What you call spamming a bunch of photos is what Samsung calls burst mode. Activate it by holding the shutter button and sliding down. You can take 20 photos in a second.
iPhone user and developer since 2007. Bought the S23U last week to try it out, my last android was Sprint WiMAX. I must say I like it a lot. Device is excellent quality and a lot went into it’s design and implementation. iPhone is more like a slowly evolving product compared to android which is on the forefront of change, some better some not. Anyway, I am thinking of getting the 1Tb model because that camera is on par with my DLSR 7D if not better, and fits in my pocket. My 14 Pro Max is good, but the OS lacks and has been lacking for almost a decade. The primary selling point for me is OS integration, which Apple has mastered. Not much else makes it better to the S23U. Will be a tough choice when I return it this weekend to get what I actually want. Will be keeping both devices, 14ProMax and S23U. Too many devices already in the ecosystem to completely change overnight. But Samsung has garnered my interest, and that is not easily earned.
Yep I just got my Samsung 2 days ago I haven’t set it up yet cause I got to wait for my case to come in but I’m so glad I will be coming from a iPhone 13 Pro Max I can’t wait never going back to apple. And there updates recently are so minor they barely do anything on the other hand samsung is complete opposite they improve
I sold my 13 pro max and bought 23 ultra, happy, very happy, I've been an iPhone user since iPhone XS Max and a lot of good changes in android ecosystem, android auto might be better though
Lol Android fan boys keep an eye on Apple. And an iphone next to their droid. Androids lower model phones such as the A23 are pure crap. Won't send videos. Won't record video. The lowest tier apple phone has no problem sending and receiving video.
Hello, @Dalton Parker, To be honest, The shutter lag is not an inefficiency in the photo processing. The shutter lag is there for a good reason. The S23 Ultra makes composite images, it takes 9 images, with different exposures and merges them together in the final image before it is shown to you. This is the reason for the shutter lag.
Im still fairly new to Android, since the S21 Ultra, had the S22 Ultra and now the S23 Ultra. I still love my 14 Pro and the ecosystem no doubt but I'm openly having an affair with the S23 Ultra, its a beast and the customization is great but I can still go with my 14 Pro for just smooth optimization and integration. Still getting used to the Android ecosystem with my S7 Plus and Galaxy Book 2 360. Apple better bring the heat with the 15 series.
I switched from an iphone 12 pro to the regular S22 and have not regretted it. I like the ultra specs except i need a "regular" sized phone. Samsung needs an ultra in smaller form factor like apple does with their pro.
The regular S phones don't really lack any features to warrant a pro version. If they had one, there would just be two almost identical phones. Unlike the severely downgraded regular iPhones.
If you want to charge it on 45W, you need to buy a cable too. In the box, you receive 3A (25W) cable, and 45W requires 5A one. Without this 5A cable, even if you charge it on a 45W adapter, you have no difference between the 25W one and this.
The reason they leapt as far is because they dropped the Exynos SOC, which has been holding Samsung's flagships for years and the SD Gen 1 was just disappointing. The SD Gen2 is doing justice to compliment the stellar hardwares in S23U to it's full potential.

Over time I’ve customized it to my liking. Hence my watching this video). I use voice control a lot for navigation, have accessibility shortcuts and assistive touch menus. With the swipe gestures and the upper left back button (having dual functionality) I enjoy using iPhones much much more. I carry and use both phones daily. Most of my major apps are on both phones. I’m enjoying using both my phones. I only buy Samsung phones as my Android choice because of the S Pen.

great video and smooth review. Im still rocking the iphone 7 plus but im waiting to see what the z fold 5 is about. If the z fold flops im defiantly looking into getting the s23u. Keep up the quality work

This phone has brought over more iphone users then ever before including the youtubers its been pretty crazy to see. Samsung def made something special with the s23 ultrs this year. They nailed it for sure!
The camera doesn't have "Shutter Lag". The cameras default setting has slow shutter speed. You should know that Samsungs Camera Assistant app allows you to enable "quick tap shutter." All that about pro mode and dark photos to speed up shutter isn't correct.
You gotta try Samsung Dex. It's the game changer that you could do a whole video on itself. Best way to use it is with USB hub that has HDMI out and passthrough charging. Bluetooth Mouse, Folding bluetooth keyboard and gamepad. I use the xbox one controller. All you need to to is plug your phone into a screen and it just works.

