'Parking lot t-shirts' is a good name for these independently produced unlicensed merch items. I have a few versions of parking-lot-tshirts I got at small town events back in the late 70s/early 80s. Summer fairs, Highland games and Tractor-Pulls always yielded the most unique after-market artwork. As I remember, at all of the Canadian venues I saw KISS concerts at, the local police and by-law enforcement were heavy handed in fining/seizing these street vendors wares. The shirts (sometimes bootleg photos) were a quick-sell item for $5 or $10 before the dudes would disappear into the crowd with their old newspaper-carrier satchels full of stuff all bunched-up. Those were the days when a legit-licensed KISS t-shirt was at most $12. Thanks for the show Ric.
Totally! I totally remember "bootleggers" of shirts getting run off, when I first started attending concerts in high school. It seems, they are pretty much every where the most recent shows I've been to, or maybe I'm just older now and notice more, or the cops don't care to fight it anymore LOL. Great memories! Very nice pillow ! Good idea to repurpose the shirt! I’ve enjoyed my box set when it came out! The demo’s really grabbed me! I could listen to demo’s all day! Never would have thought back in the late 80’s that demo’s would be ready available for us to listen to anytime ! I rem. Looking at those audio and video kiss underground recordings in a paper catalog! I was like man I wish I had all this stuff ! So I could hear it! Here we are today ! My how times have changed!
