Nostalgia Addict1978 I have 170 titles in my Megadrive collection and approximately 250 on the Master System, Game Gear, Saturn & Dreamcast combined so i think that says a lot about the strength of the Genesis games library.
The Saturn is so underrated. It was the golden age of games, so even the least successful of the main systems still had a huge catalog of very good games. A Saturn-mini cannot come soon enough!
I had a Saturn and I half agree. See, I got it brand new from SEARS for $40. so it was a steal. BUT at the official launch...$600 with very few games was a rip off
@@calebpriceproductions2412 The Saturn was launched at $399. Sure, a PS1 was 100 bucks cheaper, but needed a memory card and didn't come with a game. The Saturn launched with 6 available games (one of which came with the console), compared to the PS1's 12; sure, not great, but compare that to the N64's two launch titles lol.
I never played it but have seen videos and it does indeed look awesome. I believe that it was included in that PS2 version of Taito’s greatest hits , but was ported poorly so the Sega Saturn is the best way to go.
Scorcher (same game studio as AMOK) is one of the best underrated unnoticed racing games. It is challenging, fun, has a great soundtrack and gives you a real sense of speed (especially when played in the first person viewpoint). Some of the most impressive 3d graphics on the system in my opinion.

Great, honest, informative video! Your episode notes are always fantastic. I was in middle school when the Saturn came out and I love learning all these details about the era that I was slightly too young/broke to be able to delve deeply into at the time
Mystaria for me was one of those games that you rented at Blockbuster and liked it so much that you kept on renting it again and again, to the point that it would have been cheaper to just buy the damn thing!

Not very much into fighting games, space shooters or shinobi style games, so I still prefer PS1 because of MGS, Silent Hill, Winning Eleven, Abe's Oddysee and others. However, as a fan of good FPS and good games in general, I love the Saturn: Quake, a decent version of Duke Nukem, Guardian Heroes, awesome 2D graphics and some cool Sega arcade conversions. I was a lot into 3D games in 1997-1999, but now I see that many genres work much better in 2D: fighting games, beat em ups, graphic adventures... Great videos! I now own a Genesis / 32X, Japanese Saturn, and a Dreamcast! Love them! I missed out on the Sega CD and the Saturn back in the 90’s. Back then I had to divide my time and money into the Genesis, NES, SNES, and 3DO. Then eventually I moved on to Xbox and PlayStation, etc.
As a newish Saturn owner, I very much appreciated this list. :) I'd probably try out Mystaria/Blazing Heroes if Fire Emblem Three Houses wasn't coming out in a few weeks...
Nothing like a SLX Saturn video on a Sunday. There are some great games on the list, specially Decathlete, Pocket Fighter and F1 Challenge. I haven't played F1 Challenge, but it seems to run really smooth, I even dare to say that looks like pretty solid 60 fps. I'll try it immediately. Thanks a lot for the tip. More videos on this same topic will be welcomed, without a doubt.
I’m liking this channel more & more. I was more of a Nintendo kid but I did enjoy a good Genesis game. Very interesting stuff here about all the games I missed out on...
I've been a fan of the Lode Runner games since the days of the Atari 8-bit computers and Commodore 64. The Saturn version is actually *really* good with tons of great puzzles and gameplay. I'm glad they kept the similar, simple graphic style. It still feels like the classic games, just nicer.
Love this video, SLX 🖒🖒 Reminds me of your early video's on your original channel where you took a handful of Saturn games no one was talking about and showcased them 😎 Those early vids have a special place in my heart, so seeing a new video in similiar fashion but with your current high standard and polish is a real thrill! Looking forward to part 2, hope it becomes a series 😁
Out of the 10 games I only own pocket fighter. Although I’ve rented Amok before. For a future episode I would add Solar Eclipse, which was a Saturn exclusive, and the best game in the series. Not many talk about it though.
