There's a hard limit of 128TB in the SDUC spec and there's no reason to believe that the RPi5 wouldn't support it. Right now in 2023, the largest microSD card is a 1.5TB card made by SanDisk and Micron. Kioxia made a 2TB prototype last year, but hasn't released it to market.
@@mancampovestiminvatam The USB Sata adapter you're using is probably drawing too much power. The Pi 4 only provides 600 ma total USB power. To make an SSD reliable, you can either use a powered hub, or use a SATA adapter that's specifically tested with the Raspberry Pi, like an Argon or a NES Pi 4 case. The Raspberry Pi 5 with the official 27W adapter will provide 1600 ma (8 W) per USB port, so it shouldn't have that problem at all.

I won't buy any Rpi5 until it supports booting from both USB and Ethernet. I don't think these features would be available soon, because Rpi5 uses their new chip (SouthBridge) for USB/Ethernet.
PCs have had Southbridge chips for years - all of the modern one can boot from USB or Ethernet. I don't know why you think the RPi would be any different.
@@terrydaktyllus1320 Even in RPi4, it took several months to support booting from USB/Ethernet. On Rpi5, Southbridge (RP1) is connected to CPU (BCM2712, AP) through PCIE that is never used on RPi boards before, so they have to spent some effort to make boot ROM of BCM2712 to support PCIE at first. Thereafter, the protocol between RPi and BCM2712 for booting have to be implemented. This absolutely requires some effort.
@@bearlin6136 I didn't ask for a lecture from you. I was simply pointing out that the job of Southbridge is to allow booting from USB and Ethernet. If it requires later firmware to do it then so be it - I am not as impatient as you.

worst WIFI, gives around 10 MB on a 150 MB fiber internet line.. and the blame is for the router and channel. Never had issues with Pi 4 on same router... and the active coller comes with a blocked Pin hole which bends the pin on the socket, will take a few hours to straighten the pin and open the hole in the plug..
Accurate assessment, though reserved to some measure. I assembled a Pi 5 (8Gbyte version) with NVME top hat and 2280 drive and did the flashing for boot sequence, editing config files, etc. Installed the Raspberry Pi full OS. Yeah, it's fast! However, Wifi true throughput is around 4Mbits. Shouldn't have added it to Pi 5 in my opinion. Worthless. The LAN is, however, fast! Reboot and on/off switch don't work. In summary, it needs a lot of work! Not reliable and not consistent.

losing the 3.5mm jack pisses me off to no end, that being said a lot of those tiny waveshare screens have 3.5mm jacks build into them, and you can get audio over HDMI. Sad thing is, it wont sound as clean.
The 3,5mm audiojack from the older pies used to be rubbish anyway. I bought myself a pcm5102a soundcard from aliexpres for about €2,50. And it was easy to solder 5 jumperwires to it so I could connect it to the gpio pins from the pi. Vin - pin 2 Gnd - pin 6 Lck - pin 35 Din - pin 40 Bck - pin 12 (Sck - pin 14. this one is not really necessary) Then in the config.txt file you have to set it as a hifiberry and you are good to go.

It was kinda dim, but from the video it looked like you had your fan plugged into 2 & 6. That would be a 5V setup on an RPi4, but you said you were running on 3V. Did I not see your connections right or has RPi changed the header values?
It's still the same, so it's still plugged into 5v. I guess it's a testament to how quiet that fan is.
Correct I forgot I had changed it for PS2 testing. Well spotted, it is still very quiet

Do you recomend a mini pc for emulation? I have a rp4 and I like it. I was considering getting a rp5 however I’ve seen a lot of people say to get a mini pc instead so idk.
Both are good for emulation. The Advantage of a mini PC is overall compatibility. The Advantage of a Pi 5 is so many people have exactly the same device. Lots of specific projects are made for Pi 5.
Here is a mini PC playlist

Great video. Anyone know what the max size the microSD card slot supports?
There's a hard limit of 128TB in the SDUC spec and there's no reason to believe that the RPi5 wouldn't support it. Right now in 2023, the largest microSD card is a 1.5TB card made by SanDisk and Micron. Kioxia made a 2TB prototype last year, but hasn't released it to market.

@@leepspvideo my ssd gets disconnected. This is my second Pi4 that does this.
