ANOTHER GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEO!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Ron your educational videos are getting better and better. Your level of explanation to the DIYers are easy to digest and understand...also your teaching technique is easy for me to apply to my lawn problems. Glad I found you on RUclips.
Ron you have some great content. Keep up the amazing work! I am in Central Texas and have St Augustine in my front, and Palisades Zoysia in the backyard. Sprayed the 65 WDG on both. I’ve had amazing results using it 2 years now.
I used Prodiamine wdg 65 just sprayed it Sunday with the newly redesigned Ryobi Batt backpack sprayer, worked great, and a lovely rain washed it in for me today. Greencast alerted me via email that 5 day soil temp avg was 53 degrees I am in Eastern NC and we had some crazy warm early spring weather last week. I used the Prodiamine because it produced amazing results this winter on controlling the Poa Annua . Parsley Piert (Not even in the list of controlled weeds) and Henbit .. had a few Harry Bittercress come in which I took care of with Gordons Trimec but overall outstanding .. Really enjoy your channel .. keep up the great work !!
Very cool Chip. I've not seen a Ryobi in person as yet. Sounds like you had good timing to get your pre-emergent out right before rain. Nothing like free water right? 😎 Glad to hear that prodiamine did a good job controlling winter weeds for you. Thanks for watching the content. I appreciate the support.
If I’m being honest. Ron is the only lawn videos I watch twice. Maybe 3x 😆🤘🏼 The content is solid. The only person I can compare is to the LCN and I’m a proud LCN Subscriber 🤘🏼as I am Ron Henry 👊🏼
Just a few days ago I put down The Andersons Barricade granular. First time using this product and doing this myself. Looking forward to seeing how well it works.
It's a good product Chris. It should work well as long as applied at the correct rate. Are you doing a split application or did you do full rate in one setting?
@@RonHenry I did a full application but was wondering if I could also put down a liquid application as well in 2-3 weeks. Would this be overkill, or cause issues?
The granular pre-emergent Ron shows works to get an early slightly green growth. I have StAug grass in TX and my yard was greening up before the neighbors, plus before the rain we received a couple weeks ago.
Great video! My fall pre emergent was Dimension granular. My Winter /Spring pre emergent was Pennant Magnum. I like the Pennant Magnum because it stops sedges and Kylinga. Also the Pennant Magnum does not stop the stolons from tacking to the ground as is the case with most pre emergents.
It’s my second season using this combination. I have used Barricade as my fall pre emergent and Spring pre emergent in the past also. Here in Florida weeds never seem to take a break! My main problem was Sedges and the Pennant Magnum solved that problem.
Pretty big difference right? Not saying you should apply this product as a fertilizer, but if your lawn needs a dose of potassium, it obviously works pretty well! :-)
I’ll be completely honest. You’ve made some good content but nothing that was really stand-out IMO. Until now, that is. This is unique, and also really educational. Absolutely superior stuff. Just a great piece of work. I am now subscribed.
I appreciate it Andrew. I've been trying to improve the content from research to delivery. Still have a long way to go. Glad that it's improving enough to get you to trust me with a bit of your time. Thanks again for watching sir. I really appreciate the support. 👍😎
Great video Ron !! I’ve used liquid Prodiamine the past 2 years and have had great results. I am going to do a split app this year and I had decided to add a little more Potassium in my regime this year to get me through the summer. Trying to give the plant some strength to help with heat stress and fungus issues. Also going to have a monthly dose of Carbon ProG. Can’t wait to get started this year !!
Sounds like you've got a great plan Scott. You should get a great result with a split application. Carbon Pro G is awesome stuff. You should get a great result with it this summer. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Hey Ron, I’m using The Anderson’s Barricade DG granular Pre-emergent. It’s easier to spread on lawn and the DG is easily watered in after applying to the yard. I had real issues with my lawn last August and big box stores don’t have much in professional grade product for the average home owner. I used many products but it wasn’t until I started using The Anderson’s brand that I was able to save my lawn.
Bermuda NC, went with Granular in September 2020. Figured it would get that slow feed pre fall. Fall leaves and mulch would further assist micro growth/protection. Liquid Prodiamine February 2021 at 3 month rate. Figure I just want to break it up, rotate crop, throw the jab. Plus I don't really care about being first green on the block. Im in it for the duration.. would rather let grass green up according to natures terms. Figure when it's ready I'll hit with 10 10 10, based on my soil test in Dec. Additionally, by April, I can spot seed with Bermuda if need be. After danger of frost past, I'll turn up the Nitro and take another soil test. Just following your lead Sir!
