  • VladTV regular Lord Jamar made it clear that he's not a fan of mumble rappers and tells DJ Vlad he thinks that new Black artists are being out-rapped by underground White rappers today. He says, "These motherf***ers is still doing the real hip hop at a high f**king level and [they] got their sales and all that type of s*** because you got a certain amount of white people that f*** with strictly these white emcees."
Check out how Lord Jamar uses the internet to reintroduce himself to a newer audience and why that's the only comparison he has with Lil Yachty.
    Watch the full interview above.

Some rappers who mumble are good (isaiah Rashad, Bone Thugs), some don't mumble (Yachty, 21 Savage) and some are just straight up and down shit.

Depends on what you consider an underground rapper. For instance the only guys I put in this category were rapping from late 90's to 2008. If you consider Logic, Kendrick and Ab Soul undeground, then no.

The thing I hate about white underground rappers is , they swear they are the next Eminem. The rap fast , are lyrical but they think that is what makes a good artist ... A lot of them are trash and think highly of themselves thinking "how am I not the biggest artist in the game?" Stop trying to be the next Eminem he already did it and we heard it so try something else

You're way the fuck off on many of the white underground rappers. Most of them don't give a fuck about bein Em. El-P is one of the hottest in the game with his production and lyricism along with Killer Mike on Run the Jewels! Logic is ridiculous and is not hanging on Em's coattails at all. Vinnie Paz is a beast and is totally void of any Eminem attributes. Now maybe in the sense of his respect and iconic status in the game, but not his style. But all music artists want to be on the level of Em, blacks included. Many black rappers want to be Em also, but can't touch him on talent and respect! He's one of the best to do it, which is backed by any and every influential rapper in the game with cats like Scarface, Nas, Jay, Drake, Kool G Rap, J Cole, Kendrick, Rakim, Slick Rick, Fat Joe, Inspektah Deck, Common, Talib, Paz, Outkast, Royce, Dre, 50 cent, Budden, Jadakiss, Chuck D, and so on and so on... The list is endless of Mc's stating that Em is top 5 of all time, FACTS!

@Lincoln Orcutt "Only"? This meme is used on dumb songs that try to sound smart. The whole jab Frank did was directed as mixtape/soundcloud "rappers" that all say the same shit and try to run before they can stand as far as knowledge of (at least) classic albums, thus they feel they are doing something unique.
      How does it apply here?

And how many in THIS CONVO here ACTUALLY RAP AND MAKE SONGS? Lord Jamar OG been in the industry a long time highly respected, he’s qualified, I too in fact am, lol but people who DONT PRACTICE THE ART AND ARE NOT ARTISTS THEMSELVES? .....eh not so much. Just saying they don’t know the entire process. I agree w Lord Jamar for obvious reasons but those are not the ONLY reasons. I myself do NOT LIKE THIS Post-millennial style garbage they try to call music and DARE TO CALL RAP. Everyone is different and many styles of rap but that mumble shit is horrible. Im 45 and have been listening to gangsta rap (Spice 1, New Breed Of Hustlas, Cmw, MC Eiht, True Blue, Killafornia Organization, 11/5, Ant Banks, MC Breed (RIP) , DFC, etc ) since I was 12 years old, I lived the 90s...THE ABSOLUTE BEST YEARS FOR RAP, It’s REALLY NOT ABOUT what color , sex or religion you are as a rapper....that’s image...It is about raw and developed talent, vocabulary, vocal inflection and delivery skills, critical listening, tone of voice techniques, understanding song structure (you need verses not just a fuckin chorus), a respect for the origins of this music and black culture, a firm grasp upon the attitude of what hip hop and rap represent and what it does not, not just loving only the mainstream top 40 because that’s a watered down radio/child -friendly version of the real expression in which the artist had been censored, the emotion you hear, how it makes you feel, soothes your soul and you identify with it, and all YES THE ABILITY TO RAP WITHOUT AUTOTUNE.

See, the problem isn't that mumble rap is a thing. There's a time and place for everything. Even if I have zero time for that (what I consider to be) nonsense. The problem is that it's approximately 75% of what you hear on the fuckin radio. Out of the entire spectrum of hip hop, from the lyrical artists to the poppy one hit wonder anthem artists, THESE are the motherfuckers that get the most radio play? There is absolutely no reason why every time I muster up the will to turn on the radio that I have to hear this fuckin shit. EVERY. TIME.
It's insulting. It's insulting to every one that's ever picked up a mic and got busy, to every one that's ever appreciated the hard work that goes into crafting a complex, thought provoking rhyme, to every one who legitimately has an appreciation for the culture as a whole.
There's no reason why mumble rap, lyrical rap and party anthems can't co-exist on one mainstream radio station. This is what happens when money rules all and the world is seen as black and white to the majority I guess...

Jamar goes hard on mumble rappers because he realizes it is corroding hip-hop and influencing younger people in a negative way, rather than a positive one.

Not only that, but the lyrical content is so satisfying. Talking about politics, Conspiracy theorys, addiction, & a bunch of other interesting shit. They also use all the dopest produces from the past like Pete Rock, Premier, Large Professor... It's basically what Jamar is describing, classic hip-hop taken up to a higher level.

You are indeed a blessing, Uncle. You truly are. I get so tired of entertainers being politically correct. We share the same thoughts slash feelings about music, specifically hip hop slash rap (or what's left of it). Now, I can't front and pretend like I know yo' whole catalog w/ Brand Nubian simply because I was into other artists in the 90's, but now that time has passed, I've gone back and revisited some of y'all old records. _Slow Down_ and _Punks Jump up to Get Beat Down_ are two that I've always known about and loved, but the other songs I had to go back and revisit. I'm currently in love w/ _Don't Let it Go to Your Head_. I feel like I know that song and have heard it during the time, but it's so fuzzy. Anyway, I love the movement you've created, Unc. I wanna see you win and go above & beyond this year. I don't see an OG artist "hating" on these kids. I see a man w/ an opinion who's passionate about the culture speaking up and not being hella scary. Nas tried it 10 years ago and you saw what happened to him. He couldn't take the heat and ended up retracting slash lying about his statements.

This very true that white-boy rap is out, wasn't a fan. But now the issue is they ALL have the exact same rap style. There was a day when rappers had there own style and you was just a whack bitter if you used someone else rap flow. Now it's bite, bite, bite. Then they want to say they are the best? You don't even have your own style, clown @ss rappers. If you clap your hands to the rap styles you will notice you clap the same patterns for every song.
