Why does everyone hate Adore and Machina? I love all their albums (so far, haven’t listened any of the new stuff yet) and I personally think Billy’s songwriting had matured after Mellon Collie. Although I absolutely love the dream pop rock of the early days, Adore and Machine give a feeling that can’t be explained.
Yes, they are AMAZING, just not the radio main stream itch the "empires" wanted at the time. Machina is actually my favorite album Check out Billy's solo album The Future Embrace if you liked Adore And don't forget about Machina II, kinda seems like b-sides but real gems in there.
Since Machina was never completed as originally envisioned, expect a reissue and maybe a tour. I hope something similar to Brian Wilson's Smile tour is in the works for Machina Reissue/Machina Complete. They're putting an insane amount of time and effort into the Machina reissue, so I expect they'll want to play most of it live.

@@raymondsmith9886 haha, wow I forgot I took the time to make this 8 years ago. I remember it working back then, but it’s definitely useless now. Enjoy the music.
I liked watching a childhood dream in Atlanta 2012, but wow.....seeing James and Jimmy in this makes me feel that this is more Pumpkins!!! Love you three....despite what Billy is doing, I think the four of you had the chemistry that made the Pumpkins the band it was. Only reason this vid isn't 100% is because of the one missing member, and the attitude that came with her :)
Love the fact that the advertisement I had to listen to before this started playing was for a new Stephen Malkmus album and Billy Corgan hates Pavement- haha
Corgan thinks every era is his best era at whatever time you ask him. He is delusional and I don’t think we will ever get back to SP unless he’s taken out of the equation.
I'm about to get pelted with rotten apples... but why didn't they keep her on bass? She was really really good and I bet she was a great deal more professional than D'arcy and wouldn't have flaked... I think I heard they almost had her come back on for the reunion, but it never worked out.
It's actually pretty interesting, not what I was expecting at all. It's faster and has a more punk influence in it. I can totally see where you're coming from if you're looking for something more solid though.
Chamberlin is essential to some of the best SP songs. BC would probably never admit it but JC had a lot of influence on his songs and how they turned out to be.
Jimmy's drumming...man...especially GATGC. I don't think Glass and Ghost works without keyboards. It needs strings and orchestration for the mood of the song to come to the fore. The shoegazer distortion is too singular to make the harmony stand out.
I only remember the story from 1996. I imagine since Jimmy went into rehab and cleaned up that Corgan was happy to take Jimmy back into the band, even if it meant that his replacement got replaced. I really don't know Wee zer
Jimmy was fired in the late Summer of 96 when their touring keyboard player died of a heroin overdose, and Jimmy was arrested for possession. I'll say alleged possession because I wasn't there. Jimmy returned in 99
does anyone know who edited this production? it's so frenetic, Jesus they must have been tripping, or head rushing, or trip rushing, its like flick flick flick flick flick flick flick flick - its' like who's even playing here....
You're most likely right. I am in no way trying to sound like I know them or that I am an expert on SP history. I do remember the news reports though. It was shocking to hear that n 96. SP were voted "Tour of the year" in the Seattle area. They were supporting the Melon Collie masterpiece, then to have something like that happen. Sad.
Bobby K Bobette Seeing Billy is a control freak, unlikely that Garson was playing outside of the Diva's wishes. All opinions are cool but I just can't believe Billy operated any other way than " my way or the highway"
Oh i'm not saying Billy wasn't happy with Garson's baroque licks. I'm just saying i wasn't :) but i know the "Garson arrangments" are quite popular among fans.
hahaha "stole our guitar sound" even though billy took the sound from mbv's loveless. his raging boner for that album was really ripping at the seams during siamese dream and shot its way through their career
but i think when i said "everybody from alt rock copied out sound", i think that was a much broader statement than if he were talking about the Siamese Dream sound or something. I believe he was talking about the Mellon Collie sound, which was dark, moody, and heavy
You'll notice in interviews with 90's alt rockers, especially the Pumpkins, no one was out to outdo and compete with the other necessarily. So many of them were fans of each other and totally played off each other's sounds. Doesn't bother me a bit. But I'll say, I love the shoe gazy aspects of the pumpkins and I come back to the pumpkins way more than My Bloody Valentine. But are they objectively "better"? No. MBV does something different for me than the pumpkins.
Billy’s just kinda bland I’m this particular performance. Not his best vocals either. Compare some of these to their handful of shows in 1999 and the difference is night and day.
+emaildenis this is one of the many versions of the song through the history of the band. Closer to the studio version are on the 95 to 97 tours. Check out the Adore tour version, 98. Its sick!
i know i might be a little bit late to the party on this comment, but the pumpkins are fairly well known for doing mash ups of their songs while touring
yeah, they do that often. Think about it, though. Wouldnt playing the same song the same way for years get really old? Im sure thats part of the reason

