Water softens steel and allows it to be more flexible whereas dipping the glowing Steel in oil adds carbon to it there for hardening it. I love the car!
What part of Michigan are you from? I’ll be there in a month.
When you said "for my old ford" I had a vision of a much loved but battered old farm truck. I was NOT expecting that beauty. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank You Thank You Jessica
Yeah seriously it was either old farm truck or some kind of chromed show car that I was expecting. Not that piece of beautiful automotive history.
Can't believe anyone gave this a thumbs down. That is excellent work! That thing looks amazing even though it didn't turn out as you really wanted it to but hey...looks perfect to me. Bullet casings and red, white and blue as you shift gears. What's not to love.
Thank You Thank You
Wow. Driving that car on old country dirt roads, with a shotgun shell shifter. . . . . You may have just hit a whole new level of American lol So awesome
Thank You Thank You Lance
Mom and Dad bought a '29 Model A for the Bicentennial. I can still smell the smells and hear all the sounds and feel all the springs in the seats. A great addition to a great piece of history
Thank You Matt
Dude, the car and the car ride at the end... Man, you're living the life!
If I get to that point by your age (you don't look too old, still plenty spry), beautiful property, workshop, and a project car, I'll consider myself in heaven!
You have a lot to be grateful, sir! I wish you many more years of peace and prosperity!
Thank You, I busted my you know what to get all this, I started off living in Detroit not that that is a bad thing but it made me work harder to get where I am today, 53 this Feb.
"Oh well, can't see it from your house!" Best line ever....sir I would love one for my car!
LOL Thank You Nathan
The final result is great... I like how you showed your "mistakes" and overcoming them.
Thank You Thank You
i was impressed with the gear shifter knob, then I saw the car.....OMG.
Thank You
Always great seeing a man making cool stuff. We need more people like that!
As soon as I find a house I can afford, I'm gonna set up my own workshop, too!
In the mean time, I get my crafting fix from reloading ammo, making fishing lures, and watching videos like this one!
That's Awesome
While the shift knob is definitely an outstanding piece of work, the test ride in the Model A was the highlight of the video. Well done, once again.
Thank You John
man seeing that Model A on the dirt road.. That just hits different... And makes it SOO much better
Thank You Bill, I get crap for driving it on the dirt roads but it rides better than a new car on them.
@@PohlBarnProductions look man not need to thank me i was just speaking the facts.. After all that car was built way before roads were ever paved so.. In my opinion its not meant to be driven on a paved road just dirt or gravel
I really don't have a choice, I live on a dirt road, thank you was for watching and commenting.
Kicking knob and thanks for taking me for a ride , super sweet ride 👊😎🤙🍻
Thank You Any time!
My problem is that I would have kept trying to fix every single little imperfection until I ended up with a thimble instead of a shift knob. Nice work!
Thank You, I started to, then I just filled them with the CA glue and called it good,
Yup, I been fighting perfectionism my whole life. I had to learn good enough is exactly that. perfectionism is a waste of time unless your inside a Rolex or doing artwork meant to be scrutinized. It has no real-world everyday use. And, if you do have to break it out make sure the money is right.
I really like that! Looks great in the car too 😊
Thank You Rod....Glad you like it!
That car at the end was gorgeous, my dad had one years ago but we never had it looking like that. It was nice just to spend time with him ( thinking I was actually helping fix the car ) . Good old days.
Thank You Deano
Nothing better than taking your finished project for a ride.. Nice shift knob!
You got that right! Thank you
This is the wholesome content I needed today
Thank you Dexter I am glad you liked it
Loved the ride along great shifter knob. The car is great we did a shake rattle and roll along with you. Hagf
Thank You Norma Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the car ride.
My dad would make shifter knobs out out some type of metal then he would cut and polish a nice rock and inlay it in the top of the knob.
Stay safe
Love the shifter knob and I really love the car, I had a uncle on my mom’s side of the family that restored old cars like yours. I went to my uncles house every chance I got just to help him work on those old cars.
Thank You Maria
I personally love channels like this that keep all the oopsies and accidents in vs cutting them out so they seem perfect.
Thank you Thank you, I am far from perfect !
@@PohlBarnProductions we all are my friend thats why i love it! haha
I like it!! The ride at the end is pretty nifty, too!
Thank You Jen, see a ride was better than watching it drive away !
Looks nice! Sounds like your car was about to take off into the clouds!