My Saturn is not running well... sadly. I hope i can fix it. This is my OG Saturn. I have another one a Japan Saturn. But the PAL Saturn was and is my favorite Console and the Dreamcast of course. Thank you for those Amazing videos and the love you give for our Favorite Console.
samghost13 I know the feeling. My Saturn mostly still works but it is almost 25 years old so it has its problems reading disks sometimes.the upcoming Polymega will play Saturn games.
Nice video, had no idea Load Runner The Legend Returns was on Saturn. I got a ton of SEGA Saturn Games.I have Command and Conquer on SEGA Saturn. Later, my family upgraded to the PC version. Even though people trash, Mr Bones, I rather like it for it's unique style.
Another excellent video. I feel like Cyberbots could be another worthy addition to this list as it goes for so cheap and is one of the best collector editions in the Sega Saturn library.
I wish they had released both Cyberbots and the original beat ‘em up arcade game that all the characters came from, that never got a home console release and it was so much fun, I would’ve loved to have both on my Saturn!
Some correction about Lode Runner The Legend Returns : the game was made by Presage Software and released in 1994 on Dos by Sierra and later repackaged on CD with digital soundtrack the year later. The same year was released Lode Runner Mad Monk Revenge, a enhanced port coded 32 bits (so it can run on 64 bit OS) with three new environments. Lode Runner is fairly popular in Japan and The Legends Returns was ported by Patra. There is an extension on Saturn called Lode Runner Extra. Those games were also released on the Playstation.
@10:45 ahhhhhh, Voxels ! Brings me back to games like Comanche : Maximum Overkill and the tank one, Armored Fist ? Interesting days for graphics evolution, different approaches, variety and exploration. 😌
I passed on Blazing Heroes back in '95 because it looked so ugly . I picked it up about ten years ago and had a blast finishing it. It's so fun! Also, AMOK has a killer soundtrack. Sometimes I pop in the disk just to hear the music. It's a fun game too.
I wish more people knew about Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru. I know it's rare as fuck, but it's such a unique and weird game that deserves a bigger following.
Watched the intro and was pumped to see RoboPit. Amazing pick for this video, spent a ton of hours building my robots only to get pummeled in the 40-50 range. Ever play Grid Runner? That game was awesome too.
Cool video ! It's like you'll never run out of things to talk about the Saturn ;) On all these games you are showing, the only one I own is F-1 Challenge. It's pretty good ! It has the "Sega racing games" feel.

Nice to see Mystaria get some recognition. Picked it up complete because it was dirt cheap at the time, and it was worth it. I hope to see Cyberbots, Fighters History Dynamite, or at least Groove on Fight in the next one.
Awesome video. I have Decathlete and Robopit and agree on your thoughts of those games. Now I gotta hunt down some of those others. That F1 game looks awesome. Wish they'd bring Indy 500 out on something! (as well as Scud Race, Daytona 2, Outrunners, etc).
Indy 500 was in development for the Saturn at some point. I don't know how far they got, but it'd be awesome for a playable release to pop up somewhere.
Great video! I was a big fan of the Shining Force games on the Megadrive so i was very happy when i picked up a copy of Mystaria for the Saturn. My local gameshop didn't really support the Saturn and very early in the consoles life all the games they had in stock were dropped in the bargain bin (Panzer Dragoon Zwei, WORMS, Mystaria and Robotica cybernation revolt). So i bought those 4 games for very cheap and three of them were very good games! (i didn't like Robotica that much). Recomendations for a future episode: Dark Savior (one of my favorite games on the Saturn but you never hear anything about it...) Shining Wisdom (a great Zelda clone in the Shining universe) Albert Odyssey Legend of Eldean (fantastic RPG!) Shining the holy ark (maybe this one get's some more attention, but i think it's word mentioning here!) Magic Knight Rayearth (fantastic graphics, gameplay and humor!)