My favorite album of all time
My favorite SP álbum.
ONE OF THE BEST CONCERT OF THE HISTORY

Adore is the perfect SP album for me and I absolutely agree Billy's songwriting matured on that album🖤
Why do you say everyonr? Lol you’re just an idiot

Machina is on the same level as Gish, Siamese Dream… it’s a classic album!
Seeing Melissa play the old songs is so cool. She can still introduce a unique way playing the songs.
This tour has aged incredibly well.
I would love they bring Melissa back in the Pumpkins
I was there, The gig was sold out.
Unfogettable Budokan.
"He's the sumo wrestling champ. Under 100 kilos. He's taken the world title... Mr. James Iha!" LMAO I LOVE BILLY
THIS IS MY VERSION OF THE PUMPKINS. The HEAVIEST SM album tour....love this album

This version of an ode to no one is really cool.
at 35:00 corgan stops the incredibly amazing rock machine to tell bad and awkward jokes
thats a classic smashing pumpkins dysfunctional moment
ramiro martinez You guys have to think about how tired they already are, so they pass some time and catch their breath
Iha had an amp problem
Billy is a fucking moron... Always was and always will be. But I fucking love his music GODDAMN!!!
@@mtlns he's actually a genius
Damn he really says awkard things, it's not even funny
This is one of the best concerts of the SP, insane setlist
woah I love 2000 era Pumpkins

you are right. the smashing were only the originals.
Thank you so much, we were there, never thought I'd get to relive it!
This album has some of the most character and it came out at a time in my life where it was just great timing
La raja el James Iha en la intro de "Glass and the Ghost Children". Tremendo guitarrista, la cagó.
I need audio & video remastered of this 💕 I love it
Blew Away *-*
This was so perfect for me and my friends thank you so much loud guitars and clear vocals peace and love universe around.
this is so beautiful so very emotional stuff man they poored their selves in this concert
Love the fact that the advertisement I had to listen to before this started playing was for a new Stephen Malkmus album and Billy Corgan hates Pavement- haha
and I love both xD
Great voice blew away loved it
Probably the best version of Heavy Metal Machine.
“In Tokyo, we sang tragic blues…” - Machina II
My favorite band in the beautiful city in the world
So Beautiful!!!!
I'm going to watch this all year and play drums to it
machines of god, sweet album!!!
Awesome concert! Thanks Alberto!
This make me miss James more. Hope they have a reunion when they are inducted to the hall of fame.
They're all together now, except for Darcy, and they're making terrible music.
Did they know...this was their best era??
Corgan thinks every era is his best era at whatever time you ask him. He is delusional and I don’t think we will ever get back to SP unless he’s taken out of the equation.
ahhhh thank you papi! so sick!
Edited in Tokyo too, apparently. Buddy of mine films shit like this. He also has a long history of meth
Thanks for this, this was fantastic to watch. Seen them a couple of times and I can't wait for their next tour.
This was the pumpkins in their prime if you ask me !!
Wow. Mellissa Auf der Maur owns it.
Jimmy super.
Did anyone else notice MAdM wearing a Danzig wristband?
I'm about to get pelted with rotten apples... but why didn't they keep her on bass? She was really really good and I bet she was a great deal more professional than D'arcy and wouldn't have flaked... I think I heard they almost had her come back on for the reunion, but it never worked out.
Best Ava Adore live version ever.
I love it.... Thank you so much
Thanks!
Teve várias músicas do Machina, mas foi legal, aguardando o Lolla!
GRACIAS DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
epic performance of Heavy metal machine
Billy sounds like he took something before the show and is ready for bed.
adore adore 👏🤘🎸🖤🎤👻🎼

