Great video, I recently bought this engine and it was running rough/missing, upon inspection the lower carb is missing the float, float pin and INLET needle. Guy claims it ran great last 2 years and he never touched the carbs.
Great video my boat has dual 120s I started them after being parked for 4 months and one of the 120s is running at 2500RPM. I tried the Idle screw but didn't do anything. I have to redo timing because I messed with the timing screw. What do you thing can cause the RPM to be so high at idle? And why didn't it go down with the screw adjustment? Thanks in advance
Thanks. I have replied to the other video you commented. You may want to check your main jet if it is too rich and also make sure the throttle close properly. You can compare it with the one one. Good luck, Bro.
Actually on of the carb plates was not in sync with the other and it remained opened too much. I adjusted it to be parallel to the ground level. It was pushed up. I did the timing at 32 like yours. My force engines are 1990 and the book is from 92 but I think it's similar. Some people adjust the timimg at 28 for these engines, any idea why? Also is to adjust idle out of the water at what number should it be. In tye qater is at 750 right? I have to do that and readjust the mixture too.
@@getitdone6694 The manual says 32 degree, but you can advancing a bit. 28 seems to be still okay. It may increase horse power a bit, but may increase engine heat. Don't do it too far from TDC, because over heating, detonation, or even backfiring may happened. Adjusting the idle out of the water will increase rpm, I did it on 750. It seems okay when the boat start on the water. You can adjust it later if you found out it is too high.
@@NorCalOutdoor Actually the manual says 32 on the thunderbolt on the Prestolite it is 28 for 90 and 91. I was confused on that until I saw the writing on the wall.
I have a motor just like it. I rebuilt my carbs a month ago because fuel was dumping out of the front of both of the carbs ..now they stopped dripping out of front of the carburetors top is perfect but .the lower one is leaking out of the side of the carburetor out of a little hole on the side of carburetor side with starter ..have you ever seen that happen?
@@SuperKimtuan it should be normal. I was worry for the first time when I have this engine, but oil may get there when I tilt it up. Since we have 2 stroke engine, oil will stay, but gasoline vaporizes. Im sure you can rebuild it yourself.
@@NorCalOutdoor sorry I ask a lot questions, my carb cover before it green liquid color now it brown I don’t know my carb getting dirty. What color liquid is your carb cover liquid?Thankyou
@@SuperKimtuan that's fine. Mine was green/blue. I think it depends on what oil you use. You may want to check your fuel lines. The gray line has plastic inside. When it is getting bad, it changes the color to brown. Did you see like plastic debris on your fuel filter?
Do a video where you rebuild these carbs as your title says. That would be awesome.
Will do it next time

Thanks. I don't think the engine would run without it
@@NorCalOutdoor it was running and idling fine but die in gear and miss with hi throttle.
@@MokeANig I thought it would be too rich to run.
I saw you show the main jet but where is the low jet? Thanks
Good question. The idle air jet is on the top of carburetor. You will need to take plastic sealing screw off to get to the jet
The video is awesome...i have gas that shoots from the side on the top carberator when i start it....dobu no why that is..??

Can you get to the main jet with the carbs on?

The fuel shouldn't go up to that hole. You will need to adjust the float
