What about hypothyroidism ? You only talked about hyper thyroidism? I have nodules with hypothyroid as well. And it’s 500. And I wanted to get pregnant and it’s not happening but my thyroid function is normal. Will that nodule go away or do I need a surgery?
Reading your comment right now in 2020 and I’m wondering if you still have that nodule or did it go away? Also were you able to get pregnant by any chance?
Nodules do not go away. The decision to have the thyroid remove via surgery can be made between the doctor and pt for multiple indications such as recurrent, multiple nodules, nodules growing faster than supposed to in 6mon/yr by the guidelines, determination if the nodules are benign vs precancerous, thyroid levels and inability to regulate TSH and T4 and overall genally acceptabilty to surgical intervention by the patient. Have direct experience with this myself and a close friend similarly dealt with thyroid issues and PCOS the same for years told she would never be pregannt so she was never worried about it. Got the thyroid removed. Regulated on levothyroxine approx 6 months laterfound out a lovely surprise 😆. KY, PharmD
