  • In this brief AddictionMindset video Dr. Frank discusses one of the worst side effects of nicotine addiction that people who want to quit vaping or quit smoking cigarettes will experience. The worst side effect of vaping or quitting smoking cold turkey has little to do the physical nicotine withdrawals or psychological nicotine withdrawal symptoms. The worst side effect of vaping has everything to do with the subconscious. If you are ready to break free of your nicotine addiction to vaping once and for all without the use of nicotine replacement therapy or NRT Addiction Mindset recovery coaching is for you! Vaping disposable vapes and smoking cigarettes has much more to do with psychological than the physical impact of nicotine addiction. Arguably, the practice of not following through with goals, is what leads people to addiction in the first place. I hear you out with your experience. However in mine, I was able to instill higher confidence of following through with my words of other goals, before quitting my addictions. And this confidence helped me follow through. Maybe people just need to gain the right amount of confidence back before they can commit.

I began using electronic cigarettes during my high school years. Currently, at the age of 21, I have devoted six years of my life to this habit. For a while, I had seriously contemplated putting an end to this addiction, but the process proved to be particularly challenging. Thanks to your videos, I can now confidently say that I have managed to stay nicotine-free for five days. Although I am still grappling with the side effects of quitting abruptly, each passing day brings me a growing sense of well-being. I absolutely love this candid conversation about "addiction" the treadmill effect of psychological sabotage is truly the worst "rabbit hole" of isolated despair. No matter the substance .... lying to oneself is the worst betrayal of all and is only amplified by projecting it out into the world..... self worth is diminished if not destroyed and the betrayal is complete. Recognizing this is the "key" .... It is empowering to know "You decide" .... thereby forestalling the cycle of evasion. Thank you so much❤

I quit vaping cold turkey on 29th August 2023. So now 9 days. I used to smoke cigarettes for 10 years, stopped that cold turkey 6 years ago and from that time on, I vaped 24/7. So it was about time, to get my full health, confidence and energy back 💪

@jdelaney4158 Thanks for asking man! yeah, I'm on day 19 now, and still no plans to go back 🤙 it gets waaaay easier after you pass the first 4-6 days because all the nicotine in your blood is gone then. After that, it's "only" the psychic, which will still try to get you back to the vape. One big advice to you: Just DONT buy a new vape today. Tell yourself every morning you wake up that you don't buy a vape today. Repeat it every day even when it gets super hard. You can do that, just don't stop trying!!

Today is day 24 and I actually had a mental craving the last 2 hours. I'm telling this to show, that it doesn't stop after like 24 days. BUT it feels way different and way easier to handle. Of course I didn't buy a vape and now that I ate, chilled a bit and calmed down, the cravings are gone. So just keep going. The cravings will reduce drastically, will get softer and you will start to get mantally more stable to handle them without having big problems. If I can stop vaping and quitting nicotine finally forever, everyone can do it as well 🙏

Yet, today- oct 4th- I couldn’t workout, I started crying in the middle of it so I ran to the sauna and idk why, I was just crying. Very true, got started becuase I quit smoking weed, stopped vaping for 5 months and for some reason picked it up again. Once I realized I was back into it I tried to tell myself I was going to stop, one day I bought another one. I felt horrible doing it and before the day was over I threw it away and its been weeks since that day. The cravings come but I know its getting easier. Finishing the vape is the biggest mistake because you will get disappointed when it runs out, therefore making you buy another one. Stop and toss it out while you still have it. That helped me immensley.