Gotta love Lost Vikings, glad that I didn't have to pay much for it. I do also remember playing Amok in split screen co-op, never beat it though without cheating.
Great info. Black dawn reminds me of a thunder blade sequel or something. Cool channel as I’ve been an avid fan for months. I will catch you on the next episode.
Sega Lord X Jef Jansens remained a playable character in the Pal version of Decathlete or Athlete Kings as it was called, a far better name in my opinion.
I had Athlete Kings when I had my Saturn for short time before getting a Playstation. I seriously missed it when I traded it in, one of my fave Saturn games alongside Sega Rally.
I never realized Zero Divide was a sequel and not a port, looks way better than the original. My future suggestions: Prikura Daisakusen, Keio Yugekitai, Steamgear Mash, Image Fight & X-Multiply, Gussun Oyoyo S, and Assault Suit Leynos 2. I'm curious about Reverthion, ever try it?
19:54 I was expecting Bomberman characters as enemies, but there aren't any. I also noticed Hudson Soft wasn't credited, so it's likely why there are no Bomberman characters as enemies.
Black Dawn personally reminds me of games like Extreme Assault for MS-DOS and the Comanche games, also on PC. Also, I played a demo of AMOK on PC and all I could remember was having to gun down a shark coming after me in one level. That and the fact it was an underwater 3D shooter.
I traded my Genesis and Sega CD in at Babbages for a Saturn the second week after the surprise US release. Never regretted it, especially once I modified the drive door to open so I could swap a burned disc in.... Never even heard of that Zero Divide game, looks fun.
This channel is awesome, and this comes from someone who only bought Sony consoles when Sega was still making machines. It would be great to hear your opinion about the consoles that were competing with Sega, especially in the 32 bit era, but also in the 8 bit, 16 bit and 128 bit eras. What was your perception of the PS1 and N64 at the time and how has it changed? What about the PS2, were you hoping it would flop? It should make for a good video. Oh and, by the way, if you finally decide to make that video, perhaps you can also include computers as the competition! I'm interested in your opinion of the C64/Spectrum/MSX/Amstrad computers in the 8 bit era and the Amiga and PC systems in the 16 bit era. For me, 16 bit PCs were the best platform of all times. But hold on, the message is not over yet! I also wanted to mention that, as a PS1 owner, I don't think I would have changed my console for the Saturn, BUT there are so many amazing games, some of which I have discovered in your channel (Guardian Heroes, Quake, a real version of Duke Nukem 3D) that I probably wouldn't have minded to have a Saturn instead. I feel the same with the N64 due to the multiplayer games. The 32 bit era was the best for console gaming, IMHO. Keep up the good job, you deserve millions of views for each video! I hope you can achieve that soon!
I HAD POCKET FIGHTER AS A KID, MY FRIENDS HATED IT AT FIRST BECAUSE OF THE CHARACTERS BEING CHIBI, BUT WHEN THEY PLAYED IT THEY LOVED IT JUST AS MUCH AS I DO. I HATE FIGHTER GAMES, BUT THIS ONE I LOVED BECAUSE OF SIMPLIFIED CONTROLS THAT LEVELED THE GROUND WITH MY FRIENDS WHO WERE CHAMPIONS OF HARD TO CONTROL FIGHTERS. MAN I LOVE THIS GAME.
The Lost Vikings 2 was amazing! Never beat it but i had the PS1 port and it makes me happy knowing its even being mentioned here. It is without a doubt a “lost” treasure.
I remember playing a ton of Zero Divide and Zero Divide 2 on PS1! Went through Arcade with all the fighters. Also had a friend, who is heavily into robots and it was one of the games we went to for dumb fun.
I bought Amok back then because it was one of the only 3D Saturn games with split screen 2 player mode. It turned out to be an awesome, bit tough game. I only beat it once, but it was great to beat that laat scorpion tank boss.
AMOK is also one of the best soundtracks of the era. It is done by Jesper Kyd who did Red Zone on the Genesis and later went on to do The Hitman games among others!
