  • From his rebellious childhood onwards, Rabindranath Tagore was a powerful creative figure in literature, music, education, and art. Many tragedies marked his life, giving rise to the profound spirituality infusing his works.
Tagore received the Nobel Prize in literature his English translations of his own Bengali poetry including the collection known as Geetanjali or Gitanjali. He composed hundreds of Bengali songs known as Rabindra Sangeet. and founded the famous Shanti Niketan school in India. Late in life, he took up painting, producing evocative portraits that hang in many museums and galleries today. All of his work was highly influenced by the teachings of the sages of ancient India, the rishis, as expressed in various Hindu scriptures including the Bhagavad Gita.
Swami Tadatmananda is a traditionally-trained teacher of Advaita Vedanta, meditation, and Sanskrit. For more information, please see: www.arshabodha...

I visited Kolkata for the first time in February 2020....(yes pre-lockdown due to the pandemic). While in the city I was fortunate to visit Tagore's former home, now a beautiful museum. The museum is a stunning tribute to his life. A visit to his family home/museum is a must see ...for anyone visiting Kolkata! It houses an exemplary collection / story of his life and work. I was lucky to find a copy of .. Gitanjali... in a bookstore in Kolkata ...which I believe was the book that awarded India (and Asia btw) her first Nobel Prize in 1913. (Please forgive me...and correct me if I quoted the incorrect book here ;). Yes, an artistic giant Tagore certainly was. India must be proud. Thank you to the creators of this video. Namaste from Canada.

Tagore was unfortunate to be born in a country where common people till date are not quite capable of evaluating the genius of this great man. Tagore was invented by the West and till date being cultured in the West. He did so much for his poor countrymen he himself being a royal man by blood. How many personalities you can find in the entire world who sacrificed his everything for the education of his poor countrymen ?!!! Tagore is largely misunderstood in India till date...Only few people like us who keep themselves submerged on this great ocean of knowledge called TAGORE...

I’ve admired Tagore’s work since the 60s. My good fortune: to live in Darjeeling for 15 years - thus the home offered by Tagore’s patron was simply in the neighborhood, surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants, overlooking the Himalayas. 🙏🏼💕🌿🙏🏼

This is an amazing creation of a presentation of tribute to the great poet, Rabindranath Tagore. Hats off to you Swamiji and a big THANK YOU! It qualifies as a beautiful documentary. It is engaging and captivating. In less than 30 minutes Swami Tadatmananda has managed to capture the essence of Tagore's entire life and his creative genius. I loved the images of his writings and rare images and videos from his life along with recitation of sections of Tagore's poems composed and sung by Swamiji. The selection of background music is pleasing and does not distract one from the content. It is beautifully edited. I love Swamiji's pace of narration. It is perfect and easy to follow. I enjoyed watching it and found it informative and inspiring.

Thank you Swamiji for this presentation. I have no words left. It's my second time watching this: I have been reduced to utter tears and thank you so much for not ending the video on Tagore's death - as he lives on - within all of us - in all our wellbeing, prosperity, despair and hope. Thank you so much Swamiji again and you brilliantly sung his poetries, also for your amazing narration.

He has had close contact with Grandkids and Einstein. Isn't not ? Not that I blame him. Who am I to do so? I simply admire and adore Our great Poet. That's all.

A lovely tribute to 'Gurudev' Rabindranath, the multi-faceted polymath who has been the most recognizable icon of Bengal for the past 100 years. Swamiji, you brought Tagore to life through your musical compositions of his poems. It is quite remarkable that you are a monk of the Adi Shankara Vedanta tradition raised in the United States, and have offered a video tribute to Bengal's (and India's) great poet, mystic, artist and writer. Swamiji, your musical score was very good and you have a melodious singing voice. Wonderful !!

Tagore was indeed a saint. If you read his songs and poems on God , you will understand how deeply he was connected to God. But he never believed in many existence of God. His God was formless, infinite who can be your friend, play mate at times and can punish you if you commit sin at another time !!!

It's so sad how Bengal has fallen.... Such incredible people were born here, the likes of whom have no parallel anywhere.... Scientists, writers, philosophers, artists, saints, leaders, singers, composers, directors.... There is a sense of loss....an emptiness in the air.... There is something missing.... Bengali culture is dying a slow death.... Bengalis should try their best to protect and revive their culture and bring in new industries and businesses to improve the economy....

If you know Bengali you can fully realise how beautiful Tagore’s poetry and songs are. Rabi is a precious gift from God to Bengal, who could have chosen English to do literature but he chose Bengali. Wrote for his own people, unfortunately very few East Bengal residents understand this. East Bengal needs Tagore’s for their own sake.

@@indranilbabu12 The real problem is inferiority complex, most writers here are dazzled by Tagore’s merit as well as by Modhusudan, Bankim, Jibanananda etc. But they consider them as outsider, the other. They cannot accept them as their own. Because Bengali muslims have an identity crisis. The problem is complex but to create better literature you have to follow the footsteps of giants of Bengali literature and they are mostly hindus. It’s a fact whether they accept or not.
