Totally agree. The lift kit is cool but it is really only good in a couple of situations (mud and snow). It's a great add on is you have a spare truck just for those situations.
I wanted to put a high lift in my bronco or blazer but didn't want the high center of gravity. Then came the K10. Bought it and love it. Totally different drive then the other two. I recommend if at all possible get both rigs. You won't be able to wipe the grin from your face. RCTNT 💯👍
My Bronco drove and rode like a lumber wagon until I put the light or white springs on the long arm shocks. It doesn't sit as high but it flexes and articulates like you wouldn't believe. Give it a go and see what you think. Cheap upgrade. I did go with 45wt oil in the shocks
Nice job, that sounds like a really effective mod. With that in mind, I'm considering even just running a droop setup to compare performance with stock springs. Your performance would sit somewhere between the two, possibly, or else it might be the best of all three. Dunno yet. One way to find out! Keep experimenting! Thanks for sharing :)
I know I'm super late to the game, but with the white Traxxas springs on a *stock* body it worked great with 1.9" tires. When i added a roof rack with heavy items, the rear tire carrier, and lights, it was too much for the white springs and I went back to the stock long arm springs. Still on 1.9s, with brass carries and portals it's super fun to crawl with.
I would put the longer rod ends as it keeps it from flipping back on the steep climb. The wheelbase still looks stock as the lift sucks in the tires toward the center. I used the white softer springs and 15wt shock oil with the stock servo mount. You have to put the original front shorter upper link back on so it doesn't bind or bump steer. I also removed the plastic shock limiters. Its now almost a belly dragged with 2.2 tires. Crawls like a mountain goat on crack. lol Excellent crawling cause you have. Also great driving skills.
Holy Crap that thing is too damn high! Looks just like my Bronco on 40s did before we took it back to sanity on 36s. Does the cab need its own oxygen supply and do they need to file a flight plan anytime they go out crawling? All kidding aside, thanks for showing this. I was wondering what the long arm kit would really do in the real world, and you have answered the question. That's a lot of dosh for the kit, and in my case I don't think it would be the right path to take for what I want to do, but... for those looking for that extra clearance, I think you've proven this is the answer. It looks great, the parts seem to be top notch, and it seems to just work, exactly like it's supposed to. I'm curious to know how it performs on the stock tires and wheels with that kit. I suspect that's what a lot of people would do with it if they got it (I would), so knowing what that does might be important.
Haha, nice one. Yes, it is crazy high. Great idea on testing the stock wheels and tires with this. That's a video unto itself. I'll do a comparison, definitely. Thanks for the idea!

