I own a 2013 model nano. Its been 10 years and it still goes strong. Very minor issues or no issues most of the times. Perfect for a country like India. But recommended only within city due to safety reasons. Though it is capable of going anywhere. Space is unbelievable for a car this size. Turning radius is a life saver actually. Love this car!! Hope this comes in elecetric form with all the safety intact. And yes, its sheet metal need to thicker!

Secondly the car is strictly for local use, not intended and reliable to use it for highway or some long rides atleast occasionally people want to go with their families. 1. Fire case sirf starting me kuch cars me aaye the Jo ki total 5 to 6 car hi hai
    2. Tata ne fire case study ke liye ek foreign agency ko hire Kiya tha for root cause analysis jisme main unhone ka tha ki car me kuch bhi Aisa nahi jisse aag lage
    3. Aag ki fake news viral karne me Indian 2 wheeler industry or Marti ne news agency ko hire Kiya tha. Kyuki sabse jada loss unka hi ro Raha tha
    4. Most important Aaj bhi 10 se 12 saal purani nano roads pr chal rahi hain without any problem and fire case.

I am glad that my views were not listened to and we bought alto k10. We still have it and it is an excellent car.

Surprisingly nano is the most popular car in 2nd hand market nowadays going for a very high price!

Nano should be a pure hybrid car with .5 l engine. Power should not be a problem if it is a pure hybrid. The price should be around 2-3 lakhs.
Rather then the round look it should look like a proper car. Comes with 2 seat,4 seat variation.

Let TATA release once again this NANO XTA -- I am sure it will be run away success -- Let the NANO be sold only through DIGITAL mode and not through deleadership -- keep the price below Rs 2.5 lakhs payment through Credit car -- It will sell like hot cake

I used NANO XTA -- super car with all amenities -- We Indian really did not care for our legendary person Ratan TATA sir who wanted to give Citizens really GOOD car which he gave .. We Indian are ungrateful people we did not accept NANO thinking it is cheap car -- It was not Cheap car -- It was extremely good CAR in all aspect ..

I was in school when TATA Nano was launched and I brought an AUTOCAR Magazine to just read about that Car.
But soon after the incidents of fire is started to rolled out on media...all hype was vanished just like smoke.
I guess the Media reporting on fire incidents is the biggest reason of failure.

The Nano had a few issues but they could have easily been worked out. The Nano is the ideal car for city driving. And also on mountain roads. I've had two Nano cars and the worst that I can say about them is
    1. The A pillar gives a blind spot on twisting turning roads.
    2. The early model didn't have a temp gauge. Tha later ones all do.
    3. The bonnet/engine cover could be a bit more easy to open. You need to twirl six wing bolts, one or two of which inevitably get lost
    4. When the car gets older the fuel pump motor installed inside the fuel tank starts getting whimsical.
Most of these problems can be solved and if Tata were to restart production of the Nano I will definitely trade in the old one and buy the latest. BTW I also have a Gypsy and Tiago, but the Nano is my vehicle of choice for going to town.

I agree with all your comments except the A Pillar one. I have seen similar issues with high end cars too. E. G. Honda City (Dolphin model). I drive a Mercedes ML350 and Honda Accord V6 here in Canada, but overtime I am in India and drive the nano, I say WOW. Perfect Point A to Point B car and more.
In my experience, the nano was bad mouthed by people who did not even own a car.

They say- You learn more from failure than from success. In hindsight, the pricing itself was the problem. You simply cannot build a car for just ₹1 lakh. The company simply bit more than it could chew when it announced the price & stuck to it even though everyone knew it wasn't possible (unless it was ok for the company to have negative margins). Instead they could've tried to build a more valuable car priced in the range of the lowest priced car in the country at that time (say Maruti 800 or Alto). That could've given them some breathing space to come up with a strategy about cost cuttings in the product avoiding too many compromises in quality & reliability.

The only reason why Tata has resurrected its course is N. Chandrashekharan. He was the one who guided TCS to beat Infy and Wipro, and now at the helm of Tata group, he is leading the company beautifully.

When Nano was launched even 1 lakh was too much for those who were Target users according to Ratan Sir...
I knew at that time Indigo Indica were good Cars from Tata... If someone had 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh (which was actual price of Tata Nano) most of the people choose 2nd hand Indica Indigo rather than brand new Tata Nano

Problem is in India people attach class status with the cars they own, that's the reason when jio cam for free or cheap price everyone accepted it on the other hand when tata gave nano for cheap price people called it poor man's car etc..

People keep mocking maruti suzuki but it is the only company in India that is still making some small cars which can be afforded by first time buyer.
Rest of the companies are only catering to middle class buyers.
