC Cat. Our 9U doesn't have a dozer.

More levers and pedals the better i say! I guess thats why i like owning the old cable operated machines
They didn't even clean out the undercarriage before they parked it that's a bummer
Definitely enough levers for everybody!
It is like watching a well choreographed dance to see a good operator use all those levers.
I learned to operate on my dad's '52 D6 9U, that tractor is still a part of my life.
That old dozer looks to be in good shape for the age. Thanks for the video.
Grousers are worn down on those pads witch shows it did a lot of work in its day .
She's definitely stout! Workhorse for sure
I'd love to have it.
The hood arrangement on that D6 9U looks like it's been lengthened. The engine side curtains also look strange.
It does seem to have a long over hang.
Nice!
I would love an explanation of what each lever is for but that might take a novel!