Either product can work well for sure Jonathan. Because the results were unexpected, I wanted to share them. I guess one benefit of the granular is that in some cases, it can help with a greener lawn. Glad the video was helpful. 😎
Fairly new to the lawn club but this is my second year using bayer 3 in 1 advanced weed killer and preemergent. Active ingredient imdaziflam...same as specticle. My lawn is just under 5000 sq feet (Bermuda)... $24. Love your channel Ron 😍
Nice Ralph. Specticle is a great product so not surprised that you're getting great results with the 3 in 1.Sounds like it's also the perfect product given the size of your lawn. Most people don't want to have 5 years worth of herbicide laying around. Thanks for chiming in and watching the content. I appreciate the support. 😎👍
I went with Prodiamine 65 wdg Liquid. I bought my first backpack sprayer and calibrated for a slower walking pace to make sure I covered everything evenly. The whole process was super easy and fun. It was more fun than spreading granular and I looked like a grass genius to my neighbors as I did it. haha.
Hahaha. Very cool Chris. The backpack sprayer does give you a more "pro" look for sure. Once you get your walking pace down, it's a ton of fun because you know you're putting down the product correctly. At that point, just sit back and wait for the benefits of your results. 😎
I used Andersons Barricade Pre-Emergent about 2-3 weeks ago. It works great, and I have very little weeds in my yard (except for one stubborn POA spot)
Awesome content Ron. I’m using Gallery for two early applications, followed by split Pennant Magnum late(r) applications. Have centipede grass and had issues with Prodiamine root pruning my centipede grass. I need some bare spots to fill in, therefore do not want to use a heavy root pruner.
That is the advice I got, Gallery - Less root pruning on new stolons. It’s my first experiment with it and away from Prodiamine or Dithiopyr, we shall see. Pennant is mostly to target Doveweed, which has been a previous issue.
Just added Lesco's 0-0-7 w/ Prodiamine to my centipede yard here in Atlanta. First time ever treating this yard, hopefully I'll see good results in the near future.
Very nice J. Willis. Do you remember what rate you used? I know centipede is a bit more sensitive than Zoysia or Bermuda so wondered if you went a bit lower on the rate. Thanks for chiming in.
@@RonHenry I went with the recommended rate, and possibly a little heavier in some areas. The yard is really established and has never been treated, and the neighboring yard has a horrible weed problem. I’d rather over apply and be safe this year, and get the yard healthier. I also followed up with spot spraying image southern lawn weed killer. Any recommendations for a weed and feed or general feed for later this spring? Love the content you put out! Really helped me with my other Bermuda lawns.
Ron, I used Lesco Stonewall 13-0-7 Pre-Emergent 1/22, and coming back (today) with Dimension for the post-emergent component at a rate of about .60 ounces per 1000 sqft. I was going to spray the Dimension earlier, but we had that crazy snow/bitter cold in Oklahoma that put me behind!
Very cool Frederick. Between the January pre-emergent app and the Dimension you're applying now, there shouldn't be an issue with weeds at all. Is this the process you usually follow?
Cool Video Ron. I plan to use Jonathan Green Organic Corn Gluten in my yard as soon as the weather gets better. I can't use synthetic pre-emergents where I live, although local stores are still allowed to sell the stuff. I hope it works. I've learned that its a gradual effect (60% effective first year, 75% effective 2nd year, 80% 3rd year) and so on. I guess I'm in it for the long game. I'll keep you posted.
Oh nice Eliot. You definitely need to let me know how the corn gluten works for you. I've received a fair number of questions around organic pre-emergent and corn gluten keeps coming up. Will look forward to hearing your results. 👍😎
I used Spectracide. My reasoning is that is what you have recommended on your livestreams since I started following you. I plan to spray Prodiomine in the fall.
@@RonHenry I’m actually starting to see some slight green up too. I’m shocked given my last soil test but looking forward to improving things this year.
@@papamowslow196 well just think. If you’re still getting early green up despite less than great soil, imagine how it’ll be once you get it amended. 👍😎
I used granular Lesco pre-emergent about a week ago and of course I don’t see any changes. I chose granular over liquid because of some challenges with my back and it’s cheaper. Also, sprayed some weeds already growing with Image to help prepare for the Bermuda growth. Your tips definitely helped recover my lawn and I’m looking forward to an even better lawn this season.
Hi Ken. We applied this 2 weeks ago, and we've had a stretch of warm weather. I was surprised with the response the grass had. I'm happy to hear that the content has been helpful towards making your lawn better. let me know if I can help with anything else. 😎👍
Hello Ron, I sprayed Bayer Specticle on my Bermuda lawn and in two weeks it killed or killing my Poa and all broad leave weeds.I lived here 18 years and just scalped my lawn it is weed free and looking good. I got this idea from the LCN guy because I purchased MSM and negate but after reading the direction decided not to use because hard to mix for 7500 sqft. The Spectcle was easy to mix and the LCN said spread it and forget it. Great results!
