Who knew Dr John Yoo would get us to click and educate us on how to properly brush n maintain our teeths 😊 thank you, tho, some of these tips I actually did not know 😅 also, I have a very small area around my back teeths so I've tried with different brushes to try n reach them, my floss can't even reach there, what would u recommend I do for this.
@@razinamarjan1110 the ideal would still be flossing, but if impossible to reach, a Waterpik (water flosser) can help debride areas that are otherwise hard to get to. also try different brush heads, sizes, and lengths to make it easier to reach difficult places
@@dr.johnyoo ok, I'll try, it's just my back wisdom/molars are growing n fits very hard to brush them 🥲 but thanks for the advice 💛
@@dr.johnyoo also can u get blood clots in the mouth after getting a tooth removed?
John please call NOW. I need you. 😭🙏
I visited my dentist after putting it off for 3 years because I was scared. Depression made my dental hygiene less than ideal and on top of that, one of my old fillings came out. I had a really big cavity where the old filling was and cried from the pressure cus they had work on that one cavity for almost an hour, but my dentist played BTS for me and wiped my tears while I got my filling, which was sweet. I feel refreshed after getting my teeth cleaned and honestly, maintaining a nice routine for my teeth has helped with my depression. Dr. Yoo and Monica are right when they say that dentists have seen pretty much everything and only want to help!! I hope this encourages anyone who’s been too scared to go :)
Yoooo 🥹💪💪💪 so proud of you!!!! And the dental team that took care of u- i am sure they are very grateful you gave it your best try. Such a beautiful story Ayesha, thanks for sharing 💯💯
The same happened to me. I was being abused and I had to go get an implant and fillings and my dentist was wiping my tears. I don’t think my dentist knew how much I needed that lol. Thanks to my dentist. 🤍 I’m so proud of u for getting through it. Many hugs to you. 🫧🤍
Thank you for letting me know the importance of flossing.
I thought a regular toothbrush would be better than an electric toothbrush, but I should change it.
Im currently having a minor breakdown because I got a chip in my tooth because I’ve neglected my deltal health and all my fillings came out except for the giant one but I can feel just how much it decayed I think I have about 8 cavities and I feel ashamed so I want you to know how much better I feel after reading your comment before I go and schedule an appointment
Same here, I'm going to this new dentist for a year not going, I'm kinda scared, cus I have some plaque and tartar, which is not much, but me needing deep cleaning cus little me never brushed which led to gum disease. I've been brushing and flossing but didn't brush my inner teeth. I prayed that everything would be alright. 🙏
I wish they taught kids these simple things in school and at doctor appointments more often. Growing up in a small and not so well-off household, I wasn't taught of these simple things so I would brush back and forth how most people do and not in circular motions and other things. I also didn't floss well growing up because I wasn't taught it but I'm way better now. I'm still working on it but my gums are better than they are years ago!
thanks for sharing Zelrius. i def agree with you that many of the habits we're taught are overlooked and not critically re-evaluated, because they're so habitual. glad to hear that you have made strides. gainz all the way!!
I have been putting off my dentist appointment. Your video and commentary are so heartwarming and supportive that I am going to schedule my appointment and be brave and go! Thank you, Dr. Yoo and Monica!
Great job you two on your video. I am a retired RDA as well as an instructor teaching dental assisting. Worked for an Orthodontist for 20 years. Then taught for 18 years. Once again great job!!!!
thank you for your dedicated health service in our field !!
I believe I'm not the only one who has a lot of uncomfortable and even traumatic experience going to a dentist. I'm glad that there are still great and talented dentists like you guys.
Keep doing what you're doing, Dr.! 😇
Me .. I felt the most horrible pain of my life after going to dentist ..he did something wrong ..he probably poked some nerve he wasn't supposed to ..I screamed when it happened because I felt it but he made fun of me and that night was hardest night for me because I took many pain killers and they was just not working ...at the end I fainted because of over dose and pain 🤦 ...I am too scared to go to dentist after that ..I haven't completed my RCT procedure ..it has been 2 years ...
