Just a note from an Australian business owner: it's illegal here to sell something at a "discount" if you don't have a well documented history of selling it at the full price. We have some pretty good consumer protection laws here, assuming they find out about the offenders.

I swear every scammer says this thing verbatim, "There's this really important piece of knowledge that will literally change your life, but before I tell you about it, let me talk to you for a minute about ______." Then they proceed to rabbit trail for 10-20 minutes, and waste a bunch of time.
That is an important part of the pitch, the goal is to keep the main idea in the back of a person's head while they share a narrative to entice the target to be invested, you are more invested when they manage to connect to you through personal "stories" (which are most likely B.S) once you feel emotionally invested, it is much easier to be lured into the sale.

Actually ironically, schemes like this could help the minimum wage because they'd take people out of the labor pool and cut the downwards pressure on wages.

If you work 3 years, store your money away safely then I guess you can retire after your prison stint. If you get arrested early, the feds find your money or you get murdered then not.

I love how all "get rich quick" scammers say the exact same things in the exact same order. Sell the dream. Who am I? Buy my $5k course. The only thing differentiating them is their faces. Seriously, if you blur their faces and change their voices, you wouldn't even be able to recognize individual scammers.
They all follow the same basic formula because its proven to be effective. They also use manipulation to push people to buy without thinking first. That high price listed is an anchor; they don't expect anyone will ever pay that much, but by stating that as the value of their program, it makes the discounted price way more appealing. $497 seems insane on its own, but when you say its discounted from $5k, it suddenly looks like a bargain. Making the discount limited time creates a sense of scarcity and pushes people to buy now before the deal goes away.

in the united states minimum wage is still 7.25. only a few major cities and employers pay 15