Here in Southern California. I definitely already applied my first round of pre-emergent. I went with granular Dithiopyr. I went with Dithiopyr because my main concern is Poa Annua (I have tall fescue) and Dithiopyr has pre & post suppression abilities on Poa Annua.
@@RonHenry Since I have to apply Pre-Emergent much earlier than other folks I try and stretch out my applications. Most people do their second app after 45 days. I stretch mine out and reapply in 60 days. I will only apply sooner if I happen to see weeds germinating.
@@RonHenry Controlling weeds in Southern California is pretty tricky since we don't have a "real" winter in the valley. Come winter our soil temps will hover between 45 to 55 so weeds can germinate. Most folks use the snow as a pre-emergent. The frozen soils wont allow weeds to germinate. Whereas we don't have that so one fall application won't cover you.
Nice video! I wait till the soil temp is about 80F to 90F. Im using a combination of prodiamine granules and dithiopyr liquid preEms 1 wk apart, then put some 10-10-10, humichar 15 days after and let the lawn rest for 90days. Then seeding it then add PGF complete and superjuice. As much as possible i want to put all negatives at the beginning so that i dont need to put any negatives anymore when the grass is aggressively growing beginning july.
Hmm. Hi Meek Stranger. Ideally you want to get your pre-emergent down before soil temps cross 55F. 80 - 90F is a bit on the late side. Thanks for sharing your process.
Good video. Well done. Tks!! This year I used pre-emergent granules (0-0-7) instead of liquid because they are easier for me to work with and spread. The star chemical was dithiopyre from Lowes (maybe Home Depot). I find the liquid stuff intimidating. Also, I picked the 007 from watching multiple youtube videos this year. It's a very popular formula.
Thanks Bermuda Phil. I really appreciate it man. Trying to make each video just a little bit better than the last. Thanks for watching. I appreciate the support.😎👍
Interesting results. Yeah I chose Prodiamine 65wgd. I honestly got it because of all the hype around it. Looking forward to putting it down this weekend. Last year I threw down barricade, image, and 2-4D and that worked amazing, so I am very interested in how well the Prodiamine along with image will work. Great video, Ron. Thanks!
Heya Meister. Prodiamine 65WDG is an excellent product. I would still apply it. The results from this video (greener grass) are due to the potash in the granular and the soil results showing that it needed it. I'm sure you probably already have a fertilizer stack you're going to use which will produce similar or better results. Thanks for watching sir. I appreciate the support.
Both... Liquid Dimension around the areas there is edging or where I need to be precise... Property line between me and neighbor that doesn't treat or mow his yard, sidewalks, edging, flower bed edges, driveway etc. Etc also in the border areas where I plan to over seed to thicken up this coming year leaving that area open and safe for seed...Where I can broadcast main parts of the front and backyard I used Anderson .48% Barricade.....
Very cool Brad H. Is there a clear line as far as weed pressure along the dividing line between you and your neighbor? Thanks for letting me know what you're using for pre-emergent. Appreciate you watching the content.
@@RonHenry I've been in the home for roughly 2 years this summer.. I'm down hill from my neighbor who isn't a "yard" person..Great neighbor just not a yard person which is perfectly fine... They mow maybe 1 time ever 2 weeks and don't treat for weeds.... 1st summer (Moved into the house in June) I used post emergent to try and spot treat and get the process started on the now established "domination" line that is now absurdly established....That fall my 1st full pre-emergent then last year was my 1st full year of getting things aligned... .I'm at a point now that I can start really focusing in on making it mine instead of hitting the big problem areas.... leveling, working in new grass seed, thicken the thinner spots, Airriation, reel mowing etc. etc..... Front yard is drive by noticable nice backyard is the focus area this year while fine tuning the front
Always excellent content Ron! North AL, Split app method. Granular prodiamine went down the 1st weekend of Feb. We have dry weather and mid-70s coming into the 10-day forecast so planning Liquid Dithiopyr, Triple 13 to preload the soil, and Pro-G to go down this weekend after a pre-scalp. Feels like we may have an early spring this year. 😎
Very cool Scott. Looks like you've got your program all worked out. You shouldn't have any issues with weeds in the spring and summer for sure. :-) I'm hoping for an early spring. Ready to get back out into the lawn. How long have you been using Pro-G?
Heya salmamjad. The turfpark has been top dressed since then so can't really show the difference easily anymore. Before the top dressing, the side that got the granular pre-emergent continued to green up faster than the other side.
I used granular dithiopyr, for several reasons. One it was cheaper per 1000 for me because I caught some for under $7 for a 50lb bag. I also waited until soil temps had gotten into the mid 50’s and it offers post emergent control, all be it a small amount.
