@@BrokenG-String Actually, there are some classes that don't give you an ability when mastered, and only a combat art exclusive to that class , like swordmaster (Astra), Sniper (Hunter's volley), and 2nd tier post time skip lords (3 separate ones for each lord that i don't remember), and because of that, i think i decided not to cover them in the video.

Fusillade is a bow based Gambit as well. Fairly certain it has 2-3 range too.
Claude's Gambit is fucking broken tho because it's easily the best flier Gambit when the other flier locked gambits are average.

Raphael is the only unit in the game that has Monster Crusher, the brawling Combat Art. You'd think that after the DLC gave us the fastest unit, a character effective against Monsters, and a Magic user that has a boon in Reason and learns Bolting, they'd give it to the Brawler with his own relic.

I don’t know if it’s because I got RNG screwed but for my first playthrough, my Shamir had the 2nd lowest attack out of the units I actually used regularly but had just under 50 Dex by the endgame.
She could crit like a champ but as far as normal attacks go she was pretty weak.

Kelvin Rafael as not worth it as it is right now (petra kills more with crits than she every will with lethality, as will pretty much any character who masters assassin) I would have still used it if it still had the same kind of animation as it did in Awakening.

Tbh i really miss the busted skills from Awakening, because they FELT like major rewards for mastering classes.
The triggered skills like Astra, Luna, Sol and Vengeance with their high activation rates...
The stackable Rallybot characters, the stronger Renewal and Lifetaker, the broken WeaponBreaker skills, the 100% Armsthrift...

yea the current lifetaker is such a bummerand disappointment, and i hate class they gave poison strike too, wish it was thief so you would ask yourself if you want your archers dipinto swords and master it for more cheap damage or go bow/spear/cavalry for bow knight primarily
both dark seal classes are such weak rewards for a boss kill i dont understand why devs made them so special, they are not really better than their counterparts and their masteries and skills are pretty bad.

Ah yeah, Awakening’s skills are busted over high activation rates and use overall though something I’m a bit upset on trying to accomplish for lunatic is getting all the skills on the exp dlc maps as the rates aren’t fixed there with the only enemies there is that actually get a good chunk of exp are those 60 hp enemies where the rest float around 10 or 1 exp. Reason why I’m doing dlc map is because seriously the roaming enemies on lunatic is not fun at all cause they are all in an advanced class, gets forged weapons and have capped stats.

Quick Riposte is literally what Heroes is gonna do with that skill for the Tier 4 version. It's honestly worth it for many units like Raphael, Dedue, I'm even giving it to my Hanneman since you use him every play through and his Speed is awful, I'm literally only improving his Axe and Brawling ranks.

Grant Delia Alois is basically made for that class, with such high weapon ranks in Axes and Gauntlets it's very easy to get that class just a bit into the timeskip depending on how much you use him.

@@lucifermorningstar8562 its a three weeks old comment, but feed her LOTS of stat boosters ( it's how i got my marianne to beat up randoms with gauntlets after making her a dancer lol ) i suggest you look up which flowers and seeds you have to plant for the boosters and which maps might have some hidden gems. also, if you got the dlc, the new additional map is stuffed with stat boosters. :)

It seems as though they used FEH as a template for how abilities would be handled without thinking about how much of a difference the meta is between the games. The small and quick formats of FEH battles easily allow players to make Desperation nukes, since you're typically not going to get overwhelmed, so protecting these glass canons is easier. However, mainline games require players to deal with swarms over the course of a longer battle that will likely require even your glass canons to take unexpected hits.
This is particularly frustrating cause they removed support skills like Inspiration and heavily nerfed Rally skills, but didn't add the new support skills like Spur, Hone, or Fortify. This effectively whittles the support archetype back down to just being a heal bot since there aren't really any support abilities and the only ones they have access to are not worth while when compared to just equipping offensive skills like Fiendish Blow and the S/S+ magic abilities they'll unlock.

I noticed this same thing. They threw in a bunch of abilities from Heroes without really thinking about whether or not they would be useful in this much bigger type of game. It also seems as though they removed a lot of skills from past fire emblem games which were significantly more useful than what we have been left with.
I remember looking at tier lists for awakening and fates and they had a ton of skills that were all listed as worth it or must have, mean while the majority of the lists for three houses has most abilities down in very situational or not really worth it.

@@kieranpearson5096 well yes and no, going by just one, you are definitely right, but you can generally gather data from multiple tier lists, and if you notice something is consistently at the bottom or top, it gives you a decent idea of what might be considered overpowered or just garbage. Basically no one seems to care for the defiant abilities in three houses, which kind of tells you their general worth, meaning even with all those different people play styles and builds, those skills still end up consistently lacking for basically everyone.