I love my S23U but the blurry pics are just killing me. I don't have time to switch to pro mode and get everything dialed in just to take a pic of my toddler that won't come out blurry.
Audiophile here...the S23 Ultra definitely beats out the IPhone speakers in terms of richness and separation however it may not be as loud at peak levels. Having said that...I don't know who actually uses a phone speaker to listen to music or watch movies in the wireless buds era but you're losing 80% of the subtle notes in a song or film either way with speakers so tiny on a phone. If you are though, IPhone may perform better when listening to podcasts but the S23 performs better with music and film
let's be honest, you've got to spend a decent amount to be able to hear all the detail in a track. For speakers, I spent 1k between the speakers and DAC, and another 1k soundproofing the room. And the headphones & dac/amp cost 800$, and there's still more detail i'm sure. but you are right, anyone with a 1,400$ phone can afford headphones, earbuds and a wireless speaker.
Me like i noticed Samsung is a smartphone unlike iPhone, iPhone needs you to turn it smart. iPhone still like 2000’s cellular all you can do it texting and calls
The difference is hardly noticeable between the two. The best thing you can do to reduce their saturated look, is shoot in 50mp. The processing isn't as much and looks more true to life
So I recently bought the 23s ultra and I really liked it once I was able to finally get all my iPhone data transferred. But the one thing that made me go take it back and get the 14 pro max is iMessage. I couldn’t stand not sending hi res videos to my family and friends. Don’t really feel like sharing access to my photos with 3rd party apps. And the day I took it back that gorilla glass had two very small chips. I do feel I’m using an inferior phone now that I’m back on apple. But both phones are good. I just wish Samsung would create their own operating system and dump Google Android.
Notice every other review of a Samsung phone is titled “iPhone users perspective” or “iPhone user tries Samsung” there’s a reason for that and we all know what it is lol. Then in the comments section of that SAMSUNG review, people can’t seem to make a comment without mentioning Apple. It’s like how you can’t watch a Tudor review without Rolex being mentioned.
My 13’s battery was better than my 14 Pro Max. I have owned every iPhone made and the 14 is my least favorite. I personally think the S23 is light years ahead of my Pro Max.
@@shaneoaks1923 my iPhone 14 Pro Max can live for 3 days. When I use it heavily it lives 1-2 days. I have no idea where those battery complains are from. Maybe that was a problem at the beginning but now it's gone. I was using Samsung S series and switched to iPhone this year. For me it feels more smoother, coherent. It's like an art and copy of art (android).
great job with the review! I like Samsung phones but in the camera app, the high exposure is the first deal breaker for me (the bright areas are too bright are lose details), followed by the shutter lag. I would add the aggressive sharpening processing. One UI is really heavy but has good personalization options. I don't like the really small status bar (compared to Pixels).
Just one thing, as mobile dev i need to correct you about narrative that apple takes huge cut and that’s why apps and subscriptions are more expensive, it is the same cut(for years) 15%.
@@Dalton_Parker I can’t give you specific reason, but i can tell you why my company will charge more for iOS app, first it will work on iPad as good as on iPhone with all iPad capabilities(requiring some work), there is a good chance if dev is not lazy to work on mac, then most off apps will work on apple watch as well, iOS designer is more expensive, and in general ios apps are running design trends, most of the time there is no Android design because there is no trend there, every manufacturer going with their own things. And in 90 % cases you will get more and faster updates and features on iOS even for google apps.
@@byteworks11070 And i would say as a both platform user , that i feel way more confident downloading apps from apples app store , for me as an android user since the galaxy note 2 (2012 ) , (and an apple user since the iphone 12 series) it got to a point where i no longer wanted to download googles apps due to apps with annoying pop ups , some nefarious , even some of the android launchers which early on i loved using , many i deleted and just kept a few of the big name ones due to my lack of confidence in them being safe , and if you look at past history there have been many many reports of dodgy apps in the play store . Clearly google is trying to clean up the app store , but i now much prefer apples walled garden of app store which these days in my opinion cops a lot of undeserved criticism. .
That is the difference between Samsung phones and the iPhone is Samsung allows customization so you can setup the phone however you want. iOS is too inflexible for my use.
Folks complaining about the camera, there is a Pro mode in the camera. You easily customize to your liking. I think IPhone users are used to Apple thinking for you. Android is a whole different experience. Make the phone your own and enjoy. If you like not having freedom of choice, stay with IPhone
always been an iphone person did my research on the s23 ultra got it and now i have both 14 pro max and s23 ultra cant make up my mind so why not have both :)
Always makes me curious when a review says battery life is awesome. I have never had an android phone that last longer than my equivalent level and generation iPhone. Ever
Never been an iphone user, but every time i try and switch off a Samsung Galaxy, i come back and forget how good they are. Im really really trying not to get the S23Ultra bc my S21+ is a beast, I love it and i dont neeeed the upgrade.
Hold up y’all, didn’t Samsung say something about IPhone’s speakers being on the bottom of the phone. And they “have” speakers on the bottom of their phones
I have both the iPhone 14 pro max and the Samsung galaxy s23 but don’t know which one to send back to return and which one to keep I like the more natural pictures on iPhone and that it takes quick god photos on fast objects like our dogs, but the freedom the screen and the handy how handy it is and much you can customise it to you liking.
@@Dalton_Parker So what? Samsung decided to copy them. Apple doesn’t have any pen or stylus compatible with iPhone screens. Has Samsung ditched the S Pen? Samsung makes decisions that they believe will ultimately profit Samsung. (I’ve used Samsung Android phones consistently since the Galaxy S2 and an iPhone also for only the past 3 years. I like both products for different reasons and carry both daily. )
idddddk about the cameras a whole lot. the screens are pretty good that they can lie about camera quality because most pictures look pretty good on these new screens even if taken from a "not so good phone" u load it on the s23 screen and it looks good better than it should on the phone it came from the screen has a big play in it imo. Go load a s23 shot on a s3 ....
Kind of unacceptable for a flagship phone of this magnitude and reputation over the years to require so much tinkering and altering just to take decent photos.