Thank You Cheryl, yeah you can't hear that when you are in it, funny that the camera picked it up like that.
PBP: You are rare,!! meaning that you are the only one that answers ALL of your posts, at least the ones that I subscribe to, which are a lot!!!!!. Thank you for being so thankful to your subscribers!!!!!!.
Thank You , well I might take a day or two, but I feel I wouldn't be here if it were not for all of you, so I answer all and I do mean all even if they are bad comments or at least the first comments
I wish sometimes YT had a super-fantastic thumbs up button. Riding in the old Ford was the neatest thing ever especially since you have an original engine in it. That was truly awesome. Thank you so much for the ride. Oh and nice shifter. Lol
Thank You Elaine, yes it's a period correct engine, not sure if it's original or not but it is a flat head 4 cylinder
That is cool. I'm trying to figure out what to do for my sons shifter. U just gave me an idea cause he's national guard and works with weapons and ammo
Thank You Punky...turn them fast as you can,
Just the kind of road that car was made for. Love it. Thanks for the ride Doug.
You bet Thank You Moe
very cool dougy . love the car man what a beautiful piece of history . wish you would have shown more of it . now i like ya even more i would have took you for more of a sports car guy . you should do a video showing that car off buddy .
Thank You Dark, Actually American Muscle is more my style but I could not pass this one up when it was offered to me.
Someone get this man a pair of nail clippers
Thank You
some people use their fingernails for the multi purpose tool that they are
@@danhard8440 this is true, but you have to first work with your hand to know it.
@@PohlBarnProductions i dont even think i could count all the different things i have used my finger nails for from cleaning threads on bolts to cutting tape on boxes to opening them lol
@@danhard8440 I get this all the time from people and it doesn't bother me. I like to tell them booger hooks, or when they say why not make nail clipper I say it's easier to make a ball gag ! lol
That's awesome the shifter knob and your truck thanks for the ride along. You've got beautiful property Well done Doug
Thank You Rich Glad you enjoyed it
Your such a goober and mean that in the best way possible! Thanks for the drive along. I was busting up with how you were having a genuine conversation with us the whole time
Thank You, I am glad you say that, I try to do just that when I talk to the camera like you are there with me,
Ah yes, the SHIFTER will be the conversation starter.
Thank You, that's if we ever get ungrounded so I can take it out for other to see and talk about !
you make nice things....how about making a set of nail clippers to take care of those vampire fingernails...geez louise
Thank You
America needs more men like this god bless to you and your family
Thank You Jonny
Pretty shifter, I really appreciate the red, white and blue. The ride was great, Doug. I felt like I was in a prohibition movie, trying to get away from the coppers out on a dirt road. Thank you.
Thank You Kris ! LOL
".45 ACP. Because shooting twice is just silly."
Of course, now I want to see the outside of the car. ;)
Thank You Derek, this should get you there. instagram.com/p/B0a8koTAWFK/
@@PohlBarnProductions Nice! Sweet old car...
Loved the ride along. Haven't seen that many moves to start a vehicle since I was a kid in the 70's. My grandparents had an old pickup that had a bunch of steps to start it. Loved that old thing. Wish I had been the one to inherit it. Loved the knob too. Do you need shells? I might can get you sizes you don't have.
Thank You J'Lyssa, no I am good with casings, we do shoot regularly here. lol, all those moves and she starts better than any new car out there and she is 91 years old !
@@PohlBarnProductions not gunna lie I want that car
We recently bought a couple of old farm trucks for our daughters. Now you’ve got me wanting cool shift knobs for them. Cool knob and even cooler car! We need to see more! 😊
Thank You Jennifer,, there are cools shift knobs everywhere for old cars and trucks
This is a great gift idea for some my friends with older manual shifts. And a great gag gift for some of my liberal friends. Thanks for the ride along in that beautiful Ford.
Thank you Jeffrey
"How much patriotic are you?"
"My car is made out of bullet shells"
Thank You LOL YES !!!
I only missed a "The Waltons"-Horn at the End... :-)
Thank You
The shift knob looks great, it looks awesome in your car, and the car is BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you Thank you CArol
God Damned 1929 Model A. Awesome. I love how the project came out. Watching you, Kim, Rod and Nick, I'm giving serious consideration to getting a setup to start turning. You all come up with great projects.
Thank You Christian, yeah that Nick guy has cost me a lot of money. LOL
Anything Ammo is good... excellent idea and appears to be excellent craftsmanship. Art In turning...
