    Floss, brush, mouthwash. The reason I floss first is because the gunk in between the teeth and gums contains bacteria and often has an odor and seems silly to bring that into a freshly brushed mouth. Plus, when you break up debris with floss your brush and the toothpaste can get to more of the tooth.

    Step1: 2 times - Gargle by swishing water for atleast 15 secs each time
    Step 2: Brush your teeth
    Step 3: Floss
    Step 4: Use mouthwash for any nooks unreachable by brush or floss
    P.S. Never brush your teeth immediately after your meal. Wait for atleast 30 mins.

      You should also add brushing tongue. Ideally you should not rinse after brushing teeth, just spit. This way the fluoride is on your teeth protecting overnight. Yes you can argue using a mouthwash containing fluoride except that toothpaste has 3x the fluoride of any mouthwash. If you want to be extra thorough use an interdental pick and then some sort of gum massager like the Sulcabrush. I personally floss before brushing because you can floss right after eating vs you should wait 30 minutes to brush. Also, in my mind, if you remove debris in between teeth, the fluoride from brushing will get in between teeth better. I suppose there is an argument for before and after.

    • @Onigirli
      @Onigirli 2 года назад +2

      Using mouthwash means the order doesn't matter because you're spitting out liquid after everything. But that also unfortunately gets rid of the flouride from the paste. I'm still not convinced that brushing before flossing is better... saving the brushing for last means you get to spit out the debris from both flossing and brushing, while brushing first means the debris loosened by flossing is just left there in your mouth. Floss-firsters ftw

    • @JewiMacca
      @JewiMacca 2 года назад +2

      @@Onigirli I think there is an argument for both ways. I also floss first but I can see how possibly brushing would push some particles back in between the teeth.

    I brush first because I feel like brushing removes all of the accesible dirt. That way, you then go ahead and remove the dirt IN BETWEEN the gaps of your teeth without worrying about pushing the dirt farther in (if you did it beforehand).

    I’m personally in the floss first camp, but I wasn’t always… I used to follow the more standard brush-then-floss regimen, but after experimenting over the years I found that flossing before brushing delivers better results and ultimately just makes more sense to me, tho I will sometimes do an initial “rough” brush just to clear the surface gunk before flossing with an expanding floss like Dr. Tung’s, and end with brushing. Sometimes I rinse with mouthwash after flossing (but before brushing, so as not to wash off the toothpaste), lol and if I’m really feeling extra (or extra icky 🙊) I’ll cap it all off with a second round of flossing with a finer/more traditional waxed floss 😝🪥🦷🥶

    Brush first, interdental cleaning second (i say interdental cleaning because in my professional opinion interdental BRUSHES are way beter in romoving plaque/debris than floss is but that's another story): the mouth is a space filled with a gazillion bacteria. Correlations (and more) have been shown between oral health and systemic health/disease. The mouth, next to bacteria, is also invaded by bloodvessels. very, very easily can bacteria enter the bloodstream. You want to prevent this. By brushing first you, reduce the amount of bacteria by removing plaque etc from the bigger surfaces. With interdental cleaning there is a chance of actually impacting stuff, bacteria etc inbetween. Next to that, bleeding occurs more often during inbetween brushing than on the outer surfaces. The less bacteria you have in your mouth (after normal brushing first), the smaller the chance is of bacteria invading bloodvessels during interdental cleaning when bleeding occurs more often. I hope you get my point (i'm from Holland). So to summarize: i think you want to decrease bacteria in your mouth first with brushing and than the chances of bacteria entering your bloodverssels is smalling by number but also because intedental cleaaning can "open up" vessels cause a lot of people dont have very healthy gums (in between). Maybe this is nonsense but i think this is true...

    What I do is use mouthwash first. Give it a good swish around then gargle and then expel it. Then I do a quickish floss before using Piksters. The reason for both is I find it gives a more efficient in between clean. And why first? Because I can get rid of some of the gunk in between my teeth thus allowing more of that part of the tooth surface to be bathed in toothpaste, when I brush. Also it means you're not getting fine food particles in your toothbrush and literally scraping that over your tooth surface when you brush. Meaning a lot less wear and tear on your tooth enamel. And a lot less wear and tear on your toothbrush. And it just feels cleaner that way.... 😁

      Joseph R Nemeth DDS & Associates I usually brush for 1 minute, floss, then brush again for another minute. (I use music to keep track of time) but I do my best to remember to brush softly! I’ve been doing my best to take care of my teeth since they hurt with stuff(my dentist don’t believe me though) so yeah! I realized I need to floss more slowly too when going between my teeth.