You need to take different lines with the higher vehicle, but with practice, driver skill will trump most technology-based upgrades in a comparison. First!! Haha, hadn't done it yet on your channel, I think. Not that I cared but I just bumped into your video, right as it was published. I am not a TRX4 fan. Neither of raising the CoG, yet I still enjoyed the video for always learning new stuff. Like that line you took on P3. I would've given up after the last tumble. Great driving. Proves how much I still have to learn. Thanks for the lesson!✌🏻
Take the spacers out the shocks, get white rated soft springs, use 15wt oil and run 1.9 tyres... You'll have an awesome droop setup for crawling. Probably use the original servo mount too to stop it fouling.
Thank you I was wondering what the best weight is for the long arm kit. Everyone has such different opinions. Some say heavier weight is better. Some use 80wt for crawling. Inuse 90wt for my Kraton 4s it seems too heavy for a crawler but what do I know
It doesn't matter a great deal for crawling, honestly. You're not usually trying to dampen repetitive movements that are typical of a car at speed - that's when shock oil really matters a lot more, to ensure traction on rough surfaces. For crawlers, having some oil is better than no oil, but anything from 15 to 50 will do. I use 30 usually.
I added 20mm (10mm each side) to my width after lifting. I had to anyway with the brass weights. Pro-Line wheels didn't have the clearance behind them.
Ah, that might explain your clearance issue. You can fit more shallow offset hubs or wheels, depending on what you're running. But it's all gotta fit together, doesn't it! Hope you get it worked out!
You guys are selling me on the idea, which I wasn't quite sure about at first. Good for stability, but I didn't want to lose that narrow, up-high look. +4mm on each side is minimal though, really. Thanks, I'll probably do this.
I just put the lift on mine w/ 1.9" Pro-Line Interco Boggers. Also have some extra unsprung weight. I used the recommended spring settings on the shocks, but the body roll is best way too much, too easy. Even rubs the body (K5 Blazer) really bad. Did you tighten your springs more than what it suggests in the manual for the lift?
I did add some pre-load to the springs, in the rear in particular. That will help lift the body up a bit. Also, the Boggers are 5.4" from memory. The 2.2 Canyon Trails are 5.3", which is similar - but they don't have the same epic lugs the Boggers have. I think you've got the right idea: add some pre-load and test, then repeat until you're happy. Hopefully that works for you!
Of course I was thinking the Bronco would topple over on most of these but it really stuck well! The weight down low seemed to balance out some of the height and heft of the big body. I'm in the position now of wondering if I want to try the optional more overdrive in the front. For the crawler nerds in us, it might be cool to have a video on more front weight vs more overdrive vs different tires / traction. I watched your Gladiator video about adding front to help with its length and balance. Do you think the optional overdrive in the Sendero HD would adversely affect the trail-ability? Still being new to this I don't know when drivetrain strain starts to hurt the motor or parts. I should probably just keep practicing before changing more things 😇😂
Hi Andy, thanks for the thoughtful comment. Overdrive does add a little strain to the drivetrain on the trails (and on the rocks, to be clear - moreso, even), but the vehicles are light enough that things will skid and move rather than anything breaking except in extreme traction (which will be on the rock rather than on the trail, if it happens). I can give you my 2c right now on weight vs overdrive vs tires: better rubber every time, first. Then, overdrive if you're doing tight stuff or a little extra weight for steep ascents. Generally speaking, overdrive is helpful in many problems, as is weight. I'd do tires then o/d then weight, though o/d is often impractical unless there's a transmission or diff gear option for the vehicle. Do o/d if you can, but tires are the big one. And driver skill trumps all of them, so get out there :D
@@RCTNT That's awesome, I really appreciate your advice and time. I bought some good size rocks at the gravel yard when I was buying some actual gravel. Hey, thanks for the vid! Looking into lifted trx4s cause I'm thinking about getting the high trail. What are you thoughts about widening the wheel base on a lifted rig for helping side tipping?
I often don't like a widened track on crawlers because it increases the likelihood of diffs being hung up on rocks. That said, with 2.2s under portals and the long arm lift kit, there may not actually be a better vehicle configuration than this for widening the track a bit! I think you should go for it, maybe even up to like 8 or 10mm on each side. It'll increase stability and if you're cool with how it looks, I think you'll be happy with how it drives.
I only got the experience from thinking, "what would happen if I did this..." and then doing it! Go for it, you'll learn stuff. And you can always undo it! 👍
Yeah, I like it :) Haven't tried softer springs in this case, though I've experimented with similarly specced rigs in the past with longer travel, droop, etc etc.