Thank you John
OMG! WHAT A COOOL CAR! Thanks for the ride - that made my entire week!
And - the gear shift knob looks FAB in there!
❤❤❤
Thank You, Glad you enjoyed it!
You're in a great business for hunters to buy custom shift knobs for our trucks or trackers. I'd buy one for every vehicle I own and as gifts! Great stuff man!! Cool video..
Thank You
Very cool. I had a 1932 Ford Model B pick-up truck way back in the late '50 early '60's. Drove it to high school. Straight four like yours. But '32 was the first year Ford used a fuel pump instead of gravity feed. Fuel tank was under the seat. Can you imagine that today.....? Wish I still had it. Just subbed.
1st off 32 is a prized machine to find and is almost worth it's weight in gold. Thank you
Just a tip for those who want to know. In part painting, the rubber plugs are good when you can see both sides. The foam earplugs work amazing for things like this.
Great tip! Thank You Martin
The shifter knob is cool - that car is a work of art. Beautiful!
Thank You
Love the gear shift knob. What a little beauty. I love anything patriotic but didn't think these colors would show up so much because of the shells. Wow, I was way off. Gorgeous.
Thank You Nena, I also thought I should have gone a tad brighter with the colors but it still turned out good.
I gave you a thumbs up because all those casing are what I used to shoot in target practice and the auto gets a thumps up too.
Thank You Thank You Bob
Mark of a professional is the ability to fix errors and make the finished result look perfect.
Thank You
Nice ride Doug, going down the road brings back memories of living in Michigan in my younger days. 👍🇺🇸
Thank You Cortland Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Thank You Doug
This knob is a beautiful piece of jewelery!
Thank you Lucille
WOW!!! Awesome !! Kids and I loved the ride ! L & N were having a good time! They said Thank you for taking us along :)
Thank You Kim Glad you all enjoyed it, Hi Ya L & N
The technology of the early 20th century is amazing.
They did so much with very little.
The model A Ford was a new technology for the masses.
Owning a car was a luxury.
Like Laptop computers in the early 1990’s.
Thank You Ian, yeah I had to unlearn to work on this car, everything is so simple.
What an awesome project! You are very talented. Anyone who didn't like the way this turned out, and gave you a thumbs down, I challenge them to make something better and show you how it's done. I wouldn't hold my breathe though, because you sir, are an artist...
Thank you so much Rolo! I do not worry about the thumbs down
Thanks for taking us for a ride!
Thank you
Gorgeous shifter knob, stunning car and amazing scenery. I loved how the knob turned out and I super enjoyed the ride in your lovely Model A Ford. Thank you for the wee trip.
Thank You Annette Glad you enjoyed it!
WHOA! Amazing job never have seen a shift knob like that before! Bonnie and Clyde should have had it in their car! Super job
Thank You Robert, Clyde only stole V8's, that's why they were so hard to catch
I liked and shared your video.
I just sold my pressure pot to my buddy Rob for $5.00 he gave me $10.00 and acquired two vacuum pumps from Joe for nothing.
So I realized a net gain of $150.00. He needed it to stabilize tree bark for knife scales. I thought it was a nifty idea.
Thank you Thank you Peter, that does sound like a good Idea
Bro. I really loved the shift knob and am totally jealous of that SWEET ride! Thanks for taking me along!!! Brought back some great memories!
Thank You Woody Glad you enjoyed!
Really cool idea for a shifter knob! And it was fun going along for the ride! 💜
Thank you Tracey Glad you liked it!!
I really enjoy your channel. I am the Cheif Mistake Making Messer! So as a beginner, I find your video’s inspiring, permission giving, and inspiring! You make mistakes and laugh!!! That helps me to relax and know that I am ok making mistakes. I also enjoy your creativity- wow you are good!!!
Thank You Larry You are so welcome! if you can not laugh at yourself what fun is it !
Great looking car. James Bond style....Shaken, not stirred. Thanks for the video.
Thank You Thank You
Very Bonnie and Clyde like! I like the shift knob. Cool idea.
Thank You Bob
That gear shift knob is awesome ,you my friend are very cool.
Thank You Thank You Sydney
I've ridden in a lot of old farm vehicles, but never have I been in a Model A! This was fantastic!
Thank You Matthew
Outstanding work. Turned out great. Love the Model A! Absolutely beautiful
Thank you very much Devin!
