@@shmeckle666 It's the fact that you just sit there watching as everything comes up 13.4m and such behind the place name. It's such a cold game, Frostpunk gives you names and faces to see while you decide on the ever harsher measures to drag humanity kicking and screaming into a new dawn while this just coldly reads off casualty reports not even bothering to give a name or a face to the faceless millions turned to shadows on a wall. If you want something to really show you the human cost of something like this look at the pictures from Hiroshima, see the shadows of people. Hell, one of them still makes we want to cry, children with a skipping rope left as nothing more than shadows because of how close they were.
I’m confused about the crying woman. Do you think she’s crying because she knows what’s coming, or because she was unfortunate enough to survive the blast, and now she has to look around at hell on earth and whatnot?
It would be because she knows what is coming. You hear the alarms, and then a rumble, which indicates that an ICBM has been launched. After this, you hear her crying. After the crying, the same noise that plays in the game when a nuclear bomb hits it's target is sounded. So he died in the blast.
The fact that people built a weapon that can create a explosion as hot as the sun itself is still mind boggling to me and extremely terrifying, makes you think what the human race is capable of and how much power we can have
I find it funny. Building a nuclear bomb is MUCH easier (still hard) than reliably and safely generate power. It's a dark gift. If used correctly, it could delay or even stop climate change, power the ever growing cities with clean energy, and supply mankind with as much power as it needs for a hundred years. But it has a terribly dark side, nuclear accidents, as rare as they are, bring unimaginable horrors on those that suffer it, and the same materials and technologies can be turned around very quickly into a weapon of huge proportions. The ability to turn matter into energy is a really dark gift.
I'm imagining you're in the control room and the sounds of people crying or other employees inside the nuclear bunker. And towards the end when you start hearing sounds of metal and chains I imagine that's the sound of the bunker quieting down and you're the only one left in the control room because all the other employees left the room
2:50 , I imagine the soldiers who open the doors of the government bunker 10 years after the fall of the bombs and who discover a world ravaged by bombs
DEFCON 5: FADE OUT. Lowest state of readiness. DEFCON 4: DOUBLE TAKE. Increased intelligence watch and strengthened security measures. DEFCON 3: ROUND HOUSE. Increase in force readiness above that required for normal readiness. DEFCON 2: FAST PACE. Next step to nuclear war. DEFCON 1: COCKED PISTOL. Nuclear war is imminent or has already begun.
When hearing the crying woman while nuclear war kept going on the simulator game. It made me feel uncomfortable and can imagine how horror the nuclear war could be.
I have always thought that the sound you hear like the woman crying or the coughing was from a control room. I think it's more terrifying this way because it shows that even when the world is about to end people are still working for a purpose, they're still there doing their job of destroying the world.
Part of me thinks the woman crying in the background is probably because she realizes she's about to watch everyone she knows and love either die horribly in the blast or slowly succumb to the effects of radiation while being totally powerless to stop it.
I remember the first time I played this, I was using the last of my Soviet Union submarine missiles on London when she started crying.....Which makes me vision myself at a central control computer dock and she's some desk clerk that has family that defected from the Soviet Union and were living London until I most likely turned her family into ash.....
Sometimes I need a little bit of existential terror in my life just to stop me from getting too comfortable. This does the trick every time. Edit: Well, it's now October 2022 and real life is providing enough Doomsday anxiety all on its own.
"They won't remember the world we had. The rivers and valleys. Trees covered in green leaves and every animal that walks beneath them. All of it will be removed form memory. In 1942, humanity discovered the potential of sustained nuclear fission as a nearly unlimited power source, which held the potential to truly make energy shortages a thing of the past. So, naturally, we looked at it and thought, "But what if I want to turn it into a bomb and throw it at someone?"