@@marian8757 I’m sorry but that’s not what I have been seeing. Most if not all, are saying you need to change the shutter speed. Or that there’s a update around the corner. No hate, but it’s a shame that it’s come to this.
@@Richptoptier The reported problem was a delay between the shutter button being pressed and the picture being taken. Yeah that’s basically what I was saying, even iPhone photos are enhanced by ai, doesn’t exactly make them “fake” but that’s what everyone is saying now
To fix the shutter speed issue for normal pictures use camera assistant in goodlock. It allows you to switch on a quick shot option and then also prioritize speed over quality.
Yeahhh this is the way!
@@Dalton_Parker it's frustrating to have to use a work around. However I'd say it's positive you get to have options!
Tbh when someone doesn't like a newer s series and prefers iPhone. I just don't think they understand how much more you can do with an Android.
You can for sure do so much more on android, but I guess some people prefer the simplicity of iPhone which is understandable
They aren't to bright and Fanboys love being told what to do
great video and smooth review. Im still rocking the iphone 7 plus but im waiting to see what the z fold 5 is about. If the z fold flops im defiantly looking into getting the s23u. Keep up the quality work
Thanks so much for the kind words 🙏 glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Your definitely right shutter speed is slow and starts raising the iso to much to compensate. in PRO mode its much better but then zoom options are not as good. best phone out there ! but nowhere near mirriorless systems shame the convenience of a phone is great
Indeed, I doubt we’ll ever get to mirrorless quality though
Awesome review bro!
Thank you 🙏
One question. Does social media apps still sucks on Android? If yes it will never beat Apple.
Not sure since this is the first Iv really used android
They do not suck but they are more polished on iOS.
Google does the same thing for subscriptions paid for through Google Pay. Very easy to see all subscriptions and cancel them.
Yeah you are gonna love it when your case comes in, which case did you go with to start?
@@Dalton_Parker I got a puncase I like my phones clean no scratches nothing my current phone is in great condition like brand new. I go for a case with a screen protector built in
What keyboard is it? :)
The keyboard on my desk? It’s the Keychron k2 mechanical keyboard :) I made a short about it too :)
How often would anyone take pictures that fast? I can see using Single Take and Burst Shot
True
It really comes in handy, as I am an automotive photographer!! And a random supercar spot here and there.
Helps when cars are flying by.
@@db_auto_photography4539 Burst shot would be really good for something like that.
my s pen air command didnt work always inserted showed not connected try to reset, connected show after few second inserted again
Hm is it still not working properly?
Do you use a glass protection fot the screen? If so, which one?
I don’t
@@Dalton_Parker not even a film protection? Do you think the screen is strong enough? I am asking this because i have just bought a s23 ultra🫣
Just bought S23 Ultra. Everyone told me to buy 14 pro max bt i bought it. I don't understand all the functions yet bt seeing your video puts a smile on my face
Where are the wallpapers from?
Bro, go to camera assistant and fix the supposed lag
Ok
4:09 All my subscription are laid out in my Google play store's subscription section
Which wallpaper application you're using
It’s from bramdmedia on Instagram and also Sam beckman
@Dalton Parker thanks brother
Google play handles subscriptions too. All of mine are there.
