  • In this video I provide you with some information on how to best condition jumping. There is a focus on the triple jump but the info will be applicable to the long jump and to sprinting.
It’s the first part of one of my Coach-Athlete Member videos and not only will it give you an insight into the types of training and the raionale for doing specific types of training aimed at improving jump power but it will also give you an indication of the type of content that I produce for channel members at Coach-Athlete level. To consider becoming a channel member please click on the link below.
The rest of the 15min video looks at French Contrast Training, Triphasic methods, leg stiffness and very interestingly assisted plyometric training.
The idea is that the complete video will provide you with the rationale for including (or not) certain types of training in your or your jumpers’ workouts. I back up my thoughts with much research - for example, in this segment you will see how the height of a drop jump can determine the effects of the drop along the speed-strength continuum.
We will also discover which muscles are pre activated and have high EMG activity when doing drop jumps and triple jumping. This is an important consideration as braking and returning force is key to the triple jump and indeed the long jump and sprinting. If we can use the right exercises in our jumpers’ conditioning and with the right loads and activations then we should expect improvement. Of course placing the options Into a functional training programme is another option.
I hope this video will pique your interest in channel memberships and also provide you with some information which will help programme jump conditioning even if you don’t become a member.
On that subject please consider subscribing as this channel would have well over 100k subscribers even if a further 20% of viewers subbed - and that does not cost a thing!

Coach, how do you keep your athletes healthy? I’ve been struggling with hamstring injuries this past year and while I feel I’m healed and ready to go, I want to keep them strong to avoid getting hurt again. Thank you!