Thanks for this informative video!! When i was a young kid, I didn’t know all of this. How to brush my teeth properly, floss properly and taking care of my teeth. I don’t brush them often as well… And now in my twenties, just grateful to have met a ethical, kind and helpful dentist! He has been my go to dentist, patient and never judges! ☺️☺️ I learnt a lot about taking care of my teeth and never skips my 6 months dental check up! Thank you!
thank you for the soft and caring approach to your videos ♡ ♡
I remember as a teen I had an absolutely horrible dentist/assistants, who would harshly criticize everything, even saying to themselves in front of me "what isn't wrong with her teeth," or accusing me of smoking when I've never smoked in my life (I did drink coca cola and tea a lot). I left the reception area crying. I was pretty stressed lol (had horrible acne to boot).
Luckily I registered with another office a year later and they were so unbelievably kind T_T I love going to them even now. It was with their recommendation that I went for a second round of braces. My oral health is so much better and I like to smile now. Thank you, nice dentists of the world~!! ♡ ♡
Thank you Dr.John and Dr.Monica...Great information. Specially gum bleeding one. Whenever we see blood we stop doing it.. Hope every school educate kids abt oral hygiene by inviting Dentists like you who teach you good things + not boring at all...🤗🤗
i have a fear of the dentist and therefore haven’t been in 6+ years. watching your videos gives me more peace and confidence to schedule a cleaning! i know i’ll have to get my wisdom teeth out but one day at a time 😢
I have asked my grandsons hygienist to teach him better brushing techniques. He has autism and doesn’t always do a good job. She has brushed my questions aside several times. I appreciate the video.
Before I was so afraid to see a dentist and that made me lost two. But now, I am taking good care of it and not afraid to seek help whenever I feel not that good about it. Thank you for the information.
This is the type of content we need!
Wholesome, informative, positive, and full of genuine laughter!
Shout out to Monica for being such and amazing guest! ❤🎉
ayy thank you so much Crystal 🎉🎉🎉
Yep yep Crystal!
I had a dental fear for a long time as a kid. When I was 7, I had a very bad experience; I was afraid and didn’t know what the hygienist was doing, so I got a huge fear. The fear, or maybe phobia, was so bad that I cried and begged my mom not to take me, and somehow that worked and I didn’t go for 6 years. My phobia was huge like if anything dental related came up, I had to leave the room or think about something else. Over time, my phobia got much better, and I started to learn more about dentistry and how dental procedures are done, which made me actually consider becoming a dentist one day (I don’t want to due to the time and money it takes). When I was 13, I went back and I was nervous, but luckily I wasn’t fearful. I fortunately had zero cavities and my teeth were ok (which I was surprised due to me only brushing once a day and never flossing). That appointment actually made me love going to the dentist. My teeth felt so smooth and clean that I actually wish I could go every month. I’m 17 now, and I have picked up flossing again a few weeks ago, and have a great electric toothbrush, tongue scraper, and mouth rinse I use after flossing but before brushing at night. I just want to say thank you for making videos like this. I know dentists and dental hygienists making videos like this helped me get over my phobia. TeethTalkGirl is another creator I love to watch. Now, I hope I get to marry a dentist, as I would love for him to take out my wisdom teeth, as it just seems like a really funny idea and a bonding experience! ❤️
Doctor.... Lots of love from India...
I've never seen a doctor with this much patience.... and you're so calm....