I applied Prowl H20 (Pendimethalin) this past Sat (Oklahoma). I have a 2.5 gallon container of it that I've been using for approx. 8-10 years now. Maybe I'll switch to Prodiamine when I run out of Prowl. I also have 2 4-D Amine, MSMA Target 6+, and Glyphosate all 2.5 gallons. 1 gallon of pond colorant from tractor supply ($40/gallon) for seeing where I've sprayed. 2-3 ozs per 4 gallons in a 4 gallon backpack sprayer.
I’m in transition zone cool season and will put split app granular down next week and then 30-45 days later do liquid other half app down gonna try it this way see what happens. Experimenting this year hoping for a better result than last when I only sprayed and my skills are not perfect yet
Another great video sir...I used lessco granular earlier fall ..now I just put down simazine 4L because it stays in the soil much longer does a great job
@@fairwaybermudalawn Nice. If it's easy to come by that's a huge bonus. I'm glad I asked the question in the video. Really interesting to learn what you guys are using for your weed control.
@@fairwaybermudalawn I use simazine 4L in October and either Lesco Pre M or simazine in the spring split application. Iam here close to Oklahoma city Oklahoma. Never used Simazine in the spring time!
Very informative vid, I love the soil amendment explanations as they relate to the product used! No pre-emergent for me this season, I'm doing a full burn/reno/level on the front and seeding some Arden15.
Nice Alexander. Nothing wrong with that. I have t applied any pre-emergent either. I really want to do everything I can to get a good result with the Arden 15 project.
@@RonHenry I'll have to deal with some weeds for a few months while it establishes, but such is the process. Unless you know of any magic pre-e that will work with bermuda seed ;)
Both!!! I put down a granular 007 one week, and followed it up with Prodiamine 65W (mixed with Image) the next.I was hoping to get a head start on the crabgrass and completely knock out the Poa.
Cool deal Mike. Did you back down the rate on the Prodiamine 65 wince you already applied the granular? 😎 Image will work against the Poa. It's just a slow process 3 - 5 weeks. It's works but just takes a while. Thanks for chiming in sir.
Cool content! Interesting difference between the two. I am using Dithiopyr bc between Sunniland and Lesco at my Lowes, Sunniland was half price on sale. Can't pass that up!
Did gran. 0-0-7 as well, then added a 9-0-2 organic fert 1wk later for a 9-0-9. Would say I got a steady green from it. Thinking about using bayer 3in1 since it contains indaziflam/specticle.
@@RonHenry Was thinking Apr 15th, 2 months after my prodiamine app. also thinking of not applying any under my oak trees since I think thats where the grass roots need to be strongest. Also, thanks for the compliment, I'm sorta living on the edge with my grass. Have only been doing this for 1.5yrs so still a beginner.
had a soil test done about a month ago and I was lacking all across the board as well, macro/micro.. so I put down lesco 007 preM last week, and that little bit of potash perked my tttf up.!
Very nice The Unknown Civic. Fertilizing based on soil test is a really good idea. You'll get much better results if you apply products based on data. Let me know if I can help with anything. Thanks for sharing the products you're using.
Good...no...excellent video Ron!! So I put down Scotts Crabgrass and Grassy Weed preventer with Pendimethalin about a week ago. One, because that's what I had in my garage, but 2 because it targets Annual Poa...at least thats what they say. I just ordered a soil test from UGA so I'm eager to see what they results will be. I have a bag of Sunniland 007...after watching this I may throw that down tomorrow!!
Thanks williestylz72. Definitely let me know how the Scotts Crabgrass and Weed preventer does for you. I'd probably wait on applying the Sunniland 007 if you've already applied a pre-emergent. Herbicides definitely something you'd want to overdo. Thanks for chiming in and sharing what you're using. It sounds like you got your pre-emergent out before temps get warm so you should get a good result.
Forgot to say I'm using Sunniland products for the 2nd year. I put it down right before Valentine's Day. I learned about them from Bermuda grass central. He turned me on to you last week and now I'm a fan.
BYD is a good guy. Definitely does a lot for the DIY community. A lot of the fertilizers that Allyn likes are made by Sunniland. Always good to support companies that support DIY. Thanks so much for watching Jonathan. I appreciate it.
I used liquid prodiamine at .55oz per gallon. Full rate worked well last year (.83oz) to suppress weeds but green-up was slow. I mixed 2-4-d in that concoction as well.
@@RonHenry This is the first time. Weeds were not as much of a problem last growing season. I’ll see how it goes. Looking to get a reel mower this year as well.
Very cool Robert. Glad you found it useful. Image should work against the Poa. Just takes a while. Thanks for watching the content. I appreciate the support.