The last alnum from SP that I were listen to
Smashing pumpkins will always be Billy and Jimmy. Never underestimate percussion. The Beatles only made it when Ringo joined.
Chamberlin is essential to some of the best SP songs. BC would probably never admit it but JC had a lot of influence on his songs and how they turned out to be.
This version of bullet w butterfly wings is gold
Jimmy's drumming...man...especially GATGC. I don't think Glass and Ghost works without keyboards. It needs strings and orchestration for the mood of the song to come to the fore. The shoegazer distortion is too singular to make the harmony stand out.
birry! biri!
that look @ 1:22.....sound problems? Dont think it was an issue with Melissa. Over it by 2:39 with a bit of a chuckle
Jimmy was fired, Jimmy came back, D'Arcy quit, Melissa joined, the band split up, only Billy and Jimmy came back, Jimmy left.
Jimmy and James came back, D’arcy wouldn’t, they hired Jack, Jeff Left, they hired Kiki.
The saga continues.
I only remember the story from 1996. I imagine since Jimmy went into rehab and cleaned up that Corgan was happy to take Jimmy back into the band, even if it meant that his replacement got replaced. I really don't know Wee zer
Melissa Auf De Mauer the best bass guitar of Smashing Pumpkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nope
I think she was more of a musician than Darcy, who didn't do a whole lot more than tour. But Darcy will always be the face of the band
She certainly was more dynamic than D'arcy, who I could barely hear at times, but I still miss D'arcy.
Yeah
Yeahhhhh. The best. Wonderfull
Can I buy this on dvd anywhere? Hot Dang!
I think Kenny is more of a session drummer, he just filled in most likely
Jimmy was fired in the late Summer of 96 when their touring keyboard player died of a heroin overdose, and Jimmy was arrested for possession. I'll say alleged possession because I wasn't there. Jimmy returned in 99
what a terrible, lazy version of "Bullet"!!
more "improvisational" than "lazy", but yeah, if ya say so
That was the reason. They were sick of playing it for so long, so they purposefully did it lazy.
Looking at concerts from Adore through to Machina they have basically flubbed it everytime with weird experiments with it lol
Bullet is one of those songs that Billy got bored with early on, and he rarely performed it well on any tour. Adore is similar.
good thing there are hundreds of other great performances of it.
the crowd couldn't skip Blew Away
does anyone know who edited this production? it's so frenetic, Jesus they must have been tripping, or head rushing, or trip rushing, its like flick flick flick flick flick flick flick flick - its' like who's even playing here....
There was a lot of that type of editting being done in the early 2000s.
Neo Corgan?
When you see what the S.P used to be and now have become. Such a shame.
You're most likely right. I am in no way trying to sound like I know them or that I am an expert on SP history. I do remember the news reports though. It was shocking to hear that n 96. Just as good or better in my opinion. America's popular opinion and taste was just done with the pumpkins.
Awesome heuheuheu mantaaaaabpssss
sip bro
Garson is missed at this show. Watch the Paris (tweaked) show 2000 and you'll see the diff
James Quitadamo Garson is definitely not missed IMO. He took way too much space with his intros and outros
I'm just saying i wasn't :) but i know the "Garson arrangments" are quite popular among fans.
understood
Ode to no one goes full Kevin Dunn haha
hahaha "stole our guitar sound" even though billy took the sound from mbv's loveless. his raging boner for that album was really ripping at the seams during siamese dream and shot its way through their career
i feel like Billy's guitar playing was much more riff-based than MBV, though. Although he definitely jacked some elements from MBV.
but i think when i said "everybody from alt rock copied out sound", i think that was a much broader statement than if he were talking about the Siamese Dream sound or something. I believe he was talking about the Mellon Collie sound, which was dark, moody, and heavy

i much preferred the 90's era pumpkins..
I like cheese
This is seriously dreadful, Billy isn't giving all he has, so clear how close this was to the death of the pumpkins.
Dude go watch the walking zombie performances from this year...
@@JimmyIronballs This year's tour was great, saw them in august and was really happy with it, Jimmy still kicks ass for sure.

terrible version of "to sheila"...
Absolutely terrible Bullet's performance.
ehhh... one of those bands that are NOT better live... I love Smashing Pumpkins, but this is atrocious.
Dhujdic the way he rushed through Blank Page is totally unacceptable. That song is so dedicate and he just trampled on it
Saw them in 2000 after Zeitgeist and considering that is their most hated album the show was amazing.
Oceania show was great too
They are ending a tour with this show I think and his voice is obviously destroyed from the tour in this performance.
I'd love to know what the thinking was behind 'Bullet', why change it to an unrecognisable version, live. Why, why why?
+emaildenis this is one of the many versions of the song through the history of the band. Closer to the studio version are on the 95 to 97 tours. Check out the Adore tour version, 98. Its sick!