Love you so much doctor
I‘ve had a great dentist ever since I was a child, he’s a family friend, and honestly now as a grown up he still is just such a cool dentist lol, super chill guy and so informative, I genuinely enjoy going to the dentist tihi
Also here in Germany all children in primary school will get a check up for free from a dentist, who comes in once or maybe twice a year, and I do think that helps a lot with keeping kids teeth healthy plus getting your teeth checked and professionally cleaned doesn’t cost anything at all until you’re 18, which again probably helps a lot with keeping the teeth healthy at least when you’re younger 🤔
Greetings from Germany
Do more of this Dr Yoo! We love a good informative and educational video 👐🏻
ay ay captain
2 weeks in my dental hygiene program and Dr. Yoo releases this video. Life couldn’t be better
2 weeks ! excited for your journey ahead, crush it! 🚀🚀🚀
@@dr.johnyoo thanks Dr. Yoo you’re the reason I picked dentistry. Once I finish this hygiene program and get my bachelors I wanna apply to dental school and become a good dentist like you❤️🦷
The part about feeling judged by your dentist. Happened to me bc it had been over a decade since I had been. I just switched to my dentist and they are more supportive.
Funny and educational, great video!! Also, thank you, I realized that I need to update my oral hygiene routine 🪥🦷
Nice way to let people get the good informations in an easy and funny way😍😍
And they should start brushing from one of the sides in one of the arches and finish at the same side of the another arch just for remembering all the surfaces and won’t forgetting any surface without brushing ♥️♥️
Thank you very much, Dr. John! I'm showing this video to my son and other family members.
Wonderful! Our pleasure Jo 🙏💯💯
I'm going to brush my teeth again using the proper technique you guys taught!
This is nice, short and to the point. Loved it 😊
much appreciated Caren !
Iam a dental student ..you always give me good vibes and inspiration and do good at my studies ☺️☺️
Informative, funny and as always too good!! 😊
thanks Rayeesa . trying to make oral hygiene sexy
Welcome Back. Ah nice and cool Vlog🌸
We need videos like these🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing such informative video
Everyone should start using electric ones
Let's go everyone 🏃🏼♀️
This is the funniest teeth education video and great tips! 😂🥰
Hi! I’m not sure if you remember me, I commented on a video of yours quite a while ago, and you actually replied to me!!! I’m still in shock over it. However, I wanted to let you know that while I am still in school, I’m taking all three sciences this year because you were my sole inspiration to go into dentistry. Have a wonderful day!
amazing news , that's so inspiring to hear. hope you find the journey to be enjoyable and fulfilling
@@dr.johnyoo Omg thank you so much you made my entire day! Hopefully I’ll end up working with you at some point :)
Hope next time Dr. Lin will also collaboration with you. Thank a million for the good information.🙏🏻
Thank you, Dr. John and Miss Monica, for this informative video. I learned a lot.
Glad it was helpful Aizee! 💯💯
Great video Dr. Yoo! Thank you!
That was a great video! Thanks for the info. You both seem like really great people and have a good sense of humor. It’s easier to remember things when there’s fun involved.
I’ve always preferred manual brushes, as well. I don’t usually rinse after I brush, but I do use mouthwash afterwards and usually rinse out more food when I do that.
I have TMJ, so my dental hygienist warned me away from chewing gum. If you’re still reading these comments, do you have any tips for anything else I might be able to do to stimulate saliva production?
And for Ms. Monica, I understand how she feels about you doing that to her at the end. My friends do that sort of thing to me all the time, so she has my empathy. 😂
You're really extraordinary ....just so sweet and soothing to watch and hear you all the time
This is so helpful, sometimes I forgot how to actually brush my teeth properly lol I might need go write a note about this for reminder 😂
Much needed information 💁♀️ thank-you 😊
such an informative vid!! with a beautiful guest & hygienist! 🤩
thanks Judie ~ we agree , Monica is amazing !
excellent advice from two specialized experts On the subject of excellent oral hygiene products
What motivated me most to take better care of my teeth was the dentist bill.. 😅 4 cavities. What a waste of money. I was brushing my teeth twice a day though but I guess it was because of the soft drinks and candy. I quit both now, and I don't miss it:) I also bought an electric toothbrush.
