  • This is my California-Spec Federal Signal Vista, which came onto the market in 1996. As you may have seen in another one of my Vista videos, their unique design was one of the earliest attempts at handling the off-axis 45º intersection warning.
    This Vista is significantly different from my red/white Vista. While the other one had only flashers and rotators, this bar is packed with flashers, steady burns, a TCL, rotators (with reversed polarity on the inner rotators), takedowns.... and probably the most unique feature that I have ever seen on a Vista- corner strobes. I really like this bar because of all of the unique features that are packed into the bar. I know LAPD used these "footballs" for a while, and while this IS a CA-Spec bar, I cannot confirm that it was used by the LAPD.
    In case you are feeling nostalgic, here is my other Vista bar for your pleasure: • Lightbar Highlight: Fe...

    Easily one of my favorites. It has the perfect combination of strobes and halogens.

    Corner strobes: intersection lights w/ the motor removed and halogen bulb replaced with a strobe. Basically. (and a flasher added.) Never seen those and the lower outboard halogens before! Fun fact, my Vista has a traffic advisor and I can power it from my Code 3 RLS. Very nice bar!

    I have a Vista Strobe with a Traffic Advisor with the takedowns, alley, and TCL. - It's all Blue and I was told it was removed from a tow truck in Texas. Coming from a Californian it's weird hearing how civilian vehicles can run Blue in Texas. I forgot to hook up the ground when testing my bar and I ruined all the strobe packs, haha. Need to find some new ones.

    • @AdamsLights
      @AdamsLights  3 года назад +1

      That interesting. Even in Texas, they are typically Amber/Blue together (which is a weird combo too). All of their DOT trucks run blue/Amber too. Either way, that's a cool find!

    • @K5AmusementRides
      @K5AmusementRides Год назад

      I'm from El Paso Texas. Civilians are only allowed all Amber lights (With the exception of rear facing Red turn signals/Brake lights). Tow trucks, TXDOT HERO (Roadside Assistance) Trucks, Some construction vehicles, Highway/Freeway maintenance and Road work may run Amber &/Or Blue. Emergency vehicles of course are always allowed Red & Blue.
      Certain Tow trucks may even have Red & Blue Grille lights if they're at an accident and have permission from Police (Not too sure on the laws about that though).

      That's right! You are the first person to make mention of that!! I'm not sure if that was standard on the Vista's, but BOTH of the Vista bars that I own operate in that same manner. I love the uniqueness of that!! Good eye!!

    LAPD didn't use these bars, they went to the MX7000 after the Aerodynics. LASD on the other hand, they have always been an FS stronghold and still run several of these from what I can tell.

    • @AdamsLights
      @AdamsLights  3 года назад +1

      Actually, that's not entirely correct. While they may have been short lived, it's actually pretty easy to find Google images and/or YT videos of LAPD vehicles with Vistas. In fact, I learned of the very existence of FS Vista via LAPD vehicles... I had never seen that footballs until then.

      The Vista in general was definitely the predecessor to the Arjent. There were several different models of the Vista (check out my other Vista video too),but the series as a whole was the original version of "football shape", which eventually led to the Arjent models. Thanks for watching!

    My first Lightbar is the Vista and it's still on the original vehicle. It's almost fully populated, but lacks the take downs. If I put them in, will I have to run another wire out of the Lightbar and into the car, or would it have still been included in the harness? Also, since there is one empty slot on each end of the traffic advisor, would brake or backup lights be feasible?

    • @AdamsLights
      @AdamsLights  3 года назад +1

      To answer your questions, there are almost ALWAYS extra wires in the harness, especially in those bars. If not, depending on how yours is wired, you might be able to double other things up to gain a spare. This could be the case for the brakelights as well.

    I have several Vista's and finally found a longer one with 2 center sections. I want to load the lower side with Tri-optic Cuda LED which I have many in different colors. Can we change the color of the cudas ? I have about 80 red ones and I have no use for the red. I have about 15 blue, 12 amber and 15 green but have no use for the green either. Also how hard would it be to put the LED's on the top side to replace the halogen rotators ? I like the work you have done, I subscribed to continue following.

    • @AdamsLights
      @AdamsLights  3 года назад

      Trying to change the color of a CUDA is going to be more expensive and time consuming than just buying the new module. I'm positive you could easily sell and/or trade the colors you dont want, for the colors you do.
      Also, when you say replace the halogen rotators with LED... do you mean putting an LED bulb in the rotator? If so, that can certainly be done. It's not NEARLY as bright, and I would definitely NOT suggest it if you are using the lightbar in-service on a vehicle.

    • @Terk131
      @Terk131 3 года назад

      @@AdamsLights I know the LED bulbs are no good on rotators, I was thinking of LED light heads in place of the rotators but parts are not easly found. I have new clear domes I can use as well. I know halogen rotators give a better " pop" effect but they never really looked good in the vista.