Lift kit and bigger wheels will be more versatile than the Traxx, but the Traxx will be best for sand and snow - but not much else! Personally, it'd be lift kit and bigger tires all the way. The Traxx are a cool and interesting novelty but very narrow in their benefit to the rig. Thanks for the positive comment, too :)
Hi Craig, know of any 1.9 proline tyres that won’t rub standard 79 bronco? My foams are shot in canyon trails 😢 just ordered bead locks so want something new. I was gonna try the sweeps trilug but there 53mm wide 😅
BFG Goodrich Krawlers and TSL Super Swamper XL both fit fine, from memory. It's been a while - I put the long arm lift kit under mine some time back - but I did run both those and pretty sure there was no scrubbing. If you want to make completely sure, buy tires that are 4.65" outer diameter or smaller. As far as width goes, I simply can't recall, I'm sorry. Make sure you keep those canyon trails. @@jamesdoughty1522 it'll take a bit of tinkering probably but it beats buying the entire Traxxas LALK if you don't want the shocks. That's gotta save a bit of money, you'd think! Good luck!
Never Thought i would like PROBLEMS ;) Informative good Video as always^^. Im Thinking about to add Traxx or Lift Kit to my Sport for Winter?! What do u think would be better?
Lift kit and bigger wheels will be more versatile than the Traxx, but the Traxx will be best for sand and snow - but not much else! Personally, it'd be lift kit and bigger tires all the way. The Traxx are a cool and interesting novelty but very narrow in their benefit to the rig. Thanks for the positive comment, too :)
@@RCTNT Thank you.
Thanks for sharing buddy
No worries! We're taking these out again in just a few hours. They're a blast on the trail.
Nothing stopping you putting in fresh foams at some point!
@@RCTNT mate your extremely helpful! But I already ordered the sweep trilug 🤣🙄I’ll let you know how I get on. Gonna watch your short course truck video now before bed 🛌 thanks again for your help bud 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey no worries! (I haven't actually heard of sweep trilug before, I guess I'd better look into it for my comparison series coming this year). Cheers
And now I have a set of Sweep Trilug on the way, which I'll include in my comparison series. Thanks for letting me know and it!
Traxxas TRX-4 High Lift Edition K10 is out now 🤔
Yes it is and if I was deciding between the lift kit and the new one it'd be an easy choice. New one, please!
The ultimate hauler arrived in Australian stores two days ago so I've finally got one of them coming. I'll look forward to nabbing one of these in November or whenever traxxas gets around to supplying Australian hobby shops with them!
@@RCTNT The ultimate hauler, very cool :) Can't wait :) You could put the Axial SCX10 II Deadbolt on it 👀
Haha sure, sure. I guess that might possibly happen!

Tried to buy that a few weeks ago! Thinking of making my own instead, though maybe they have stock again now. Thanks for the tip
i can tell you definitely know what your talking about when your crawling
Always more to learn! It's a fun hobby, that's for sure.
@@RCTNT yes. i just ordered my first trx-4. it’s going to be here in the next week! so excited 😋😋
@@dawsonkallio3809 that's awesome! I'm excited for you too :)
@@RCTNT yup. i started my own rc youtube channel too. now when i get my crawler i can make videos like you!
@@dawsonkallio3809 not sure if trolling... But if you are sincere (I'm pretty sure you are but I'm not great at subtext!), that's great and more power to you. I've found peace and purpose in sharing this stuff on the channel here, it's been a great experience so far.
Happy crawling, friend.
How did u groove the tires
A Dremel and a narrow grinding disc. Eye protection, n95 mask, gloves and patience! Did it by hand, one lug at a time, rotating the tire bit by bit until all were done. Flipped it, did the other side, then did the next 3. Took a while but results were worth it!
Suspension seems to be too strong. Mine is very soft. Front wheels are not always in contact in your test
Good observation. You could be right! But, it was really steep ground. I think it's about right. Have tried softer and harder, I found this works best on mine. Remember though mine has a lot of extra weight under it, as this was a trail truck before I converted it. YMMV, as always! Cheers :)
👍👍👍
That is the best place for that dirty ass mag wheel
Tell us how you really feel lol!
It tackled problem 5 easily
Aye, killed it!
Je le trouve mas beau comme cella trop haut
Oh oui, je suis d'accord. Merci

Feels like you were in the middle of saying someth
Just enjoying your lifted bronco video and it reminded me of the video I seen. I am going to send it to you on Instagram and tell me what you think? If you get a chance.

This is the video for anyone wondering.
Interesting idea, thanks Dan. I'll watch it again later and think on it before I give an opinion. Definitely respect the creative thinking! Cheers :)
