Don't think he uses a second hi-hat and definitely have never heard of SP using triggers, especially not back in 2000. His foot is keeping a constant beat on the hi-hat throughout the entire song and he's accenting it with lots of other cymbals. He's so good at this - have never heard anyone do it as good or better than he does.
