@ amazing thank you! Just got roms working on basic mame stuff and overcome a few hurdles with sound output etc. Will look at your next video now. Could not have got this far without your guidance.
Followed your video to a T (Very good descriptions), and after the reboot, it goes back to the Login Prompt like before the Retro install. I know it's there because if I try to do it again, it says it's not an empty directory. Any help would be great.
Hey sorry type: cd RetroPie-Setup sudo ./retropie_setup.sh And go into configuration tools >auto start > start emulation station at boot It's in the video at 12:15 but right before that I made it sound like we were done. I think I'm gonna fix that and re upload
Because it's being setup to boot directly into RetroPie there's no need to install all the extra's that come with full. You can install full if you'd like, it'll work the same and should have no effect on performance.
I just started testing for that on the Pi 5 but I have a done a full comparison on the Pi 4. you can find that video here. ruclips.net/video/IS9tPJ1RF2o/видео.html
i have my raspberry plugged into my tv and i think it has low resolution, after retropie is installed and when it first boots up i get an all black screen with a flickering _
@@KnappPrimeTime the OS I picked was Lakka cause it's interface looks just like the PSP/PS3 but I made this video because lots of people prefer RetroPie
how do we transfer the games over, would be helpful
Use something like Filezilla or CyberDuck to SFTP across to the roms folder under retropie
Thank you very much for this guide!
You're very welcome!
This was an excellent guide, thank you. Very useful
You're very welcome! Be sure to check out my AetherSX2 video if you want to run PS2 games on it!

my basic install screen appears to be frozen with a bunch of CC SDL_[something here].lo things on it. help?
I would start over the only times I've seen this happen is when either the flashing screwed up or when I had a bad SD card
Why the OS light and not the full?

Thank you for the video, I have a pi 5 arriving this week.
Have you compared performance between retro pie & batocera?

@@MakeOrBreakSociety Awesome thanks, I'll keep an eye out then

@@blackhole35 if it's flickering is likely a bad refresh rate. See if you can force your tv to 1920x1080 60hz
Mine failed to provide an IP adress, seems to not want to connect to the network. Is there a work around for this?
If you can get it plugged in via ethernet then finish the walkthrough and once your in RetroPie you can wifi connect using the menus
@@MakeOrBreakSociety I got it working, had to flash the SSD again and be careful when entering the SSID, It works now, thanks!
Why did you pick the OS that you picked?

at what part during the install?
Where do you open up putty? On the pi 5 or on the computer you use to download the OS on?
Sorry yes I should have said that in the video. Open up putty on your computer not the pi 5
Thanks! I just realized I needed to download putty first, lol!
Sorry about that! I'll edit the description and add a pined comment explaining that!
Thanks!
What emulator do you use for ps2 (god of war)
That was chains of Olympus for the PSP. However PCSX2 has an experimental build for retropie
Didn’t work on my raspberry
what pi are you using and are you getting any errors?
@@MakeOrBreakSociety the latest pi5, but it seems to have been a complete disaster. Had to re-write the os on the raspberry
@@chrisgibson1592 well if you go through it again let me know what's happening and i'll do my best to help you through it
Ok, new to all this but am I been a bit thick here, how do you play the games…there is none
you have to turn on Samba shares and then transfer using your computer. If you check out my getting PS2 games working video I walk through the steps