The biggest help for me was switching to a fluoride mouthwash, after I had a new dentist recommend Act at 18. As I kid I had so many cavities, even black rotten ones. And I haven’t had a cavity since then- 17 years!
Can you recommend some brands for the mouthwash?
@@syarifahsyahidah4432 I have always used the brand “Act” some of them have really nice dispensers too. You just squeeze the bottle and it will fill a little cup on the top.
@@Industryworth thank you so much for the recommendation 🥰
Omg yeah, my dentist also recommended ACT to me at 17-18 yrs. I've used only ACT since then.
@Syarifah Syahidah dentist generally recommend mouth washes that have a more basic ph, like Act, as opposed to the crest or listerine ones that are more acidic, which isn’t good for your teeth
I really appreciate what you're doing ....such a sweet and lovely you are Dr yoo...we really want a dentist like you in our country also .....bcz they are good but the charm is not there without your presence
So cute! Thank you!
Alot of helpful tips! I'll try and see if it improves my teeths :)
Thanks for the great tip Dr John! Never knew you had to floss that closely to your gums, scary but I’ll try haha. But Monica’s absolutely gorgeous dang, ngl I clicked cus of her 🤣
As an adult I learned some things. Thanks Dr Yoo and Ms Hong!!
thanks for watching Amber ~~
very helpful information to educated my kids about oral hygiene.
Love the video! I'm here for the myth busters! 👏👏👏

Enjoying our job as well life is what make life worthy.😁 Helping while working Hard! Respect 👍No wonder why!!..!
Thank you, more educational videos these are great!!!
Very refreshing to know that we should not rinse the toothpaste away after brushing the teeth. How do you eat/ drink after that?
I have braces for a year now. Flossing is the hardest part. Glad that i came across ur video. Thanks for the informative content!
definitely the hardest part haha . keep it up!!
if you haven’t already, you might want to look into water piks/water flossing.
Always love to watch your content Dr💯🔥. Doctor if possible can you share how you give OHE to young patient? I think it is quite hard as I dont know if they can understand and do it accordingly or nott. Thank you again Dr!
My electric toothbrush broke, I started using a manual one and got so much plaque. My son (uri Jin Wu) had cheap electric brush, it worked fine. When he got his first two adult teeth I noticed he could not keep them clean well. So I got him a sonic care that came with an app, teaching him how to brush. It works so well.
We don’t rinse.
Informative! Thank you
Such a useful video John! Didnt know i shouldnt be rinsing my mouth out with water after brushing 👍
your mouth is always minty clean Dr Kim
It’s John Yoo Oppa!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
was curious, when should we use mouthwash to rinse our mouth? before or after brushing our teeth?
I am also afraid to go to the dentist but after I saw this video definitely going .. You are doing great job , such a inspirational video ... Thankyou.. Love from India🇮🇳 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💯
i'm very proud of you! it is a big, courageous step that you will not regret
This was the video I didn't know I needed.
u the GOAT wanderflies
@@dr.johnyoo OMG you responded to my comment!! 😍
Question: when it's proper to brush away from the gumline, how does an electric toothbrush achieve this motion when all you do is placing it in the position please?
I have a question. Should I remove my wisdom teeth? both grew out to a half ways point. I was told(not by a professional)that they eventually start pushing the rest of your bottom teeth inwards the more they grow out.
There are some dentists that put in their ads "specializing in dental phobia patients". or "gentle care even for those intensely afraid of the dentist".
Some American dentists are reaching out quite specifically to those who have been going to the dentist infrequently
Dr John, which toothpaste do you actually use and recommend to your patients?
Thanks for sharing this 😊
Im 22 years old and I really just learnt how to floss properly. Thanks you two! I’m obsessed with your channel now. Quick question, what’s a safe toothpaste you would recommend. I just Colgate optic white because I find it gives me the freshest breath?
