Derptrollz tbh it was a stupid idea, two people, not even into cars, gets a crash course in drifting.. i can only hope, for the sake of fifth gear, they learned controlled donuts beforehand. Also the way they reacted to the 'crash', im sure shell never convince anyone to try drifting

I just want to publicly thank you for this video because this was the only one I watched on how to drift and I used this technique in an accident to drift and miss a telephone pole while out of control and regain it landing myself safely and unharmed. It may seem small and stupid but Thank you

There are classes/courses in many countries/cities that allow you to pay a fee and give it a try with an instructor.

I'd say to learn you have to learn to kick the back out a little bit and exit the drift safely only then progressively can you increase the speed and angle.
Great show though.. going for the "just slam the throttle and try to catch it" approach is sure to get some exciting Nissan vs wall action lol

Cosmetic, but extremely expensive to repair, ROTFLMAO. That's probably $8k worth of body work. Just the Nismo front nose is expensive and likely to be on backorder for a month.
Quite ambitious starting out on an actual track. Now you not only have to learn to control the drift but also place the car accurately.
Both of these gentlemen have balls of steel. I would never get in a passenger seat with either of these two attempting their first drift. You should slowly develop a relationship with your car before learning to balance it on the limit, obviously the presenters knew this when the one girl said she hadn't driven a manual in years; she might as well have never drove a car.
drifting is 80% throttle 20% steering... no matter how well you steer no matter how much you countersteer, you will not be able to keep the loss of control under control, if your flooring the shit out of the throttle..

HIDDENRAINN I can't seem to drift well in GTAV... the cars have too much friction... and when the friction is somehow lessened it just goes off sideways and not actually turning

I know a lot of internet drivers, say this is easy. I can tell you first hand it is not. I learned using a 08 crown Victoria interceptor spec. however its is one of those things like riding a bike once you get it: you GET it. I don't think it matters male or female, its not something you learn in an hour of training. . it took me two weeks of 4 hour classes to navigate the course they had with 9 bends(18 trasfers). that's 40 hours of class time, which im told is pretty standard for anyone to reach their prime requsites benchmarks. mike hawks adv driving school in Poway.

See you're doing it on a nice safe track. Me, picture it mid 80's Ford Crown Victoria. Coming downhill on an entrance ramp to Interstate 95. Back end tried to come around and kiss the front end on that one.

I used to love top gear up until the last few series where it became less about cars and more about humour. I wouldn't have minded too much if they weren't the unfunniest people on television. I found their comedy way too PC (presumably because of the BBC) and stale so it turned into a programme of shitty, predictable jokes made while driving cars.
This is way better than new top gear is. Imagine Chris Evans instead of Tiff... bleh

It's fun reading all these "back to kitchen" comments. Hope you guys are not just keyboard warriors and really do know how to drift a car properly. Whoever knows how to drift knew that it's not a proper way to learn this course. It's not their fault when their 'teachers' doesnt know to teach.
The fuck is up with all the "stay in the kitchen" and "teaching a woman to drive" comments? I mean, if it was just one or two I'd write them off as just assholes, but it's several comments with hundreds of likes each.
Also, I really want to see how this schooling thing plays out. I want to see them learn the art and get better. I'd watch that for days.

Well I didn't mean it that way. The instructors don't seem to even care if their students learn at all. And it seems like they don't even expect them to.
There's no way the girls are going to learn like that. Especially when they don't know about taking corners on a track.
I did notice that they were taking the corners a little slow. That's not a low-speed corner, and yet they were taking it in second gear, I think it was. Or was it third. Either way, they needed a lot more speed for it.
But that still doesn't explain to me why everyone is making these jokes.

The driver's lesson didn't teach them enough, some of them their safety sense are not as good as those average drivers, the lesson is just too easy to pass.
The amount of sexist comments on here is apalling, especially considering that half the guys commenting have probably never even driven a rear wheel drive car before, the issue is not the students it's the teachers expecting them to run before they can walk, they didn't even teach them how to donut, the first thing everyone learns when learning how to drift, and plus the cars have way more power than what is needed when learning, most bullshit drifting video I've ever seen

I know how to drift, yet, I've never done a donut. My car has an open diff and only around 100hp, so it's quite hard to drift, I have to do a lot of weight transfer, and due to it having an open diff I never even tried to do a donut.. Just gonna one wheel peel it

to drift perfectly you press L1 or R1 then immediately press it again and hold it this time and then just steer using directional left or right and remember not to hold left or right for too long or you will either exit the drift or spin in that direction :D

Some ppl, like me even as a kid i was leaning forwards on my bikes handlebars locking rear tire up to slide, and u get that feeling of over steer. A lot of girls that never rode bikes, quads, go-carts, etc dont.

Living in the country, an empty field, a couple inches of snow on, and a 5.0L F-150 has taught me how to drift. I guess you could say self-taught. lol
That ain't really drifting tho,its kinda just sliding through the snow if you ask me..
