    Thanks!
    You saved me the embarrassment of throwing a fit to the store owner for selling me a bad caddy or wasting money on another one.
    If only a friend knew this as well some years ago.
    Good health to you sir.

    That is the explanation why my laptop always had a core working at 90%

    My laptop was not shutting down properly via Windows when I replaced my HDD with an SSD (put my HDD in the optical drive with a caddy afterwards) . I tried literally everything; commands, settings, you name it. Then I stumbled across your video and found out this issue was happening because of a tiny hidden switch in the caddy. Thanks man, appreciate it!

      EXACTLY the same issue as I had! I struggled with this for AGES last year, and I am no newcomer to hardcore IT, but this solved it! GOD bless you!

    Thanks a lot man. I have installed os in my new ssd and kept old hdd in optical drive. But laptop was not detecting hdd. When i exchanged the postions both drives were visible. Tried almost everything to get my hdd detected in optical drive. Finally watched your video and moved that tiny switch. Now hdd is visible is disk management. Thanks a lot dude.

    Thanks man! I had recently replaced my existing HDD with a SSD and placed the HDD on a caddy in place of my DVD drive. I didn't have this high CPU usage problem until about a day ago. I don't know what triggered it. But I started getting 15 to 30% CPU usage even on idle. I used Process Explorer to find out the culprit. I saw 'Hardware Interrupts and DPCS' using my CPU. So I thought it must be my SSD or HDD hardware causing the problem. Idk how it fixed this but I toggled the hidden switch to the right. It was already on the left. Now, my idle CPU usage is around 2%.
    IMO, that switch tells the CPU that the DVD drive exists and thus CPU keeps sending interrupt signal. But since we have replaced it with HDD, it wont acknowledge this interrupt. Thus, CPU's cycles are wasted and CPU keeps trying and thus causes high usage even on idle. By flipping the switch, maybe we let the CPU know that our DVD drive doesn't exist now.

      Now I know why my cpu usage is high when idle. System interrupts! Your comment helped me. THANK YOU!

    Does this solve the problem that the BIOS does not identify the Cady as a storage disk but rather an ODD?
    I can't boot my Windows because of this

  • @adams.george
    @adams.george Год назад +1

    For those still having the issue, pls try updating your BIOS firmware. Mine worked after the update. In Lenovo, this can be done by Lenovo's "System Update" program. For some reason, the HDD took a few minutes after I logged in to Windows to get recognized.

    Hello Sir, I don't know if you know about how to solve the below issue but still If you know how to solve it please let me know...
    I have a laptop hard disk which I had removed due to crashing issues. I have important data in that hard disk so I had purchased an external hardisk reader. I connected it to my Laptop and it shows it is a dynamic disk so the laptop cannot read it. I want to get all the flies from that hard disk.... Can you help me if you know any other way to make it readable without formatting it.
    I was thinking if I can purchase a caddy and put the hard disk into it and check if it can be readable.... Will it work??? Please let me know if you got any idea regarding it.

I already replace for three others Caddy Drives but still not work normally. But, anyway I put again DVD-RW Drive surely it read in BIOS as usual.