You are very funny and give me confident in life heh love you're vids 😊
A day to start with bright and beautiful Yoo.😘
After watching your videos we realised that we need to pay attention towards our teeth..
Good content. Keep going you guys. ✌
In additional, xylitol gum can increase saliva secretion which is good for elderly or people with dry mouth. 😉
100% . definitely a pro tip for xerostomia (dry mouth!) great point
2 questions: My girlfriend has to use 4 toothbrushes because she gags and throws up everytime she brushes. She’s tried every toothpaste and it all makes her gag. Any recommendations? Also, if people should use only soft bristles, why do they even make hard bristles at all?
Thank you for the information now I know 😊
Monica is the cutest😂
Loved your video. Can you please recommend a toothpaste for people who don’t like mint?
I recently found out I have cavities on my front tooth, but I have been really afraid to go to dentist for the fear of being judged but after seeing your video, I think I will finally go .
proud of you. you got this
I'm 40yrs old and I don't know that I should not rinse after brushing. I just thought I should not swallow the toothpaste. Now I know. And flossing was the hardest part. Not sure if I'm doing right because after sometime I saw plaque building up 😔
I feel like the waiting time is not really talked about with clear aligners treatment. Jw what would you recommend to someone who may not have 30 to wait to brush their teeth?
You mentioned blushing in circular motions. She mentioned swiping from top to bottom. Im confused. Do both these methods need to be done when brushing your teeth?? How many times? Thanx in advance.
Hi Dr. Upon it’s me Cooper! I visited u earlier today!
At ur work place
I saw ur RUclips plaque in New Jersey!
I’m not sure if you guys mentioned this or I wasn’t paying attention but , is it okay to brush after flossing?
& Im a straight gal Dr John☺️ , I will share this video for the fam! Thanks for the free education!🫶🏼
Oh no Dr yoo, thanks so much but am a person who loves hard toothbrushes because I feel clean when I use them and I keep changing them every month, hope it's healthy 😄🙈.
I have never used mouth wash tho it's been on my mind always to introduce them to my self. Is warm water good for brushing teeth? It's what I use to rinse my teeth after brushing.
Hey doc, ever heard of the Curaprox ultra soft 5460? This manual toothbrush is as good as an electric one 👍
Don't think you mentioned it or I just completely missed it. Best time to use mouthwash in your routine: Before or after brushing?
I have question how shall i floos cause i have bracees on my teeth confused about it and
i have never done it before but after watching your channel I'll be doing it 😊
Dr Monica is so hilarious 😂 her dead pan face kills me everytime
Can we get some feedback on electronic toothbrush from Ms Monica if she tried it , liked it or not ? Thanks in advance
I do feel the high cost of filling (your cavity) help motivate me in brush teeth 2 times, plus floss sticking
Recently my Pa went for a dental procedure and they pulled a perfectly healthy tooth by mistake.
They couldn’t really do anything other then say “sorry”. 😔
hi Yoo, do you have a preference for a specific brush shape? I feel the oral-B round head is perfect for small short teeth and Philips more traditionally tooth brush shaped is better for taller. cheers!
❤️😍Hi Doc greetings from Panama
How about a waterpik? I have gingivitis and I’m thinking of getting it to help stop the bleeding
Hi i have a random question, do you happen to have a recommendation of kid’s dentist in seoul? I know you are not in korea but i watched your video of recent korea trip so i thought of giving it a shot.
are toothpicks for just the gum part of the teeth enough or is flossing alot better?
I agree, my mouth feels most clean using a manual toothbrush so what I do is use electric first then manual.
I have a question, if we aren’t supposed to rinse after brushing our teeth then when are we supposed to use mouthwash?
I think I came across one of your vidoes that you came to the Philippines 🇵🇭
i used electric toothbrush for a while and I noticed my teeth are more sensitive to cold and heat. Is this normal? I went back to manual brushing and my teeth are not anymore sensitive.