"Subconscious Rot" is pretty much the summary of how I've been feeling lately. Something good in my life could be happening, but my mind/ego will find a way to make it seem like everything just sucks.
I switched to vaping from smoking, black and milds. I know black and mild are horrible. Lately, though, I've been noticing some differences with vaping. Negative differences. Knowing that I should just stop vaping, scares my inner self. The fact that it scares my self, I truly know that this is something that I'm going to have to do.
I'm sick of this. I'm sick of hating myself. I'm not that bad of a person, I know I'm not. But something constantly tells me that I am.
But I'm also scared of the pain that I know it's going to give me.
    Wish me luck. 💜

There is a different psychological effect that I thought you were going to discuss. It has to do with feeling satisfied. If I drink alcohol, I absolutely want to smoke a cigarette; however, if I do that turns a switch in my mind where I am no longer satisfied. I just want more, more of whatever. It has something to do with the cigarette, or the nicotine, that is not there if don't smoke. If I am drunk, I will really really crave a cigarette, but once that cigarette is over that feeling comes back so quickly. My brain just says "more." If I didn't smoke the desire kind of flattens out. It's very much like a mosquito bite. A dull itch that goes away if you don't scratch it, very hard to ignore but possible versus scratching an itch that you know will only activate more itchiness. That is why I do think nicotine activates a part of the brain that says, "I am not satisfied, I want more." More of anything I think.

Well, adults used to say weed is a gateway drug but it's really alcohol. Alcohol reduces your inhibitions. Nicotine doesn't last long in your body so it leads you to want more faster. Tobacco is genetically engineered to be almost impossible to quit.

I don't think this is true. I think what's happening is that smokers are relieving the withdrawal effects when they smoke. So yeah they look more relaxed when they smoke because the withdrawal was coming on and they got their fix therefore they feel better now.
However from my own experience I can say that I'm now much less anxious in general as a non smoker than I was when I smoked (smoked for 11 yrs). 5 yrs clean now. How did I get clean? I became an inmate for 4 1/2 yrs haha.

I was able to quit vaping in June. I peaked at 24 mg then reduced it by a mg every couple of weeks until I got to zero. After a month on zero mg, I stopped. I picked a date, went on a trip to get out of my environment, and didn't pick it up again. I was able to do that mainly because I had quit habits before and had the right mindset to stop. I knew withdrawal was just psychological at that point and found the right distractions to focus on.
Honestly, just being in the mindset that I've quit habits before and saying I'm stopping on this date with a plan was all it took.

So, 48 hours without nicotine now. I had to use the nicotine patches and gum for 3 days though, as i was doing the 25mg snus daily before. Tried quitting cold turkey a few weeks before, but i had way too much nicotine in the system- massive brain fog and i was lethargic af.
Now that i lowered the tolerance, i only have slight brain fog but overall feeling okay. Not much craving either surprisingly.
I used shrooms to quit weed cold turkey and now nicotine too (0.4g of shrooms for 3 days the whole weekend, in 0.1-2g doses)
It made the weed actually disgusting for me, i never ever had a pleasant trip after microdosing shrooms, now same with nicotine.

The best way to beat the 'devil' is to not let him know your next move, you've already failed if you yourself know. this is how i ended up off harder opioids, i never said i was going to quit i just took it a day at a time and when i failed it was a lot easier to not fall back hard on the addictions bc there were no overwhelming worries about relapse with this approach. some people need more pressure but i personally wasnt ever the type who was falling out off my shit so that approach didnt work for me.

this popped up at the eprfect time. I'm currently 1 month no alcohol, nicotine or caffeine. (and any other drugs). I've been fairly productive but this past couple days I've hit this inactivity sorta wall, and it's this moment where the addiction is popping back into my head. And generally just feeling kinda low and lethargic. I think it's these feelings and moments that drives me to consume substances, like the reality is I could consume any substance right now and I'd have that temporary relief. It's fix this feeling im feeling right now (so it says). And it's SO easy, I could have a coffee, then pop to the shop and have a vape and maybe a pint at the pub and there we go - I'm on a substance wave and then hey, the alcohol will make me buy other harder drugs because WHY NOT?!
It's a chain reaction, and that reaction lasts anywhere between a couple days to a few months. I know that if I go for it it might be another few months until I get to this point again. So I guess this feeling right now is what I have to take action through, power thorugh and take action on all the things I've promised myself.