Great job on the shifter knob and what a fabulous car to showcase it!
Thanks for the ride-a-long too!
Thank You Dom, Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the ride along Doug great work on the shiftier knob.
Thank you Thank you
Smoooooooth ride!🥰 This is great! I have the shifter knob off my dad’s 1st car (a ‘39 Ford). It’s a skull, & I’ve hung it in every car I’ve owned. G’job!
Very cool! my dad has a 47 Ford also, his has a flat head V8 in it.
Awesome very cool and thanks for showing your old vehicle
Thank You Donald No problem 👍
Absolutely wonderful to have a ride in your beautiful car, i loved it, thankyou
Thank You Pamela Glad you enjoyed it
Sir you are a magician, thanks for sharing your craft.Cheers from Australia
So nice of you, Thank You Scarto
Great piece of turning - very creative! Would love to see a longer video all about that car; it looks like you’ve spent many an hour bringing it up to pristine appearance.
Thank You , lol it was dusty from sitting in the barn, dirt roads do not help with the dust I tell ya.
Dude. Someone’s always gonna point out how it could’ve been done better. Ignore them. You did great. Thank you for sharing.
I appreciate that! Thank You
That is awesome a old model A ford with a 2nd amendment shifter that is truly and complete American rite there thanks for sharing car and shifter look awesome
You bet ! Thank you for watching Michael
Many a great plan has had " a wrench thrown in it", because the wife is home.😁 Very cool project.
Thank You Jeff, Yes it has
Thanks for the ride Doug! Nice knob.
You bet Andy Thanks for watching
Came for shifter and was shocked by how it turned out, but then you pulled Ford is just a beauty. Love the car and love the fact its still going after all these years, props to you sir for taking care of it(not sure how long you had it yourself)
Thank You Momo, 4 years I think I have had it
This is one of the coolest things every made!
yes it is,
That turned out awesome. When you said Ford I was looking forward to seeing a Mustang sitting there. But to see this classic is awesome thanks for the ride
Thank You Phillip, I use to have a Mustang, 11.70's in the Quarter @ 125mph, not really streetable, 89 LX
The Pohl Barn Productions love my Mustangs
That’s very cool and thank you for taking us on a ride
Thank You Joe, Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the ride! I also drive a stick, although mine is a newer model, but I remember my mom driving under viaducts in Michigan, and she would shove the clutch in and floor it so she could get that loud, throaty roar. She just loved the noise. If you ever saw a little red Triumph and a little red MGB riding together down the roads, it was most likely my parents mock-racing each other. They had such fun in those cars. I think your shifter knob is gorgeous.
That's Awesome Thanks for sharing Martha !
Somehow this also turned out to be an amazing project. Whow man, i really love your Ford. Thank you for the ride and sharing the video Doug. I loved it.
Thank you Glad you enjoyed it!
This is awesome! Quite a conversation piece for in your car and it looks amazing. Thanks for taking us for a spin! That was fun! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you Joyce Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude that is the coolest thing I have ever seen on RUclips and I have watched 1000's of video's. I have no clue on how to use a lathe, but now I want to learn really bad that is just awesome.
Wow, Thank You Eric!
Damn near word for word what I was going to comment 😂
@@scottgoldfarb95 Thank you Scott
Doug killer car ride in your Model A...thank you. The shifter looks great. The first shifter knob was also great looking.
Thank You Steve
I thought you were going to block it off at red white and blue. And yes, I am seeing it from my house!
Nice. I like it.
Thank You Boyd
This was awesome!
And thanks for the ride in your ride!
Best wishes,
Steve
Thank You Steve, Glad you enjoyed it!
My very first ride in a Model A. Whoot! Thanks for the road trip. Love the shifter knob.
Thank You Gail
Love the ride you took us on. Reminds me of the dirt roads in PA where I grew up. Thanks for bringing up good memories. I need to get back there and empty some brass of my own! LOL
Thank You Glad you enjoyed it
Came for shifter, stayed for the ride, subscribed because you took a 29 across the lawn to get on the dirt road and grabbed gears 👌🏻
Thanks for coming and Welcome Aboard
Oh Doug that was totally awesome! You make such beautiful things! Best part is the ride in that fantastic car! My dad would have loved it. He always wanted a Model A. Need one of these to give my son for his 2018 Camaro! Thanks again for a great video!
Thank You Jane