Google play has all your (Google) subscriptions in one spot and you can totally manage them from there. I don't know about Samsung store though.
Interesting, is it only google subscriptions though? The nice thing about apple is as long as you get it through your iPhone, it’s there, no matter the brand
@@Dalton_Parker No I didn't explain it well, i meant it's all your app subscriptions within the Google store, not just Google apps, and you can view a history of all your purchases too. Kudos for your videos.
Ohhhhh I’ll have to check into that! Thanks for watching 🙏❤️
You really overlooked some things just because they are worded different in the phone didnt you? Its scary because most of it is commensense lol. This phone has brought over more iphone users then ever before including the youtubers its been pretty crazy to see. Samsung def made something special with the s23 ultrs this year. They nailed it for sure!
Wasn’t the shutter lag removed?
The camera doesn't have "Shutter Lag". The cameras default setting has slow shutter speed. You should know that Samsungs Camera Assistant app allows you to enable "quick tap shutter." All that about pro mode and dark photos to speed up shutter isn't correct.
Quick tap shutter just makes it to where it takes the picture on contact instead of on lift right?
You gotta try Samsung Dex. It's the game changer that you could do a whole video on itself. Best way to use it is with USB hub that has HDMI out and passthrough charging. Bluetooth Mouse, Folding bluetooth keyboard and gamepad. I use the xbox one controller. All you need to to is plug your phone into a screen and it just works.
Oh yeah Samsung dex is awesome, I mention it in my recent videos too
@@Dalton_Parker Im going to check it out, I don't even know why I started watching your video because Im already an Android guy lol but your content is top notch so I'm going to stick around. Keep up the good work. 🫡
On last update there is no any shutter lag… Photos taken instantly!!!
Yeah it’s great
Exceptional review
Thanks so much 🙏
@Dalton Parker writing using my new S23 Ultra
Android does the same thing with the subscriptions if you bought the subscription through the app store.
Bet, is it through the google play store?
hate the shutter lag as well
Camera assistant app turn on shutter during tap not when finger lifts
Yeah it helps a bit
I love my S23U but the blurry pics are just killing me. I don't have time to switch to pro mode and get everything dialed in just to take a pic of my toddler that won't come out blurry.
Try camera assistant too I may make a video on this but there are quite a few already out there
Get the Pixel 7 Pro
So have you tried adjust the equalizer manually?
Has the camera on Snapchat and instagram improved on Samsung
The play store has an area where all the subscriptions are in one place. Can cancel, renew and such
Yeah I hadn’t known this at the time of recording, that’s my fault
@@Dalton_Parker like u said, u still learning new things everyday. Lol
Right haha
Me like i noticed Samsung is a smartphone unlike iPhone, iPhone needs you to turn it smart. iPhone still like 2000’s cellular all you can do it texting and calls
Exactly ....Phoney made for stupid sheep
I really want to check out the s23 ultra
I think if u turn off scene optimiser, pictures will appear less saturated n more natural.
Bet thanks, I’ll have to try this.
Soooo you went back to iphone because everyone else still had an iphone?
Gotta turn on that burst on the camera
I know I know
I had an iphone 11 before switching to pixel 6a it's a good phone but I want to go back to iphone I think I'm Ganna wait for the iphone 15
iPhone 15 is gonna be boss hopefully
Google also takes 30 percent of developers as well.
Your inexperience shows but you did ok. Thanks for the content
Where can I improve 😁

