1987 Toyota Pickup 22R Steering Gear Box Replacement

- 1987 Toyota Pickup with the 2.4 liter 22r Carbureted engine and a manual transmission. Also, this is 4wd so the torque specs are different from a 2wd. I am replacing the steering gear box on this truck as it is leaking like crazy from the front seal, the lower seal, and where the case meets each other. The play in this one was really bad as well. I am suspecting it to be the original one too.

if you are adding a new gearbox how do you know where to align the shaft in the gearbox with the steering shaft? to mke sure its all straight
The gear box comes in the position where your tires should be straight. So, I would just line everything up straight and you should be fine.
@@operationoverhaul in the case of a used gearbox? what then?
@LittleRiverKingfiser if it is used then I would turn it as fast left as it can and then count how many revolutions it takes to turn it right then center it up that way