Used granular Barricade from The Andersons, i do a split app. Granular first then in 3 weeks or so ill use a liquid hose end spray. Had good results last year.
I used Bayer 3 in 1. It did ok in the fall except around the edges, that was probably because I applied it too light there. I did it because it was $6 a bag and I bought a bunch.
But outside of the edges, it kept the weeds away Richard? If so, that's not bad for a $6 product that was probably pretty easy to get your hands on. Cool stuff.
Ron I used Spectical Flo which has a 120 useful life. So have 2 months to go. Second part what is the HOC of the Zeion zoysia that your treating. I told it likes it down low.
Cool deal Robert. I find that as long as you get a pre-emergent down and regularly mow your grass at the correct height, there's a lot less issues with weeds. For Zoysia and Bermuda, keeping it low does a lot to keep weed away. Specticle Flo is a great pre-emergent. Pricey, but you get what you pay for right?
I did liquid Prodiamine with some Image Nutsedge killer as a rider about 3 weeks ago. First time using liquid, did not get any greenining but it was a bit easier to apply more evenly than the granular, and cheaper.
Very cool Dean. Image does work but requires a bit patience. It takes 3 - 5 weeks to work. I totally agree with you on the price of granular vs. liquid. Definitely can save money using the liquid as long as you're fine with the extra work involved in mixing.
I used liquid prodiamine in a backpack sprayer, and then put down a 7 0 20 Stress Blend from Yard Mastery. My Texas Bermuda took a big hit from the deep freeze and snow. Starting to see a bit of green.
Very cool John. I imagine all the snow is gone at this point though right? As long as this warming trend continues, you should be seeing a lot more green in a few weeks.
Nice comparison video Ron. Last year I used Barricade DG Pro, but this year I decided to try Specticle G granular because of its lower application rate and broad spectrum of weed control. I hope to get better and longer results. Have you ever used Specticle G Granular?
Thanks for chiming in Gibsonlr1. I’ve not used Specticle G; just the Flo version. The G is probably easier to apply for home use. Thanks for watching the content. Appreciate the support.
Hi Steve. Yes I collect samples and send them out. This is the kit I use: golfcourselawn.store/products/mysoil-starter-pack In the description, you'll also see a video on how to use it. Appreciate you watching.
Was not expecting the 7% potash to make a difference! But it did. The snow is finally melting and I'm seeing grass for the 1st time since Chirstmas. It'll be go time in about a month where I'm at
You and me both. Reel Rollers sent me a picture of what was happening and my first thought was "I have to tell everyone about this." It just goes to show how the grass can respond quickly to nutrients when it's lacking them. So glad we did the soil test at the same time as applying the pre-emergent. Thanks for chiming in Andy.
No problem! Oh for my pre-m last year I used the Scott's Halts (blue bag from home depot). They ususally bring out like 20 pallets not kidding, line it up right as your walking in so I tried it last year and it worked super well! Probably going to try Prodiamine this season
I’m just starting to take of my lawn starting this season after 6 years. I know nothing. My neighbor said to spray image on my whole lawn, I sprayed Image on my whole lawn. Now what to do next?
Hi Moreland Capital Group. By any chance, do you know what type of grass you have ? When it come to getting a good looking regular mowing is really important. Do you already have a lawn mower? To get a better idea of where you’re starting, can you email me pictures of your lawn to ron@golfcourselawn.com please?
Absolutely I’ll send you pics! Awesome thank!! It’s a mess. I have little purple flowers, yellow flowers and everything else growing in my lawn. I’m in Georgia, I have Bermuda grass, and yes I do have a lawn mower.
Not quite Tom. Depends on if your soil has a potassium deficiency. Between TurfPlex, the Carbon Kit and Humic Max, your lawn will get plenty of monthly potassium. TurfPlex: golfcourselawn.store/products/turfplex-iv-20-2-3-with-seaxtra CarbonKit: golfcourselawn.store/products/golf-course-lawn-carbon-kit HumicMax: golfcourselawn.store/products/country-club-16-0-8-humic-max-and-mesa%C2%AE-by-lebanonturf-sgn-150 Thanks for watching sir.
I don’t know about a new mower. The Reel Works are pretty cool to hang with. Plus it’s always not everyday you get to see 3 types of warm season grass in the same space. 😎
You're right about that Richard. Don't want to anger the Greensmaster. 😂 I'm doing ok. Ready for this season to get started. Everything going ok with you and yours?
Great point John. Both sides of the line are TifTuf though. What I was trying to show is how just a little bit of potash made a pretty big difference in green up for the Bermuda. More about the effects of the potash and support soil test data vs. the actual grass type. 😎
Great video and info....I am in GA too and at what point would you consider to stop doing any blanket spraying for weeds as we enter green-up transition? Is up to March 31st pretty safe in the ATL, GA area so you don't delay/stunt green up?
