- If you have not watched pt.1 of this oil pump swap endeavor, I highly encourage it. It sets the stage for all of the what's and why's of us doing all this work.
The result is not 100% of what we hoped for, but all the work has paid off as it sold a few issues and sets the stage for the low oil pressure solution with a simple oil change in the future.
If you think we wasted our time or have any other constructive, supportive or general questions, please let us know in the comments.
Instead of using the high volume, melling makes an adjustable pressure high-volume version with a preload screw and extra springs. I had a similar issue with a twin turbo setup and the adjustable pump fixed my issue. I'd be willing to bet the oil pressure loss is your S/C. Do you have a restricter orfice on the feed line to the blower?
We too believe it’s because of the S/C and yes we do have a restrictor for the feed to the S/C.
Hopefully 10w-40 does the trick
and the other Foxes have much better pressure ??hard to guess ... have you ever messured the Distance from Oil pick up to PanFloor ?.its because the Girdle makes the Pickup sits lower in the Pan...should be 0.4 to 0.5 inch space...my 50cts guess....
I like the carbhat look wth the Holley carb/TB setup. How does the car drive on the street wth manual steering??
Holley Super Sniper EFI. It drives exceptionally better vs the old Demon and Pro Systems blow-through carbs he had on it in the past. Manual steering isn't too bad with the skinny front tires.
I hate mine without power steering. My wheels are skinnier than Pete's but my steering wheel is smaller too, so parking lots suck.
Like Mike has said the car runs great of the street, I went for the carb hat and look alike carb for the old school look.
I think it looks really cool 😎 👍
Is the oil pressure guage wrong?
The low pressure light illuminates, and the Sniper backs up what the gauge says, so it's not the gauge.
We are confident it is accurate. The red light is for a low oil pressure light and its sensor goes off at 17psi. So it's right in line with the gauge's reading. Two independent things reading the same so that's what we are basing our assumptions off of.