I remember buying ZD for the Saturn when I bought Tekken 3 in Early March of 98. The price sticker on Tekken 3 was $80 but the store owner offered it to me for $70 since I always bought a good amount from him. I then asked him to throw in a new copy of Zero Divide for $100 total. He looked at me for a sec then said ok. Guess it wasn’t selling too well because a couple weeks later Zero Divide for the Saturn was on sale for $30. I felt it was a fair price.
I loved Back Dawn back in the day and I had Mystaria along with Decathlete we had great times trying to beat each others records in the events I had Pocket Fighter for the Pal Saturn but it didn't come with the cartridge
Great video! Thank you. My recommendation is Cyber Doll - japan exclusive rpg with unic gameplay and setting. Game also english friendly and very cheap.

Jef Jansens remained a playable character in the Pal version of Decathlete or Athlete Kings as it was called, a far better name in my opinion.
Heard of Mr. Bones? Truly underrated.
Btw I know pretty much neither of the games in this video, so thank you for educating me.
No problem. Thanks for watching.
at first I hated Mr Bones but, after playing congo I will never complain about Mr Bones again
Icy Lake...
world series baseball 2 might be the best baseball game ever made.
Who made that into sound? Is that from somewhere? It’s great.
Nice presentation. I enjoyed it and to be true i want to try some of these games. Thanks for sharing!
I had Athlete Kings when I had my Saturn for short time before getting a Playstation. I seriously missed it when I traded it in, one of my fave Saturn games alongside Sega Rally.
Yeah, my friends and I dropped crazy amounts of time into it. It was the party game of choice for months.
So many amazing soundtracks on the Saturn. Rocking that F1 Challenge OST now \m/
Thanks for this. I haven't played a few of these.
Nice Video , was very surprised by Zero Divide and F1 Challenge.
I never knew about one of the characters being removed from DecAthlete. Guess I'll be tracking down a copy of the JPN version soon.
Yeah, I never really understood it either.
@@SegaLordX It's quite simple to understand really as "he was removed because he was considered racially insensitive".
I traded my Genesis and Sega CD in at Babbages for a Saturn the second week after the surprise US release. Never regretted it, especially once I modified the drive door to open so I could swap a burned disc in.... Never even heard of that Zero Divide game, looks fun.
I couldn't agree more about Pocket Fighter. My daughter's 8 years old, and we have a blast playing the game together.
Nice work as always dude.
Thanks, bro.
love all the uploads lately & great vid as always
The Lost Vikings 2 was amazing! Never beat it but i had the PS1 port and it makes me happy knowing its even being mentioned here. It is without a doubt a “lost” treasure.
I remember playing a ton of Zero Divide and Zero Divide 2 on PS1! Went through Arcade with all the fighters. Also had a friend, who is heavily into robots and it was one of the games we went to for dumb fun.
Solid video brother thanks for the insight
No problem. Happy to see people liked it.
I bought Amok back then because it was one of the only 3D Saturn games with split screen 2 player mode. It turned out to be an awesome, bit tough game. I only beat it once, but it was great to beat that laat scorpion tank boss.
This channel is very good :) Also AMOK and F1 Challenge looks damn impressive!
Decathlete looks amazing. I wish all saturn games looked like this. It's Just incredible....
I loved Back Dawn back in the day and I had Mystaria along with Decathlete we had great times trying to beat each others records in the events
I had Pocket Fighter for the Pal Saturn but it didn't come with the cartridge
Mystaria is highly recommended, I loved that game. Great tactics, good music.
Lode Runner, Robo Pit, Pocket Fighter...wow, the memories
Great video! Thank you.
My recommendation is Cyber Doll - japan exclusive rpg with unic gameplay and setting. Game also english friendly and very cheap.
11:18 AMOK's soundtrack is by Jesper Kyd.