Hi Brian. Unless you have something like a poa infestation throughout your entire lawn, I wouldn't blanket spray. Outside of pre-emergent, spot spraying is a better option for eliminating weeds. I like to minimize the amount of herbicide I put on my lawn. If do want to blanket spray, I'd be more prone to do that when the Bermuda is dormant so you minimize the hit to it. Mine is already starting to green up, so blanket spraying with a post emergent would be out for me at this point. Mid to the end of March is probably a good rule to follow.
I’ve been using the liquid however saw another RUclipsr state that the liquid doesn’t penetrate into the soil but rather is held up the dormant Bermuda leaf. Did you experience any difference in the amount of unwanted weeds between the two study groups? Thank you.
Not at all Mark. Most lawns around here don't get scalped and have liquid pre-emergent applied to them and they're very much weed free. Liquids are used much more frequently than granular when it comes to pre-emergent.
The reason I ask, is that our community of 87 acres and 154 bldgs. is switching Landscape companies who want to use a granular fertilizer, three times a year. No one has done a soil sample and as far as I know there has been no aeration. The HOA is going into this blind, w/o any research. They believe the irrigation system is to blame. While the system is over 40 yrs. old, we just spent $ 300,000 to have it updated. Obviously, someone made a lot of money. We live in Florida, and this is one of our biggest expense budgets. My suggestion was to start planning for xeriscape landscaping. We use our lakes to irrigate the grass, and it is down at least 4ft. This is the beginning of the rainy season, however, as we are not a golf course, and don't want to spend any more monies; xeriscape, I believe is a viable alternative. If climate change is occurring, this would help modify the situation now and in the future. I'm not a believer in just spreading granular fertilizer because it is cheaper. This allows a landscape company to randomly spread 3 times a year and say they are doing their job. Anyway, I appreciate and feedback or suggestions.
No problem at all Tom. Given the budgetary constraints, xeriscape might be the way to go. Just depends on how high a price your community puts on real grass and ornamentals vs synthetic. Appreciate you chiming in.
I agree about the more even coverage Jose A. For a lot of people granular is easier to get out and apply. You should get good results doing the split application.
@@billy2bob63 I'm sure it's hectic but it sounds like you enjoy doing it. Besides, it's always nice to put some hardware to work while helping your neighbor out right? :-)
@@RonHenry By spraying there yards it helps keep.my chemicals fresher since I buy them in 2.5 gallon jugs. They also pay me for what the chemicals cost and a little bit more for my gas and time. Best three looking yards in my area! Lol Your correct about enjoying doing it but getting the perfect time to spray is a challenge!
Next year Jarrod? There's so much 2021 left though. 😎 Congrats on applying Prodiamine WDG. It can be intimidating the first time you have to mix your own pre-emergent.
At least you got it down leatkittenswspicy Mustard. That's the important thing. Doesn't matter if you used liquid or granular. Eventually you might get more comfortable to where you'll consider giving liquid a try.
I hear you there Really BadAim. You do tend to get more even coverage with the liquid vs. the granular. Thanks for chiming in. Dimension is a great product.
I have toyed with using liquid, but a 2 gallon pump sprayer for 6K sqft is a lot of back and forth...I realize granular is more expensive in the long run, spreader is just so much easier to use...
I agree that granular is easier and more convenient Bubba. When it comes to pre-emergent, whichever one you'll actually apply is best. While you'll likely save money using liquid, it doesn't matter if it's too much of a hassle to get out there and get it done. Thanks for watching Bubba.

Thanks so much Neill. That’s the best compliment I can be paid. Glad that you’re getting good results. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Great comparison Ron

Very nice Soul Sketch. Glad to know it wasn't just this isolated case for TifTuf. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
Penant Magnum... Very nice Blitz Kreegy. Have you been using that combination for a while now?
It’s my second season using this combination. I have used Barricade as my fall pre emergent and Spring pre emergent in the past also. Here in Florida weeds never seem to take a break! My main problem was Sedges and the Pennant Magnum solved that problem.
@@blitzkreegy4232 very cool Blitz. Thanks for sharing some details around your program.
Wow! Huge difference!
Pretty big difference right? Not saying you should apply this product as a fertilizer, but if your lawn needs a dose of potassium, it obviously works pretty well! :-)
wish I knew more, but thanks for getting me started.
No problem at all Tom. Happy to help out.
Used Prodiamine for the first time this weekend. Thanks for the info a nd keep up the good work!

I’ll be completely honest. You’ve made some good content but nothing that was really stand-out IMO. Until now, that is. This is unique, and also really educational. Absolutely superior stuff. Just a great piece of work. I am now subscribed.

