    I Love how easy this ruclips.net/user/postUgkxvAj3godqGAIP5rApM1laH767JGtPG1-h carrier is to adjust from my friend to me taking turns holding the baby! It provides great support on my back too! This has definitely made shopping easier! I always get asked where I get it too!

    Thank you for this tutorial!
    I was wondering if we can pull the zips below their thighs to the middle, to put them from knee to knee? I'm a bit worried her legs are not properly supported. She's two months old. Thank you in advance

    • @SouthEastSlings

      Thanks for your question. So for the first 3-4 months babies generally curl up with their knees above bottom but knees no wider than hip width. It's important not to over-extend them. At around 3-4 months their muscles have developed so their legs than wrap around the wearer.
      Leg positioning is not a safety issue - it's more about comfort for baby and supporting them ergonomically.
      To achieve an optimum ergonomic position want to ensure that baby has a decent pelvic tuck, so they have a gentle curve to their spine (I'll link to my video going into this in detail below). Their knees will then be above their bottom, with knees around baby's hip-width apart. Their lower leg should hang straight down and be able to swing freely.
      If you need to move the zip a little way to support them like this (e.g. if baby is very long for their age) then you can move it a small way across. Maybe an inch (2.5cm) or so.
      If you're not sure whether to make it wider or not, it is better for the carrier to be a little too narrow than too wide. It is really important not to over-extend baby's legs.
      Hope that helps! Here's my video going into more detail about pelvic tuck: ruclips.net/video/N4a4lCLzDhE/видео.htmlsi=8UrsCIxsiB_c3e5O It shows with both a stretchy wrap and a buckle carrier

    That was such a helpful review thank you!! Please could you tell me when we should change from the newborn position to baby/toddler position? Or how much they need to weigh?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. When to move to the older baby position will depend on your baby's torso length. Until they have full head control you want to ensure the top edge of the carrier reaches the nape of baby's neck/baby's ear lobes. Once they have full head control (generally around 4 months old) the top edge of the carrier can sit anywhere between their armpits and nape of neck.
      They are ready to move into the older baby position (so the lower zip setting) once they fit the carrier on that setting with the top edge no higher than the nape of their neck.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi, thank you for this video! My babybjorn carrier one falls way down and I cannot kiss my newborn's head... Any ideas on how to fix it?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  2 года назад

      Thanks for your message. So first of all, check that the clips on the shoulder straps are sitting just below your collar bone. If they are lower than baby will end up being carried lower. So move the shoulder straps over your shoulders until they're in this position (with any slack fabric behind - you'll tighten this once baby is in). Make sure the harness part over your front is flat against you.
      Also check that the carrier is on the 'newborn' zip setting.
      It's worth bearing in mind that - for most babies - the carrier fits best from a few months old. Unless they have a very long torso at birth, it can often be a bit big for them for the first few weeks.
      Hope that helps!

    I’m trying to decide between Ergobaby Omni Breeze, BabyBjörn Harmony or One but I’m stuck. I’m mainly looking for good upper/lower back support, ease of getting on and off, breathable, and can be worn for long periods of time as I’ll be using it everyday while doing chores and tending for a toddler at the same time.

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question. Carriers are like jeans; they really do fit everyone differently. However, I would say I get a lot more customers finding the Ergobaby Omni Breeze easier and more comfortable than the BabyBjorn One/Harmony. So if you are going to be buying without trying, I'd probably go for that. But have a watch of the demo videos for each and see how easy you'd find each of the movements for putting the carrier on/tightening/clipping it up

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  3 года назад

      Hi! Thanks for your question. If you look at the mesh part of the 'harness' bit, there are two zips. One is the shorter/newborn setting and the other - closer to the waistband - is the older baby setting. Hope that helps!

      Hello! They're both very different carriers and suit different people and babies. Have you had a look at my videos showing how they each work? If you're not able to try them on in person at a local sling library or similar that's definitely the best plan. If you'd like to have a face-to-face demo and be able to ask questions, I offer one-to-one Consultations via video call. Hi there, the baby you are using seems monstrous, or you are super tiny. Will this work for a smaller newborn at around the 3kg mark?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  2 года назад +1

      The Baby Bjorn One tends to work best from around 2 months old. It’s unlikely to safely fit a baby at 3kg unless they have a very long torso. The demo doll used is c 3 month old size. The video demos it on the newborn setting but I don’t generally find it fits a new newborn until they’re a few months old

    Do all the ones have the option to keep the head flap down? Or is this a specific model/ year?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your question. Yes they do, although the newest edition (released start of 2018) holds it down more easily than on previous editions, where it had a tendency to flap back up

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  5 лет назад +1

      So sorry - only just seen this. It's possible to fold the flap down on all options. The most recent one (early 2018) is a little easier to keep folded down, but it can be done with all

    now do it with a real baby lol...

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  Год назад

      Believe it or not it’s actually easier with a real baby. Parents who I work with usually try various different carriers out with the demo doll first, to narrow down their options, before trying with their actual baby. Although they tend to be more anxious to carry their baby than the doll, because a real baby naturally sits in position it’s generally much easier to use the carrier with them when than the doll. Dolls tend to be a bit of a ‘star fish’ shape and can be quite tricky to replicate a baby’s position.
