Hey Brian, I just wanted to comment and apologize for my younger self. A few years ago I found your videos and for some reason hated your covers and really looking back on it, it was just my jealousy of how well you can play. I had just started playing saxophone and for some reason had a big head about me and commented some not nice things. But now that I am 4 years older and actually have a clue about playing and the work it takes to get better, I would like to compliment your playing. You're very talented and I still truly envy your ability on the saxophone. Keep making great videos!

What is the honest difference between a 1500$ tenor like the allora Chicago jazz & a 8500$ sax like the selmer 54 reference? Like besides the way it looks or may feel when holding. Like when u play a sax, a sax is a sax. U determine how easy it is to play when u blow right? There's only so much the sax itself could pick up with less effort. Like yeah a 8500$sax is easier to play than a 1500$ sax but not by much right? Cuz I played on a student rent sax one day & then tried out my sax which is the allora Chicago jazz sax & it wasn't much of a difference. Just a bit easier for the air to make a noise & I was able to do the vibrato & growl a bit easier but not much. Like how much easier & nicer could a 8500$ sax be compared to a 1500$ sax?

you can never truly emulate someones sound. There is a lot of editing that goes into his videos and the recordings a la reverb and other recording techniques. I am in no way at all trying to lessen Brian because he is a great player but he does have to do editing to make the songs sound more true to the originals.
+Johnathan Thompson Definitely I agree it can't be exact, but similar indeed. Saxophone, mouthpiece and reed can make quite a difference! I've experimented before, but still haven't found the sound I want. Brian is definitely a good player. From the look of it I think he might be using a Dukoff mouthpiece.