@@jamzach4 Thank you for watching sir. I appreciate the support.
Very cool JJ. Glad to hear you found a product that works. If it's doing what you like, stick with it I say. 😎
Sounds like you have a plan TOMCAT631. So granular in the fall and liquid this spring. Thanks for chiming in.
So I feel really good about using granular preemergent in my yard. It validates me using it constantly and at the right time last year. Good job Ron!
Either product can work well for sure Jonathan. Because the results were unexpected, I wanted to share them. I guess one benefit of the granular is that in some cases, it can help with a greener lawn. Glad the video was helpful. 😎
Very cool results! 👍
Definitely not what you think of when it comes to pre-emergent right?
Great video ! Not too long and to the point. Thanks for the great content and sharing your knowledge !!
No problem at all FerrariDan. Happy the video was useful. Now with a name like FerrariDan, are you driving a Ferrari? 😎
I used Andersons Barricade Pre-Emergent about 2-3 weeks ago. It works great, and I have very little weeds in my yard (except for one stubborn POA spot)
Hi Will. Does a lot of water settle or run past the area where the poa grows?
@@RonHenry yep. It’s near a low spot in my yard near my driveway.
Very cool Brandon. There's 2 pre-emergent names you don't hear too often. I'm guessing the Gallery plays nicely with your centipede lawn?
That is the advice I got, Gallery - Less root pruning on new stolons. It’s my first experiment with it and away from Prodiamine or Dithiopyr, we shall see. Pennant is mostly to target Doveweed, which has been a previous issue.
Very cool Brandon. You’ll have to let me know how the Gallery does. It’s not a pre-emergent you hear of too often.
Always solid content! Very interesting results my friend.
Thanks Brett! I really appreciate it. It was a fun one to make.
Wow, great update.
Thanks so much GirLzLawn. Thanks for watching. 👍😎
Good choice Papa Mows Low. It’s a great product. I actually applied some to my other neighbor’s lawn this morning. (Not Alex).

Great tip Ronny. Specticle is a great pre-emergent. Not surprised you’re getting good results with it. Thanks for chiming in.
Here in Southern California. I definitely already applied my first round of pre-emergent. I went with granular Dithiopyr. I went with Dithiopyr because my main concern is Poa Annua (I have tall fescue) and Dithiopyr has pre & post suppression abilities on Poa Annua.
Very cool GREEN UP. Dithiopyr is a great pre-emergent that isn't harsh on the lawn. When will you do your second round?
@@RonHenry yeah.. let me try that one too. Learning never ends. Thanks much bro!
We’re all learning. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Good video. Well done.
Thanks LeeRoy. I appreciate you watching.

Hi Ron, any update on this experiment?
Heya salmamjad. The turfpark has been top dressed since then so can't really show the difference easily anymore. Before the top dressing, the side that got the granular pre-emergent continued to green up faster than the other side.
I used granular dithiopyr, for several reasons. One it was cheaper per 1000 for me because I caught some for under $7 for a 50lb bag. I also waited until soil temps had gotten into the mid 50’s and it offers post emergent control, all be it a small amount.
Very nice Justin. Tough to beat $7 per bag. Dithiopyr is a great choice; especially at the price you got it for. 😎
Shocked it’s greening up already. Here in Texas that major freeze put a major damper on all plants.
In GA we had a couple days in the 70s and last week it was 50s and 60s for the most part. Hopefully the warm temps hold out.

Used granular Barricade from The Andersons, i do a split app. Granular first then in 3 weeks or so ill use a liquid hose end spray. Had good results last year.
Nice Tim. You do your second prodiamine app using a hose end sprayer?

Very cool John. I imagine all the snow is gone at this point though right? As long as this warming trend continues, you should be seeing a lot more green in a few weeks.
What would be the best pre-emergent and time to apply for burrweed (soliva) in southern Mississippi? Thanks
Ideally in February/March for Spring Summer coverage and September/October for Fall/Winter coverage.
Nice comparison video Ron. Last year I used Barricade DG Pro, but this year I decided to try Specticle G granular because of its lower application rate and broad spectrum of weed control. I hope to get better and longer results. Have you ever used Specticle G Granular?

So if we add 7% potassium to the liquid, would the results be the same?
I used The Anderson's .48% Baricade. I've great success 3 years in a row on 2 different properties.
Nice Cory. If it’s working, not reason to switch it up. 👍😎
What sprayer are you using these days? Upgraded from the Chapin?
Heya Zman! Long time sir. 😎 I’m using the Flowzone Typhoon 2 dual pressure. This one. amzn.to/30525A2
@@RonHenry thanks! I'm definitely not doing hose end this year. It has been awhile. Almost time itching to have the best lawn in the neighborhood!