My iPhone 14 Pro Max battery can live for 3 days. I don’t understand why you compare S23Ultra with iPhone13 but not 14
Like flossing Carter says it has good battery because iphone doesn't do much
@@josephmessere7617 sounds silly
Interesting, that’s my bad then, Iv always heard apple takes more, what’s the reason behind the price hike for apple’s subscription?
@@Dalton_Parker I can’t give you specific reason, but i can tell you why my company will charge more for iOS app, first it will work on iPad as good as on iPhone with all iPad capabilities(requiring some work), there is a good chance if dev is not lazy to work on mac, then most off apps will work on apple watch as well, iOS designer is more expensive, and in general ios apps are running design trends, most of the time there is no Android design because there is no trend there, every manufacturer going with their own things. And in 90 % cases you will get more and faster updates and features on iOS even for google apps.
Fascinating! Thanks for your knowledge straight from a dev 🙏
Clearly google is trying to clean up the app store , but i now much prefer apples walled garden of app store which these days in my opinion cops a lot of undeserved criticism.
.
That is the difference between Samsung phones and the iPhone is Samsung allows customization so you can setup the phone however you want. iOS is too inflexible for my use.

soooo... it does the same thing my s9 does, nothing new

Folks complaining about the camera, there is a Pro mode in the camera. You easily customize to your liking.
I think IPhone users are used to Apple thinking for you. Android is a whole different experience. Make the phone your own and enjoy. If you like not having freedom of choice, stay with IPhone
Yeah you really do have way more freedom and options
I'm with you. Apple feels like a prison. 😉
Yup cause they are nt bright enough to adjust

That’s my pov too :)
Can you please share the wallpaper if you can thanks 👍

@@Dalton_Parker so odd! Wonder what they even pull from
The new iPhones done bored me so much. I still prefer these cameras over them. I like very saturated photos
Never been an iphone user, but every time i try and switch off a Samsung Galaxy, i come back and forget how good they are.
Im really really trying not to get the S23Ultra bc my S21+ is a beast, I love it and i dont neeeed the upgrade.
A penny saved is a penny earned! Maybe wait and see what they have in store for the 24
You should download the latest camera update.
You talking about the April update?
Hold up y’all, didn’t Samsung say something about IPhone’s speakers being on the bottom of the phone. And they “have” speakers on the bottom of their phones
Probably haha
I have both the iPhone 14 pro max and the Samsung galaxy s23 but don’t know which one to send back to return and which one to keep I like the more natural pictures on iPhone and that it takes quick god photos on fast objects like our dogs, but the freedom the screen and the handy how handy it is and much you can customise it to you liking.
They really are both amazing devices, It would be hard to only pick one.
Don’t blame Apple for Samsung’s failure to put a charger in the box. Other companies still do….. Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo for example
Yeah but who started it? Yeah that’s what I thought. Apple.
I like both products for different reasons and carry both daily. )
@@adegbenroagoro5180 Apple was the originator. Apple js a greedy company.
I love the saturation of the samsung phone but the video quality has a lot of noise. which is so sad because my oneplus 11 produce a better quality.
That’s unfortunate
I really want the Plus version of this phone
I like the plus versions looks better. The flat screen is really cool and the overall form factor is nice too
Which maniac has candy crush in their main shortcut list!?
Haha
idddddk about the cameras a whole lot. the screens are pretty good that they can lie about camera quality because most pictures look pretty good on these new screens even if taken from a "not so good phone" u load it on the s23 screen and it looks good better than it should on the phone it came from the screen has a big play in it imo.
Go load a s23 shot on a s3 ....
Haha you have a point
I hate that he goes, "the worst thing about this phone, IS THAT ITS THE BEST"
Kind of unacceptable for a flagship phone of this magnitude and reputation over the years to require so much tinkering and altering just to take decent photos.
True, but there’s only so much you can do with such a small size
Mine is taking great photos right out the box.
No tinkering needed. You need to check out some more reviews because most are saying the S23 ultra has the best camera on the market today.
@@marian8757 I’m sorry but that’s not what I have been seeing. Most if not all, are saying you need to change the shutter speed. Or that there’s a update around the corner. No hate, but it’s a shame that it’s come to this.
@@marian8757 samdung shill detected
@@Richptoptier The reported problem was a delay between the shutter button being pressed and the picture being taken. The reason being the shutter was waiting for the finger to come off the button before reacting. Changing the shutter speed would have no effect on that. So I don't know where that solution was coming from. But the update with the fix has already been released, and people are reporting great results. It's now designed for the shutter to react as soon as the Sutter button is touched or you have the option to keep it the old way. Whichever works for you. Good luck and enjoy your phone.