Recently with the Anna quests, I’d say “Steal” has gone from “poop” to “extremely situational”, since on skirmish maps that spawn Trade Secrets, 2 out of 3 can _only_ be stolen, and unless you want to respec to a lower class you’ll be completing those quests (and thus obtaining more stat boosters) at a much slower rate.

I made my Sylvain become a Great Knight and Got both Pavise and Aegis and he basically tanks everything (even mages) from the enemy team. But I haven't tried it on Maddening so I don't know how that's gonna go. Doing my Maddening playthrough currently. (Archers are the most frustrating units to play against)

I agree with most of your explanations Chaz. Player phase seems more important this time because enemies stack together more. The movement arts, Blows (Death, Darting, and Fiendish) and simple stat boosts are worth it.

This was shockingly on point. Good shit! You're so right about keeping your units healed, and the gymnastics people go through to set up the low HP stuff is so baffling to me. This ain't Heroes!
I would consider moving a couple of the movement skills up to top tier. Perhaps we don't care about turn counts yet, but Draw Back and Reposition, as well as Shove on mounted units, are all going to be fantastic for that.

I agree Defiant Avoid and Crit are on a category of their own. Defiant Avoid is the one that actually feels intuitive. And I thought Defiant Crit was not that big of a deal or very different from Wrath but... let Seteth learn that shit and he can Swift Strikes with a Killer Lance+ or Smash Killer Axe+ with a Major Crest of Cichol as a safety net and he just deletes enemies, then cantos away into safety.

I believe the correct experience is either to give your characters random classes without actually changing what that character does, or else submitting to to the all-devouring force that is wyvern spam.
Or better yet, both.
Swordmaster classing into wyvern rider, and flexing on bow knights by giving a bow to your pegasus is the true three houses experience

Poison Strike also has the added bonus of not hitting the current healthbar on a beast!
So if you take down a beasts healthbar, the Poison Strike will proc on the next health bar instead. So if the enemy has 1hp left on a bar, use a Poison Strike unit, as you both get the kill on the current bar, but also the 20% damage on the next, which is the enly way a unit can damage two different healthbars in one round...

Shoutouts to Darting Blow for coming with triangle attack, which between the monster units and canto on all fliers is a lot easier to pull off in this game than the GBA ones. Sure it requires 3+ fliers to pull off but fliers are kinda kickass in this game. Highly recommended on any lady you plan on getting airborne.

I know I’m two goddamn years late with this comment, but I’m back on the FE:Three Houses train after playing FEW:Three Hopes recently, so here I go anyway:
I think Steal (thief mastery) should be bumped up to “Highly Situational”, as it is an extremely useful skill, in my opinion, to put on a Flying unit.
In particular it is useful to steal Dark Seals off of the Death Knight (assuming you have enough Speed, but my Petra did on my Black Eagles runs, so yeah).

6:08 - Steal is a lot more viable than I think you're giving it credit for. There's a lot of maps where jacking free items is great, even if it's just to sell them. Mind, the value of doing this is up to the player's discretion and if they're trying to 1000% complete the game or just get through it casually.

When I play in maddening, I use the classroom units to be prepared for the timeskip mission. So with the golden deer I had Ignaz in my roster. Ignaz is very bad attacking, but, with killing blow, poison strike, and his debuff skills (Budding skill that reduce speed, and acher skill that reduce str), he become a good archer to make attack first on big fat ennemy units putting 3 debuff at once. Lethality, on that kind of character make really sense.

I would argue that Lethality is a little better than this video implied. In my Golden Deer run, my Ignatz was regularly triggering it 3 or 4 times a battle by Chapter 18. To each their own, but I definitely got some good mileage out of it in my experience.

My biggest problem with Vantage and friends is that the battalion versions exist, and come from authority ranks which everyone gets anyways.
Why would you have a half health unit when you can just keep a battalion or two of dead mercenaries around? I'm pretty sure that's even what the bandit battalions are for.

Im gonna have to say that using battalion boosts normally far outweigh whatever wrath and vantage can provide, but you do bring up a good point that battalion abilities is the path of least resistance for basically the same result.

@@Choops6969 The battalion abilities are character locked though, and manipulating battalion endurance is a lot harder than manipulating unit health, since you can only top them off completely and outside of battle, and the abilities stop working when endurance hits the only number you can reliably keep them at, zero (or at least BWrath does. Does Vantage? Iunno. Would still mean sacrificing Battalion stat boosts and gambits)

Don't worry, that character is probably pretty weak to offset how broken that combination is right? Right?! No...it's Dimitri. LOL what were they thinking?! If you raise Dimitri's flying to get alert stance plus, keep his hp at full to proc his passive of avoid +20, use a battalion with avoid up, and use a high crit weapon...he's literally going to never get hit and kill everything in one hit. It's actually kind of stupid.