Nice job Ron. Hanging out at Reel Rollers huh? Do I detect a new mower in the works? Just wondering!
I don’t know about a new mower. The Reel Works are pretty cool to hang with. Plus it’s always not everyday you get to see 3 types of warm season grass in the same space. 😎
@@RonHenry Yeah, you don't want to upset the Toro! Hope all is well on your end.
You're right about that Richard. Don't want to anger the Greensmaster. 😂 I'm doing ok. Ready for this season to get started. Everything going ok with you and yours?
No pre emergents here fresh sod 🦩✅
The Bermuda sod lines are almost gone.
I see a warming trend 🔥🦩🔥
Well at lease you have a good reason Lawn 2 Learn. Definitely don’t want to hurt that mew sod. I’m hoping the warming trend holds out.
I say bring the heat 2021 gonna be hot 🔥
@@lawn2learn Totally agree Lawn 2 Learn!
Variety of grass could also play a part in green up.... one of the traits of tiftuf is early spring green up...
Great point John. Both sides of the line are TifTuf though. What I was trying to show is how just a little bit of potash made a pretty big difference in green up for the Bermuda. More about the effects of the potash and support soil test data vs. the actual grass type. 😎
Sorry must of misunderstood you I thought the other side was Zoysia
Ohhh my mistake. Both sides of the like are the same grass. One just got a little potash taste is all.
Then yeah that's pretty cool.... Better get to building that ground up Ron.... Lol
Ohh. The area I was slipping you mean?
Hey Ron can i still spray prodiamine 65 wdg or is it too late now ? I'm in georgia as well.
If you haven't sprayed pre-emergent yet, I would get it done as soon as possible. It's not too late.
@@RonHenry true it's freezing today I'm in buford so I think I still have time this week. Thank you I'll get it done.
No problem at all. A bit early is better than late when it comes to pre-emergent. :-)
Liquid prodamine. I feel like you get better coverage. I’m doing a split app this year to see if there is a difference.
I agree about the more even coverage Jose A. For a lot of people granular is easier to get out and apply. You should get good results doing the split application.
Lesco Pre M or Simazine liquid applied by a 25 gallon tank sprayer pulled by my lawn mower for 2 acres with split applications!
2 acres!?!? Good lord Kerry. 😎 That’s some serious dedication. How many refills does it take for you to do the entire 2 acres?
@@RonHenry
Two tanks for 2 acres! I also spray two of my neighbors yards which they are both a acre each. It gets hectic sometimes lol
@@billy2bob63 I'm sure it's hectic but it sounds like you enjoy doing it. Besides, it's always nice to put some hardware to work while helping your neighbor out right? :-)
@@RonHenry
By spraying there yards it helps keep.my chemicals fresher since I buy them in 2.5 gallon jugs. They also pay me for what the chemicals cost and a little bit more for my gas and time. Best three looking yards in my area! Lol
Your correct about enjoying doing it but getting the perfect time to spray is a challenge!
Very cool. When it comes to pre-emergent, you end up becoming a bit of a weather man 😂. When you end up with a weed-free lawn, it’s totally worth it.
Ok ok ok ok I’ll get a soil test for next year. I used Prodiamine WDG. First year with a battery sprayer.
Next year Jarrod? There's so much 2021 left though. 😎 Congrats on applying Prodiamine WDG. It can be intimidating the first time you have to mix your own pre-emergent.
@@RonHenry ok. Went ahead and got it from your site. Peer pressure.
Thanks so much for the support. Much appreciated. Let me know if I can help with anything. 👍😎
Subscribed! Just found you!
Thanks so much deb p. I really appreciate you watching the content. Thanks for the support.
I applied Barricade in granular form. The liquid felt intimidating.
At least you got it down leatkittenswspicy Mustard. That's the important thing. Doesn't matter if you used liquid or granular. Eventually you might get more comfortable to where you'll consider giving liquid a try.
Dimension liquid. I prefer the liquid over the granular. I seem to have patches where weeds come through using granular over the liquid.
Are you going to show us those arm muscles?
Hahhaha. They're not that big Dadding. I have long stringy arms. All those pushups. 😂
I used barricade😎
Nice Ramon. Is that your usual or is this your first year using it?
@@RonHenryI used the granular 007 in the fall for poa and liquid barricade in the spring maybe dimension next month. Thanks for the knowledge 💯
Cool deal. Did the granular 007 and liquid barricade keep the poa away?
@@RonHenry yessir I did 2 applications of the granular in the fall tbh poa was bad here in VA last year mild winter.👍
Very cool Ramon. Sounds like you have a process that’s working. Poa creates an incredible mess of it gets out of hand.
I emailed. He replied....Subscribed. 🔔 on ✅
No problem at all Moreland Capital Group. Happy to help out sir.
