I am really getting into this project. I like the way you worked around the cut down fork covers, nice solution. Why anybody would do what a previous owner did to that front end by cutting those covers, because they got their hands on a wind screen with XVS 650 Custom brackets is just a puzzlement. It would have cost a lot of coin to replace those covers, around $138 USD & $141 USD respectively. My Classic came with the proper mounts & windscreen and saddle bags. I took them off too. Just looks better without them. Great project, glad you did this one!
Looking good there! I just had to laugh, you pushed the fork through the triple tree the same way that I did :) I took the shrouds off as well and I be putting some gaiters on as well - which will be fun on an upside down fork - but heck I need to replace the fork seals anyway :)
This was an awesome idea! The bike looks so much better, going to look into doing this on mine. Just a heads up, you need to change the speedo hub in the wheel, they have different gear ratios :)
Thanks mate! Appreciate the kind words, when the weather calms down a bit ill take it out with gps and see what the error is and see if i can live with it or will try and source a custom speedo drive!
@@iRidetas I think David may have a point here as the circumference of the larger wheel means more distance covered per rotation I think the drive would need a certain ratio to reflect that.
I want to do this. What wheel do I need to look for? a Classic 1100? I dont believe that Yamaha made a 19" front wheel for the custom did they? Ive seen 18's
Do you happen to have a link to the specfic gaiters you used? I'm gonna order some to do this exact swap for. I'll be doing the 19" front as well next season when I get my new white walls.
What a difference a day makes. Looks a lot better 🤘🏼👍🏼
Thanks mate, i was really happy with how much i got done! I think it loks great!
Following your build with interest , looking forward to more . 19 inch is looking great
Cheers mate, lots more planned!
@@iRidetas can you send me a link to where you bought the gaiters from I can’t seem to find them.
Ebay
Ya that 19 on front looks awesome!... dude, you are one brave, smart (or crazy) fella doing all this yourself! Great job!! 👏
Lol prob crazy!!! Thanks my friend, i was so happy with how it came out!

Thanks mate, I really enjoyed working on this bike!
Sweet. Like it . Really amazed how different it looks with just changing the size of a wheel. Looking forward to seeing what you do next :) Stay well.
Thanks Simone, it makes a huge difference, i was really please with how it looks 😀
Front wheel makes it look so much better,
Absolutely mate, not a fan of the chunky 16 inch wheel!
Dizzy looks great, great video
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed 😀👍
Great job, mate. I'm definitely stealing this mod for my XV project.
Cool! Spacers etc. Might be different on a xv as opposed to an xvs!
that 19 inch looks awesome its just little things like that, that make a big differance
Cheers mate

Haha 20 plus years of schmutz they needed a tap or two!!! Ahhh fork seals, thats a gun job...enjoy! 😀😀
Always thought the bike looked way too level stock. New wheel size is badass mate 👍
Thanks mate! Im pretty stoked with it myself! 😀👍
Thanks for the vids mate legend
No worries hope you enjoy
Looks way better with the 19" front 👍
Also, a bit of feedback: The music on the intro/outro is way too loud compared to the rest of the video.
Thanks mate! 👍
The wheel & gaiters minus the shrouds are a good look 👌 Just got mine done recently, so i like the look m8.
Stay safe : )
Yeah mate i love the look too! Duits s bobber for sure!

I think you may need the speedo drive from the custom to make you speedo accurate. Looking good
Ill look into it, was pretty sure they were the same but will check

Il take it for a ride when it stops snowing with gps to see where im at. Thanks gents
Ya that looks way better with a 19 front tire.
Thanks mate I agree 😀👍
The front end is looking alot leaner but are you planning to swap the headlight for a 6" ? Keep up the good work and vids 🙂
Thanks mate, im in the process of researching that at the mo!
Short answer after research is yes 😀👍
Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing the result 👍
Thanks again Peter, i look forward to making the video!
Small question for you. Will the guard fit over the 19? And have you ridden it yet??
Yes it will, yes i have
@@iRidetas thanks for the answer. I love the look. Been told tge guard won't fit. Does it ride well with the thinner tyre?
I really like it. I prefer a skinny front tyre. There is plenty of meat under the guard bolt holes you could ream them out and elongate them too.
@@iRidetas thanks alot for the ideas.
Where did you buy the gaiters? :)
Ebay!

Xvs650 19 inch custom used
Thx
